A valuable access management system with a user-friendly and straightforward setup
We primarily use the solution for accessing purposes for our Lambda and when we want to use services internally or across accounts. So we use Identity and Access Management (IAM) to provide that special access We find the access management system valuable. It provides access to our needs, and we…

Great features with good certification module but the cost can be prohibitive for some
We use this product for identity governance. There is the basic identity creation in the lifecycle followed by certification. I'm a company manager and implementer and we are customers of SailPoint.   I think the certification module is perhaps one of the most valuable features. The options are…

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The most valuable feature is that because it's all in the cloud, you don't need to manage the infrastructure."
"Provides good performance and availability."
"AWS Directory Service is secure."
"AWS has eliminated the downtime we waste when our on-premises resources go down."
"I like the manageability. Activate Connect makes it easier to assign information and to manage the resources in the network."
"The most valuable feature of AWS Directory Service is cost-cutting features."
"The solution integrates well with other tools, particularly through single sign-on, allowing users to connect to various applications using just one password, including email."
"We like the fact that it's got such great redundancy."
"It is a scalable product."
"Access certification and provisioning are two of the solutions most valuable features."
"It provides a lot of out-of-the-box functionalities. You don't have to do too much custom development like other solutions such as Microsoft or NetIQ. It also has a lot of out-of-the-box connectors for different sources, directories, databases, etc. Its cloud version is working very well, and its pricing is okay. Its value for money is fine for most of the customers. It is also very flexible. They have frequent new releases and patches for fixing errors and things like that."
"IdentityIQ's best features are the hassle-free user experience and security."
"It significantly reduces the workload for certification processes."
"The solution’s stability and performance are good."
"Great product to manage the access control of users."
"Security and administration for any new/current access."

Cons

"I would like to see better integration with other business solutions."
"The AWS Directory Service should be easier to integrate."
"I've encountered challenges, particularly with Amazon WorkDocs, which is being deprecated. This has made it necessary to find an alternative document management solution that can handle editing, sharing, and workflow management for documents like Word files and PDFs."
"Some of the security protocols are difficult to understand."
"Our only complaint is that you cannot integrate your Exchange server. Or, if you are planning to install an Exchange server on your Amazon EC2 instance, then you need to configure Active Directory on EC2 instance. We would like for this limitation to be lifted."
"I would like to grant partial access to a table contained in a database without having to provide full access to the whole database."
"AWS Directory Service needs to improve processing."
"Can be improved by including on-premises access for services through Identity Access Management."
"The product is unable to share suggestions with users."
"Finding integration experts for SailPoint in the North American market can be challenging, and transitioning to a no-code or low-code setup could reduce dependence on specialized skills."
"The interface should be simple and easier to use."
"The UI is complex."
"The advanced provisioning features require more improvement."
"I would like to see more Cloud management from this product."
"The UI of the solution could be more customizable so we could change the workflows to suit our needs."
"There are various functions that don't work in IdentityIQ, including the access request reminder, which doesn't go to the approvals in the proper format, so it's hard for users to read."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The pricing is reasonable."
"AWS' pricing is fair, and costs can be cut if you look carefully at when you're using it."
"We pay an annual subscription fee."
"The pricing depends because with AWS there are two types of directory objects: 30,000 and 500,000. It varies. AWS provides the pricing calculators so we can get an estimate from there as per the company requirement of how many users and objects that we need to create. So we can go to that portal, put in the data, and get the quotation. There are no extra licensing fees. It's all included."
"It's difficult to say that the solution saved costs because it is quite expensive."
"The pricing is based on the number of users and is reasonable."
"They are expensive."
"It is affordable licensing."
"We pay an annual licensing cost for SailPoint IdentityIQ."
"As per my knowledge, it runs on a paid partnership model, but I am not sure about it."
"I found the pricing to be relatively high."
"SailPoint IIQ is the best of best. That is reflected in the pricing of the solution. The pricing is based on the number of identities."
