Offers replication flexibility across multiple environments, including local centers and secondary sites
It offers key features like any point-in-time recovery without needing scheduled snapshots. It allows for automated VM protection during processes like failover and testing, and it offers replication flexibility across multiple environments, including local centers and secondary sites. It also provides IP address management when network configurations differ across sites.

Technical support has improved my data management process but I encounter GUI and cost challenges
The solution is available in the Azure Marketplace, but approaching directly is more cost-effective. The Marketplace approach incurs additional platform and reporting costs. We initially built Rubrik at host level and DB level. We encountered latency issues when reverting back, with numerous snapshots available. This resulted in increased costs and occupied spaces. I performed manual deletion of snapshots and verified with the Rubrik team for confirmation. The GUI reporting functionality lacks flexibility. For instance, obtaining specific server reports considering drive space and backup quantities is not possible, as it only provides overall reporting.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The installation is straightforward if the version you have is compatible with your infrastructure."
"The most valuable feature is the ability to change IP addresses when failing a server over."
"I use RecoverPoint for VM for my production-critical system because it gives you general electives for the journals and the point-in-time recovery."
"One person can do the whole implementation, monitoring, and maintenance of the solution."
"Point-in-time recovery and ease of deployment are valuable."
"The technical support from Dell is excellent."
"The generalization of the journals allows us to go back in time and choose the snapshot suitable for us. We can grab it as needed."
"RecoverPoint replicates workloads fast."
"Time dedicated to backup was drastically reduced, with reduced infrastructure complexity and easy, fast restores."
"It has reduced our maintenance efforts. The amount of time and effort that would have gone in troubleshooting various issues related a data crash has been addressed by Rubrik. So, it has helped to improve our productivity. The data is being captured about our customers periodically that is secure and safe."
"Rubrik has brought all of our backups under a single pane of glass and made recovery extremely simple."
"The Live Mount feature is one of the main features we use; it is saving us time in restoring the VMs, allowing us to give them quickly to the developers for testing, resulting in a faster turnaround time."
"There is a live-restore feature, their Live Mount, and the way it works we can instantly recover a VM, a past backup, to be directly attached to our VMware environment. Rubrik will act as a disk for it. It's like an instant restore. Within a few minutes our VM is up and running. And then, if we want to restore it, we can just migrate it to our actual storage."
"Rubrik simplifies our data backup and recovery processes significantly. It's very straightforward to use. We start by tagging through VMware, and everything tagged for Rubrik is backed up automatically. Backups are much better and faster because Rubrik takes a full snapshot of the virtual machine. We recently conducted a verification by performing a restore, and even during the restore process, we could bring up the server in less than 10-15 minutes. Additionally, we have set up alerts for sensitive data, which helps us track data."
"Rubrik is able to hit about 95% to 98% of the things that we want to do, which is not going to be the case for every company, but it will fit most customers' needs."
"With an easy backup process, simple and fast recovery process, ability to scale out and still keep a single deduplication domain and a fast storage appliance, all I can think of to say is to shut up and take my money."

Cons

"It should have features for recovering a group of virtual machines and full-scale security. For recovering all the VMs at once, they don't have a GUI option, and we have to use the command line."
"The solution is not easy to use. It's actually quite hard."
"In some cases, the response times could improve, but we haven't had issues with their support."
"There is a problem with the solution's architecture. First of all, it requires double the resources on the virtual environment to set up one environment."
"Their L1 support is not so good as of now. They have recently outsourced to a company, and they are not doing good."
"It would be good to have a critical application on the customer side."
"Although we can change the IP address, it would be good to have some other sort of orchestration to make life easier to manage when we failover."
"The price of this product could be lower."
"The customer service and support could be a bit faster."
"The reporting in the dashboard and reporting for extractions both need improvement. I would suggest making them easier to understand and use, not just out-of-the-box."
"They need to find a solution for SMBs. It is currently only suitable for enterprises or big customers. They need to find a solution that suits SMBs."
"I would love to be able to just get from the dashboard to a file that I need, or a system that I need."
"We would like to see more support for Hyper-V."
"There is always room for improvement with some shortcuts for the web interface. They could make it even more beautiful."
"There could be better reporting and better filtering."
"The deployment and configuration of the backup service is something that could be streamlined a little bit, particularly when you're trying to do a SQL workload."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The tool is expensive. If one means cheaply priced and ten means expensive, I rate the tool's price as a seven."
"It was a part of a backup solution. So, it was free for us."
"This is an expensive product."
"This is not a very cheap solution and compared to others, it is expensive."
"There is a license required for this solution and the pricing depends on how many virtual machines you have."
"Pricing-wise, it is pretty much fair for any customer who only has a VMware environment. Licensing is based on the number of VMs that you want to protect at any given point in time. Licensing is not based on size."
"It is an expensive product."
"There is a license requirement for the solution. If you expand or if the maintenance period expires, there's a license renewal as well."
"You need to understand what you're getting for the price. You are getting a backup solution, which is state of the art and works absolutely flawlessly. You are getting the storage needed to store your backups. You have all the sexy features that a modern backup solution can provide you, like deduplication, erasure coding, compression, fast execution time, secured data, and top-notch customer support. So, it might be expensive on paper. It's not free, but when you analyze what you are getting and the time you can spend on other stuff, then Rubrik is very cost-efficient."
"We pay yearly and it's based on the number of bricks."
"Its price tends to go up with time. Its pricing definitely has room for improvement. If you negotiate right with them, you might get a good price. Support is a part of the package, and every three years, when we renew our contract, we get new hardware."
"The initial setup cost includes support and maintenance costs, followed by a monthly fee."
"I don't remember the cost, but I know that for Veeam, we were spending almost $250,000 a year for 205 licenses. It was an enterprise version. When we purchased Rubrik, it was just a little bit more. It was not a terribly huge amount, and if I recall, that was for three years of support as well. So, Veeam priced itself out of the market at a certain point in time."
"Rubrik's support is definitely on the expensive side, but I consider it to be top of the line. We incur no additional costs beyond the standard licensing fees."
