Provides APIs for everything and has good protection through encryption
As a lead developer, I struggled with the documentation for GCP. This could be improved by being made more clear. Also, the interface for managing file storage in the buckets could be improved, together with improved search and filter options. For the next release, I would like to see the solution behave more like a regular file-based system. Google Cloud Storage depends on OS, or it's supposed to be on Google Drive or another storage service. Google Storage files are sometimes very different. The solution should be expanded to be like a file-based system so that you can build a fast tool that stores files in Google Drive.

Setup takes minimal efforts and good product to keep files for our ETL process
We use it for ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes. We get files from different tools related to our micro-processing, copy them into Azure File Storage, and then consume them for parsing and loading It's good overall. We just use Azure File Storage as a way to keep files for our ETL process.…

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"It provides the necessary support and flexibility to manage data storage effectively, especially during times of variable data flow."
"Nearline is highly stable."
"I find the flexibility in storing documents or data and the ease of retrieval valuable with this solution."
"The data structure and the types of data that are supported are very good."
"The capacity and space on offer are excellent."
"The most valuable feature of Nearline is the access. It's helpful to move data that is generated once a month, such as salary information, to Nearline."
"Google is always introducing new features and tends to have a new release every month."
"It can isolate files and stop them from corrupting other files."
"It is a good service for file storage."
"We have not explored the desktop performance analysis of the file storage, but the user interface, API, and the response that we receive over the file storage are very good. We have a lot of customers that connect to the client-side, click the images, and upload them. The beauty of the solution is that we can mount the file storage into a critical server as well as an external drive. The speed that we receive with the images is pretty good."
"What I like about Microsoft Azure File Storage is its convenience for customers, cost-effectiveness, and high availability."
"The initial setup is fairly easy."
"Its most valuable features are speed and security."
"Azure File Storage gives good value for money, so I don't find it expensive."
"The solution can scale to fit any requirement."
"The solution is easy to use."

Cons

"The interface for managing file storage in the buckets could be improved."
"The UI could be a little bit more effective."
"They need a better, more visual, user interface for folders and files."
"They should provide more options or flexibility in terms of pricing."
"The solution needs to offer better System Information and Event Management (SEIM). I'd like to discover how we could implement something like that within Google's cloud."
"The suggestion for improvement primarily revolves around cost efficiency."
"Nearline security could be better. The solution could integrate better with SEIM tools."
"The pricing is quite high."
"The support could improve."
"The way retention policies are applied could be more optimized."
"The pricing and technical support could be better."
"One thing that Azure File Storage could help us with is some kind of impact assessment. When we talk to some of our larger customers who have between 500 and 1,000 applications, we normally do an assessment of all these applications and then tell them which ones are ready to be lifted and shifted, and which ones need to re-architected. It would really help if Azure File Storage could come up with a better way to give estimations of the total investment required, including all costs incurred during the migration."
"The product name keeps changing. It can be confusing when product names change frequently, especially with Microsoft. Sometimes, if you refer to a product by a certain name last year, it might have a different name six months later."
"Microsoft Azure File Storage is not that easy to use."
"Microsoft Azure File Storage is not that scalable. Once you reach the boundaries, you need to migrate to another solution."
"The tool needs to add more controls and enhance Power BI. For instance, I'm just suggesting the visualization layer. Power BI can increase visualization as much as possible, and the product can add more controls to the data flows."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Right now, for the number of servers and the storage that I have, I would say I'm charged between $125 and $150 per month."
"Google Cloud Storage Nearline is very inexpensive. It costs us less than $50 a month to store our files. We use approximately 10 terabytes. Overall, I would rate the product a five out of five for affordability."
"There are fewer hidden costs involved compared to other solutions, and when our customer is already a Microsoft partner, they typically have access to more affordable fees."
"We have Microsoft Azure File Storage's enterprise license."
"The product must improve its price."
"The licensing cost for Microsoft Azure File Storage comes with an agreement from Microsoft."
"The pricing is usually dependent on your storage requirements. Overall, I believe Microsoft Azure File Storage's price is reasonable."
"The product's pricing need improvement."
"The solution is a bit pricey compared to AWS and Google."
"Microsoft Azure File Storage is expensive."

The UI could be a little bit more effective. Now, the UI is just a white background, but it's really helpful if there are options to change the theme. I prefer that.

As for the current licensing and payment structure, it's almost pay-as-you-go. Monthly is okay. But maybe we'll get a better price if we have a long-term contract and pay monthly.
