With an easy setup phase in place, it is suitable for small and large-sized businesses
When you speak of any enhancements in the product, you need to shift to the tool's commercial mode. You get more features in the solution if you pour in more money. If a customer needs some features in the solution, they will have to buy it since certain features are not loaded by default in the server. With entry-level licenses, servers are shipped to customers free of cost. Customers need to pay if they want more and more features in the solution. Every OEM solution in the market, including HPE ProLiant DL, operates similarly. The overall cost of the product needs to be lower, as it is one of the areas of concern in the product.

Extremely stable, good ROI, and scalable
The most valuable feature of our machines is their ability to replace faulty parts without causing any downtime. Our servers are equipped with advanced technology, making it possible to replace defective parts without having to bring down the servers. This is crucial, as any disruption to our services would result in inconvenience to our customers. Therefore, being able to service the machines and replace parts without causing any downtime is highly beneficial.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"In regards to the components that you can put into the servers, I feel that HP provides a wider variety of parts in comparison to Dell. For example, there is the ILO which is a network cable that goes into the server and reports back with an abundance of information about the server, even when it is off."
"We get good performance with HPE ProLiant DL Servers. They are really stable. We run all our applications smoothly. We have no problem at all."
"Very practical and easy to maintain."
"The hardware is reliable."
"HPE service in Taiwan is quick and professional, and ProLiant is cost-effective compared to Dell. Dell is good for one or two servers, but HPE is cheaper than Dell for a large deployment. Cost is the most important thing in the market."
"HP ProLiant servers provide redundant solutions for almost everything. You can set up multiple power supplies, with a primary power source and a secondary power supply connected on UPS. If the power goes out in the building, the UPS will supply power to the host at all times. The solution can run on batteries for many hours, depending on your battery and UPS capacity."
"The solution is stable."
"The feature that I find the most valuable is that all alerts are integrated with HPE InfoSight. Any problem related to an HPE server can be solved remotely at L1, L2 level."
"On the security side, we get regular security patch updates and system hardening. There are free tools available to harden the system."
"The performance and stability are great."
"IBM Power Systems are secure and have fast processing."
"The main feature that I have found most valuable is PowerVM - its virtualization feature which is the most powerful."
"Power Systems is like a dream solution for every IT person because it has redundancy, and it doesn't stop. It doesn't get affected easily. I don't see any weaknesses in this solution. At the moment, we have Power8. It is stable and runs smoothly. We have a big load, and it is working very well. It can be customized based on our needs. Flash copy is helping us amazingly. We have virtualization for vDisks, which is again very helpful. We are working on this virtualization technology, and we have a team that is working on redundancy and architecture."
"IBM Power Systems' best features are its reliability, resilience, and performance per rack unit."
"The most valuable feature of the solution stems from the fact that the hardware is really good and reliable."
"From a software developer standpoint, virtualization is really the key, as we can more easily spin up a new partition, virtual instance of IBM i."

Cons

"The price of the solution could be less expensive to be more competitive."
"The price of this solution should be lowered to make it more competitive."
"On the software side, I would like for the management of the server overall (including reviewing its health) to be a bit easier. Right now, we have something that sits on the server to make sure all hardware drivers and other thing are up to date. This is a pain to set up."
"The most pressing issue is that downloads depend at present on the current period."
"HPE ProLiant DL Servers are customizable, but when you first deploy them, you basically have to rebuild configurations on them. This is true for large orders. But for small orders, you will be tied up with previous configurations of some other brand like Dell."
"The initial configuration process could be simpler."
"We would like to see remote monitoring capabilities added."
"The hardware was frequently faulty and sometimes broke down."
"IBM Power Systems could improve by having a cloud feature."
"It does not offer the ability to run any X86 or X64 Intel architecture-based application on Power Systems. There are a lot of applications, lots of business use cases that do not support this architecture as of now. If somehow application tasks can be ported on to IBM Power Systems, that would be a big improvement."
"Sometimes, the availability of additional services can be a challenge. Certain IBM software takes time to deliver to the client. It can be slow."
"The solution is quite expensive."
"The solution is highly-priced."
"The pricing is high."
"Its pricing could be better."
"One of the main challenges with IBM Power Systems is the functionality of live partnership mobility."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The price of HPE ProLiant DL Servers is reasonable, but because of covid and other factors, the price could be reduced. The license is paid annually."
"There are less expensive solutions than HPE ProLiant DL Servers. However, there is a lot of value in this solution."
"I like the price of this product and the add-on components. It is cheaper than Dell and is a one-time hardware purchase with minimal ongoing costs."
"They should reduce the prices as it is a significant concern for developing countries."
"The solution comes with a one time perpetual license which is included with the server."
"It is expensive. Its price should be better."
"The price of the product is a little high."
"They need to work with Microsoft to make the licensing costs better and more efficient."
"The price of IBM Power Systems is expensive and could improve."
"When there is an error in the SAS drive of 10,000 RPM, my company buys support for 1,500 USD."
"IBM Power is more expensive than other rack-mount servers, and you have to have a license for everything, including cores and memory."
"IBM Power Systems is a really expensive product."
"The price of the solution could be somewhat better and this is what lowers my rating of it to a seven or eight out of ten."
"Its price depends on the sizing."
"The pricing is reasonable."
"The solution's pricing is very, very high compared to other platforms."
