A stable solution that has very few hardware failures and provides excellent technical support
Our archival is on Dell ECS. Some critical data is on the cloud. The rest is stored on-premise We have government compliances to follow. We manage compliance using the tool. We also have our backups. We must have backups for audits. It is a very good product. We face very few hardware failures.…

It's easy for users to access and saves us a significant amount of money
We use Nutanix Unified Storage for file storage and SMB sharing. My company has around 2,000 to 3,000 users on the platform We have massive storage needs and currently have 20 terabytes of storage Nutanix. We are storing around 10 or 11 terabytes of data on NUS. The cost would be huge if we…

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"It's definitely good for unstructured data. In earlier days, we had Centera, so for the DR it's really good. It has load balancing facility, and we're using it with the Kemp Load Balancer."
"It is 100% stable. It is also scalable."
"The setup was straightforward."
"Competitive object storage platform that's stable and scalable."
"The performance is good."
"We face very few hardware failures."
"What I like best about this product is that it is a complete solution, both hardware, and software, by the same vendor."
"I have been satisfied with the stability."
"We have been able to save local disk space by using Data Lens. We upload 18 GB to the cloud and are able to save 20% to 25%."
"Nutanix Unified Storage is easy for end users to access. They can use it like any other drive on their systems. We have mapped it in the user system so they can scan files and store them. They can use it just like an Android drive."
"The customer service executives of all Nutanix products are active and responsive."
"The interface is quite simple. It is very good. It is easy to configure. It also has a powerful CLI."
"The simplicity of management is valuable because, in more traditional environments, the platform updates are much more complex."
"The most valuable feature is the storage density of the nodes. We went with the HP's low-density nodes."
"They have well-documented best practices and the interface is good."
"The most valuable feature of Nutanix Unified Storage is redundancy."

Cons

"Dell ECS needs to improve its performance."
"Dell ECS could improve the price of the solution. It is expensive."
"Its security can be improved."
"The troubleshooting feature of this solution needs to be improved, to allow organizations to fix issues without having to contact the support team."
"They do not have complete documentation, which is very weak and could be improved."
"The solution needs to provide better integration between this solution and all other kinds of systems."
"They could provide centralized reports."
"It is a good solution, except for the cost."
"I have heard that there have been latency problems."
"We have issues with software updates occasionally."
"The product does not offer one console."
"What's missing in Nutanix Files Storage is the support for multiple intranets or VLANs on the same file from different networks and network devices."
"I haven't had any issues with the solution so far."
"The graphical user interfaces could benefit from more attention to detail."
"Perhaps Unified Storage could be improved by including artificial intelligence to make searches more effective. Also, if someone has access who shouldn't, it could automatically update, so I do not need to physically remove permission. The platform could do it automatically. AI could make it more self-service."
"Some of the new features in the tool cannot be used with just one click, as was possible in the past."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The solution's cost is quite reasonable."
"Dell EMC ECS is too expensive."
"We initially purchased all of the licenses at the same time."
"It's a lease-based model, so it's capacity-based. We already negotiated the price a lot, but we're still doing that with Dell because somehow the product was not installed successfully, so there was a lot of struggle in the distributor territory between Dell and the environment itself. I would give the solution a 6 out of 10 for the pricing. There's a little room for improvement."
"The product is quite expensive."
"The price of Dell ECS should be reduced."
"The price of Dell ECS should be reduced."
"We are not paying for the license at this stage."
"Nutanix is priced a bit higher than some of its competitors. A lot of Chinese companies like Huawei are entering the Saudi Arabian market trying to provide similar solutions for a lower price. It offers a good value, especially the support. Nutanix has a highly competent team. The after-sales support is excellent."
"I'm happy with the cost and licensing because I don't have big volumes."
"In my opinion, the product is fairly priced."
"I am not the one who makes the calls, but it seems to me that it was very competitive. Other solutions would have required dedicated hardware, so an additional CapEx has to be put in place. In that sense, it was definitely a more competitive option to go with Nutanix Files."
"I hope that it will stay the way it is. We have seen the changes in VMware and what happened to them. I have heard that Nutanix will raise the prices, but I hope that they will not do that."
"I find Nutanix Files Storage competitively priced, even its feature set. Its price is seven out of ten."
"Nutanix is very competitive."
"Nutanix Unified Storage is competitively priced. There aren't any competitors that can do much better for the same price."
