We can automate event-based handling solutions, is stable, and is great for heavy traffic
The solution has very heavy features. Similar to when we get an app, usually, it's less than what we want. When we send all our logs over to the analyzer, it almost crashed on the first try. We must first get our logs tuned up and then set up the Fortinet FortiAnalyzer or it will crash. This is very complicated and heavy work for such a simple task, and it's a big issue for that app. The setup of the solution can be improved because it is currently complex. The cost of the solution is high and can be improved.

Shows login failures and server issues but search functions and filters could be improved
Kiwi Syslog shows login failures and server issues. I'm using version 9.8.1. It's deployed on-premises. There are four people in my organization who are using this solution. They're all infrastructure engineers The best thing about Kiwi Syslog is that it filters logs into different levels. It's…

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"There are customizable workflows that you can work with. You can automate certain tasks in FortiAnaylzer in the incidents and events sections."
"One of the greatest advantages of Fortinet FortiAnalyzer is its ability to integrate with a variety of software and solutions, providing comprehensive visibility into the network. The solution's strength lies in its capability to work with Fortinet's own products, such as the FortiAP access point, which allows for deep monitoring, automation, correlation, and incident management. However, this functionality is not present when utilizing other products, such as those from Cisco, limiting the visibility and benefits that can be gained."
"It is one of the best firewall products."
"It's a very stable product."
"Provides detailed log reports"
"We like the fact that we can run minute-by-minute reporting form this solution."
"Special notifications about compromised phones are valuable because we have some guest networks, and sometimes, people are connecting phones that are connected to compromised websites. We want to be informed about it. We sometimes have some cases where we want to analyze the connection from inside to outside ports. So, it helps with a lot of things. It depends on our needs."
"The event handling solution in the platform is very good and useful."
"Simplicity is the most valuable feature."
"The most valuable feature of SolarWinds Kiwi Syslog Server is its performance and management. Additionally, the solution integrates well."
"The best thing about Kiwi Syslog is that it filters logs into different levels."
"We are very happy with the stability of the solution."
"The most valuable feature of this solution is the alerting based on the security logs."

Cons

"Technical support could respond to queries faster."
"The solution is expensive."
"We are concerned about the compliance of our policy and institutional philosophy."
"The pricing could be better. They could work to make it more competitive on the market."
"I would like to see an improvement in the technical support. Stronger authentication will also be a plus."
"I feel that Fortinet FortiAnalyzer is a little bit heavy, making it an area where improvements are required."
"The following could be better: operation and maintenance, high-availability architecture, and management link embedded in the transmission link."
"We should be able to do the patch upgrades in a centralized manner. This functionality is currently not there. It would be good to be able to do the firmware updates from one place and at the same time. Currently, if we want to update all appliances, we require FortiManager, which is another solution from Fortinet. Its documentation can be improved. It will be helpful for implementing the product and gaining knowledge for management purposes."
"SolarWinds Kiwi Syslog Server could improve by reducing the price."
"Technical support could definitely be better."
"I would like to see a more user-friendly and customizable dashboard."
"I would like to see better search functions and better filters in the next release."
"I would like to have email notifications for emergency logs."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"FortiAnalyzer was in the product itself, but two years ago they split it from Fortinet. We paid the license two years ago."
"I do not know the price of Fortinet FortiAnalyzer. I did not pay for it, but I know the price of other Fortinet products. They are not cheap. I am from Poland. We have Zloty, not Euro, so for us, everything is expensive."
"I rate the product's price a six on a scale of one to ten, where one is cheap, and ten is expensive."
"Fortinet FortiAnalyzer is very expensive."
"It is expensive for small business customers. It is only available for customers with a high number of firewalls to manage or to report. If a customer has only five boxes of FortiGate, the price of FortiAnalyzer can be more than the five boxes. So, we can't easily put this solution for small business customers."
"The price is not expensive when compared to other solutions like Palo Alto."
"The cost and pricing should be in accordance with the calculation of log storage capacity for a time period required for historical analysis."
"When you compare with other firewall vendors, FortiAnalyzer is quite competitive in pricing."
"We subscribe and pay directly on the website."
"The price of SolarWinds Kiwi Syslog Server could improve."
