Digitalization PM at a manufacturing company with 1,001-5,000 employees
Platform for documenting and modifying our processes
The tool was used for digital transformation. Our company operates in the automotive industry and needs a transition to digitalization. We utilize the BIC Platform for documenting and modifying our processes, as well as incorporating various elements such as KPIs. It serves as a fundamental tool for numerous aspects of our operations.
AB
Administrator at a healthcare company with 51-200 employees
Supports process modeling and customization but needs better reporting flexibility and UI improvements
As an administrator, I would improve MEGA HOPEX by adding a WYSIWYG feature for building reports, which would be very helpful. Additionally, I would want reporting customization from the front end web application, not only from the Windows app, which is the customizer. If all changes could be made in the web application, that would be beneficial because every time we need to request access to the server, it takes time in large organizations and involves multiple levels of approvals from cybersecurity and IT security, which can block the project. Regarding dashboards in MEGA HOPEX, they could definitely be better. Having something similar to ARIS would make it easier to build dashboards, providing a what-you-see-is-what-you-get experience, allowing me to drag and drop elements, configure them, and test queries. Moreover, RFQL language is not common, so in MEGA HOPEX, I need to learn RFQL querying. In terms of additional features for MEGA HOPEX, I would appreciate more features for workflows. There are limitations in customizing the email notifications sent during workflows. When creating a workflow, I can configure actions and customize the text, but not the header and footer. Therefore, all emails from the tool come with a MEGA HOPEX header. In large organizations like BPM COE, we want to have our own logo, header, and footer in those emails, but this is not configurable, which I find limiting. I would appreciate easier features to customize workflows and create workflows.

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Company wide BPMS tool sustaining a long term quality management best practices to achieve the expected process maturity level but also cutting operation and maintenance costs related to the former tool in use"
"The central dictionary is a valuable feature."
"While this is a new product it has a mature feel from being built by a company with many years in the business."
"This is low-cost and very user friendly. A variety of models are available depending on the needs of the customer."
"I'm in awe of what the software can do."
"The product is easy to use."
"What I find the most valuable is the process workflow. It is really good."
"The tool is very simple and intuitive to use."
"We found the IT portfolio management capability to be very comprehensive and well thought through, the front end is elegant at this point, it's easy to use, it's moderately intuitive, and it meets our needs."
"The ability to customize is valuable."
"The most valuable feature is the completeness of HOPEX's meta-model. It's a strong meta-model that's rigid but comprehensive. It's a logical fit for our understanding of how we want things modeled in our database."
"The most valuable feature is that the software controls everything from a single management window."
"The solution is scalable. If a company needs to expand it, it's completely possible to do so."
"Traceability across architecture domains - business architecture and data technology - can connect the dots and provide an end-to-end view of the architecture landscape, which is one of the powerful strengths of the tool."

Cons

"As the product is very new, some minor features are still missing, but everything is there to handle day-to-day process modeling."
"The solution could improve its connectivity to other systems."
"The product needs improvement regarding the confidentiality of the domain information for the key administrator."
"There are just some things in the new product that are not really functional issues but improvements that BIC will have to make."
"One thing they could improve is the manual."
"There's an issue with the current manual that they're working on."
"Needs a friendlier import/export to other modeling tools."
"There could be continuous AI enhancements for the platform."
"This product is expensive and would be improved by lowering its price."
"The initial setup can be quite complex at first."
"It takes a long time to learn how to use HOPEX. It's hard to work with it because the user interface is bad."
"We have a very close relationship with MEGA representatives in Mexico, and we ask them why they don't offer impact analysis. For example, we have a server in the center and provide the client a view of what's in the peripheral area, like one cluster, application, process area, and services. We want to offer our clients that level of visibility with HOPEX."
"I found that the solution is very expensive for what it does."
"The tool needs to have a viewer portal. Currently, we have to use a custom solution to display information, which requires additional effort and tracking of data on a daily basis. Having a built-in viewer dashboard portal would be beneficial."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Scalability-wise, it is an expensive product."
"Pricing will differ between enterprises based on needs such as customization, but the company uses a standardized algorithm for determining this."
"The product has a high cost."
"The product is reasonably priced for the value it offers. There's a good balance between cost and features."
"The tool is relatively expensive."
"MEGA HOPEX's licensing costs are yearly."
"If you want to use additional features, such as the Risk Management capability, then it is a little too expensive."
"It is very expensive."
"The price of the support depends on the vendors that are reselling this module or the MEGA HOPEX version 5. We are on premium support and are their only partners in the GCC, we have a premium support contract with them. The support we have is not with the client. The client does not bear the cost, it's us who bear the cost."
"I've been told that MEGA HOPEX is very expensive, which is why small organizations dismiss the tool. It's complex and costly versus other simpler and cheaper solutions."
