Offers replication flexibility across multiple environments, including local centers and secondary sites
It offers key features like any point-in-time recovery without needing scheduled snapshots. It allows for automated VM protection during processes like failover and testing, and it offers replication flexibility across multiple environments, including local centers and secondary sites. It also provides IP address management when network configurations differ across sites.

Technical support has improved my data management process but I encounter GUI and cost challenges
The solution is available in the Azure Marketplace, but approaching directly is more cost-effective. The Marketplace approach incurs additional platform and reporting costs. We initially built Rubrik at host level and DB level. We encountered latency issues when reverting back, with numerous snapshots available. This resulted in increased costs and occupied spaces. I performed manual deletion of snapshots and verified with the Rubrik team for confirmation. The GUI reporting functionality lacks flexibility. For instance, obtaining specific server reports considering drive space and backup quantities is not possible, as it only provides overall reporting.

"The most valuable feature is the ability to change IP addresses when failing a server over."
"I use RecoverPoint for VM for my production-critical system because it gives you general electives for the journals and the point-in-time recovery."
"The most valuable features are the data center recovery administration and the time of recovery."
"The generalization of the journals allows us to go back in time and choose the snapshot suitable for us. We can grab it as needed."
"The solution is quite stable. We haven't experienced any kind of bug or glitch. We haven't experienced crashes."
"The most valuable feature is that it is journal-based and you don't have to replicate a lot of data."
"In the event of any issues or questions, the support is top-notch. We rarely need to use support, but when they are needed, they are always quick to respond and very knowledgeable."
"The initial setup is easy."
"The most valuable feature is the archive to cloud location and the automation around the PowerShell script."
"We used to have to dedicate a full-time employee just to look at and manage the backups and after implementing Rubrik we no longer need a dedicated person."
"We do like the instant recovery... Now, we say, "Okay, give me 15 seconds and I can get this back up for you." And within that 15 seconds it's on and the only thing that we have to do afterwards is vMotion it off of the Rubrik storage back to where it should rest."
"The user interface (UI) is great. It is very lightweight and intuitive."
"Rubrik has automation capabilities that help streamline my workflows."
"The solution's technical support team is very responsive and proactive."

Cons

"In the next release of this software, I would like to see options that help to decrease the bandwidth required, such as compressing the data."
"Maybe integration with Kubernetes for OpenShift would be helpful."
"The configuration process seems a bit challenging, and the installation takes a bit longer than expected."
"The solution is not easy to use. It's actually quite hard."
"The solution is not easy to use. It's actually quite hard. If it could be simplified it might be better for the end user."
"There is a problem with the solution's architecture. First of all, it requires double the resources on the virtual environment to set up one environment."
"The solution currently supports only VMware."
"The price of this product could be lower."
"The functionality is missing, but they are very receptive to our thoughts and ideas."
"There is room for improvement in pricing. After the licensing, the price tends to go up as time goes by."
"They should give more access to the backend capabilities. From a customer point of view, you do not have access to all the features on the system."
"There is room for improvement in pricing. After the licensing, the price tends to go up as time goes by."
"I would like to see more openness for partners to access and assist in system management. Currently, access is limited, often handled by Rubrik personnel, likely due to security concerns."
"It needs more storage array integration options and an easier restore for files that download using a browser."
"At the time of this review, Rubrik is still missing several components to their Office 365 backup offering."
"I would improve the cost part of Rubrik; they should improve in that area."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"It was a part of a backup solution. So, it was free for us."
"The tool is expensive. If one means cheaply priced and ten means expensive, I rate the tool's price as a seven."
"Pricing-wise, it is pretty much fair for any customer who only has a VMware environment. Licensing is based on the number of VMs that you want to protect at any given point in time. Licensing is not based on size."
"This is an expensive product."
"There is a license required for this solution and the pricing depends on how many virtual machines you have."
"This is not a very cheap solution and compared to others, it is expensive."
"There are additional costs like maintenance, and there are some features on their central management piece that don't come with our licensing."
"Rubrik is not cheap. Hopefully, you can archive your data on cheap storage to keep the investment minimal."
"It’s simple, straightforward, and we were able to see 50% hard savings."
"It is a great value, but its cost is still a bit high."
"Rubrik's competitive pricing and strong return on investment make it a compelling choice, especially compared to alternatives like Data Domain and Avamar. Commvault was considered but deemed too expensive."
"We pay annually for the license for Rubrik. There are no additional costs. Initially, we needed to set it up, negotiate and finalize the offer."
"Rubrik is not the cheapest solution, but we've been happy with the time savings that we have seen. At least from what we have spent so far, we have been happy with the return on investment."
"Originally, we bought the units on perpetual licenses. Now, we have switched to Rubrik Go. I think the Rubrik Go subscription is a better model, where it is based on your onsite environment and you consume what you use."
