Provides decent protection for the LAN but complicated interface
We had some licensing issues with its web filtering capabilities. That's why we migrated our web filtering to Cisco Umbrella. Moreover, the interface is complicated. It's difficult to locate all the necessary menus and functions. For example, one of the many issues is with SSH. Even now, we haven't successfully opened the port to connect using SSH mode when we want to change the configuration. It's like a black box—not very open to changes and customization. It's simply not easy to configure. There are other problems, too. For example regarding Forcepoint's Websense component. We had a lot of problems managing the web settings within Websense. That's why we migrated to Cisco Umbrella for cloud-based web filtering. It's not that Forcepoint is inherently bad. The issue is that it's not user-friendly. It is not easy to use. The developers need to redesign the interface (GUI) for better management. It is very difficult to manage. For example, simple actions require too many clicks compared to FortiGate or Palo Alto. That's the main problem.

A tool to help businesses create a blockage for external traffic
The tool improved the security in our company's virtualized environment, as it was helpful in creating an additional layer of security for the organization and for the use of the internet. The tool was the most important product to be implemented in the organization. To be able for our organization to build our services, we need to operate inside a certain network while ensuring that the outside traffic gets blocked by using the firewall services from the tool, as it helps to create a secure network inside our company. Without the tool in our organization, our network would have been compromised. The aforementioned area consists of details related to how the tool helps with the workload protection aspect. I recommend the solution to others who plan to use it since it helps in areas where it helps block a particular website with the help of the firewall functionalities that it possesses. The tool also helps block outside traffic, and it is mandatory to implement a firewall as an organization grows for the smooth operations of business. I rate the tool a ten out of ten.

"Forcepoint Next Generation Firewall is very simple, easy to use, and flexible."
"The feature that we like the most about Forcepoint is that we know the technology and have confidence in it. We can have several functionalities to simplify operations and management. We can combine functionalities like log ownership to review the number of devices in the infrastructure."
"I have two offices, and I can route the internet of both offices using the same product. The connectivity is great."
"The solution offers sandboxing, which can be integrated at any time."
"We find the product to be stable and reliable in terms of performance."
"The most valuable feature is SD-WAN."
"When our customer needs some optimization, along with performance and security. If they want everything in one package, I recommend Forcepoint because they have everything."
"They offer templates that provide detailed reports categorized by user, device, and internal network access."
"Initial setup is very straightforward with a wizard, if needed."
"The most valuable feature is geofencing, where we can block all access from all non-domestic locations."
"The most valuable feature is that its IPsec works perfectly."
"Regarding specific features, I appreciate the option for external selection, where you can choose either to use a default or create a self-description. This simplifies the process compared to other vendors that require creating a test extension profile and then applying it to the installation. With FortiGate, there is a streamlined approach. From the benefits perspective, clients mainly see cost reduction, especially with FortiGate VM Firewall, as it eliminates the need for additional hardware."
"I find the simplicity to be most valuable."
"It offers the same robust features and functionality in virtual, on-premise, and traditional data center environments."
"The performance overall is very good."
"The EPM bundle is a good feature."

Cons

"The user interface could be improved."
"It could use better throughput on some of the smaller boxes for the branch offices."
"The central management for the FortiGate Fortinet Firewall needs improvement. They have the manager to do the essential management for both SD-WAN and for the security policy. They should also improve the SD-WAN function."
"It would be ideal if they had some sort of GUI interface for troubleshooting and diagnostics."
"It would be a benefit if Fortinet would release a one-stop solution that is better integrated with other products and an automated emergency response system."
"Fortinet FortiGate needs to improve the logging and reporting. Additionally, the next-generation application's policies should be improved. When they were released they had bugs."
"Sometimes you do need to know some CLI commands, so it's a bit harder for technicians or new people that don't know it."
"To some degree, it's almost a question as to why some of this stuff isn't simpler. For example, for an AP deployment, while it's integrated, the number of steps that you have to go through in order to get the AP up, seems like a lot."
"This solution would be improved with the inclusion of custom reporting."
"They need to improve their alerts."
"Forcepoint would be improved if there were more training available."
"We feel the product's technical support could be better, as this relates to the solution itself, to the installation of the product, and to having a proper understanding of the case."
"The security features need to be improved."
"They should have a GUI on the product itself, not a separate management tool to be used on the management server or on a server to be used to manage the file. It should be all in one device. The device should be controlled through its own GUI. They also have to improve the learning center and the documents as the documents don't really help."
"The solution needs to build upon its network functionality. It needs to be a bit smarter."
"They need to work on stability, it has not been the best in our experience."
"The solution can improve by adding separate interfaces for proxy and flow-based usage."
"We'd like to have more customization and easier customization of policies."
"We are experiencing a failed login issue. There should also be improvements in functionalities we store to enhance our services."
"We encountered scalability issues in IPSec Module. The tunnels freeze sometimes."
"Web filtering is a feature that needs some improvement. There should be some additional features to allow active users to change their own passwords."
"In the next release, we would like to see full integration with VMware NSX virtualized networks."
"The user interface needs to be improved."
"The tool does not have a good name in the market, consisting of enterprise-class businesses, making it an area where the product lacks and needs to improve."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"For medium and enterprise organizations, FortiGate is more affordable."
"The licensing costs are very low."
"The support subscription for the solution is annual. You are paying for support and there are two levels of support, professional and advanced."
"Fortinet costs are 25% lower than the high-cost provider. There is an equipment cost and a recurring monthly cost for licenses and technical support."
"The license is too expensive to renew. The license renewal process is also complex."
"It was probably about $2,500 per firewall. It was all included. It included support, services, threat management software, and 24/7 FortiCare on it. Cisco products are more expensive."
"If you compare Fortinet FortiGate with Sophos and other firewall products available in the market, this solution is affordable."
"The price of Fortinet FortiGate is reasonable for an SME."
"Everything in Forcepoint comes with an individual license, which is kind of a problem. In our last meeting, they said that it may change at the beginning of 2021, and they will try to merge some licenses together. Customers will get more features than what they got previously. We will wait and see."
"We would love to take other solution from Forcepoint, but unfortunately the price is too high. That's why we are not considering using Forcepoing for our proxy and DLB. They have a very good DLB, but the matter in the end is the cost."
"The pricing should be more competitive against other vendors in the market."
"It requires a yearly subscription."
"The big advantage of this solution is that we can select the right model for our requirements, which is not too expensive."
"Next Generation Firewall is moderately priced."
"Forcepoint is very expensive but it's really secure."
"The cost is fair, but it could be improved."
"The price of the solution could be less expensive. There are some features that have to be purchased separately that have their own license."
"There should be a reduction in the setup price and licensing costs."
"It is a medium-priced product."
"The price of this product is great compared to others."
"It is an expensive solution if you are migrating from an open source solution."
"I rate the product price a seven on a scale of one to ten, where one is a low price, and ten is a high price."
"There is an annual license required to use the solution."
"There are no additional costs beyond the standard fee."
