Cost-effective and can be used to host OIC and APEX
Earlier, when we created an SR (Service Request), it used to be personally addressed by a person till closure. Nowadays, users are routed to Oracle Cloud Connect, a MetaLink where you find your documents. We are not seeing much personal attention from Oracle on addressing issues. People come up with different experiences and knowledge levels. There is no human guidance, and users are routed to Oracle Cloud Connect. It is good for some people who know everything and can understand everything. However, our problem may not be exactly the same as the one given in Oracle Cloud Connect. Being routed to Oracle Cloud Connect is not a good experience with the customer. Earlier, an SR used to be personally handled by a person who used to explain and give all the information. We used to go through the information, understand it, have our questions addressed, and then close it. That's how it used to happen. Nowadays, every SR is referred to Oracle Cloud Connect without a person actually handling the customer.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The beauty of cloud service providers, especially public cloud service providers, is that they are scalable every time when you need them because their payment model is pay-as-you-go."
"This product is very good because it is accessible in remote locations, and anyone can deploy from any place."
"The most valuable feature of IBM Public Cloud is the AI integrations."
"There is no installation for this product because it is a cloud product."
"For non-complex applications, the IBM Cloud works fine and the price is much lower than the competitors."
"An advantage of IBM Public Cloud is the bare metal server. We can take the bare metal server. It's not shared with anyone. We can deploy our applications without sharing them with anyone. That is an advantage of IBM Public Cloud."
"I've found the stability to be excellent. The performance is good."
"It is a scalable product. You can scale it up and down."
"In terms of features, upgradeability to the latest version of Oracle suites has been a good feature. All we have to do is just patching or an upgrade, it's pretty easy. Then, it gets regularly updated. That's what I like about it."
"Oracle Cloud has wonderful features and offerings as a service. It's not just a pure-play cloud product or SaaS application. It has a complete suite from infrastructure to platform as a service to software as a service, and this is what I find most valuable in Oracle Cloud. For infrastructure on the cloud or infrastructure as a service on the cloud, there's OCI (Oracle Cloud Infrastructure). Oracle Cloud is easily available. You just click it. I also found the feature of creating a landing zone valuable. Oracle Cloud is also very flexible as it lets you have a hybrid cloud model along with other cloud solutions. I also like that it offers good management on the cloud. Oracle Cloud is ready to use as a service, and that's wonderful because the time to market is very quick. I also like that Oracle Cloud offers high performance and high availability. A lot of people claim that there's high availability in their companies' cloud operations, but technically speaking, pure high availability in today's context is found in Oracle Cloud."
"The environment is super fast so you get all the underlying machines behind the data. It's a good processing machine, especially in the Generation Two Cloud."
"Oracle Cloud Platform is a good solution because with large data platforms the data migration can be a challenge and this is the reason to move and migrate towards the cloud from on-premises."
"The stability of the solution is very good...The technical support is good."
"The technical support is good, they have been responsive and helpful."
"The solution is easy to use."
"OCI's best features are its price, databases, and Linux compatibility."

Cons

"Maybe performance enhancers and reports could be better improved. If they do so, it would be better. Of all the drawbacks I saw, this would be the biggest enhancement."
"The initial setup and the pricing are areas that need improvement."
"Normally, for any cloud, we get a lot of information on the web, but that is missing in the case of IBM Public Cloud. We need some technical support documents. That is the only thing missing in IBM Public Cloud."
"Support could be improved."
"The solution’s pricing could be improved."
"There is not a lot of support for this solution, which is something that needs to be improved."
"While they have about 99% of what we need, the only exception, perhaps, was the push notification feature that was discontinued. They delayed the replacement product."
"They could improve on customizing reporting capabilities."
"It could be improved on the user-friendly side."
"The solution requires tighter integration capabilities."
"Technical support could be a bit better."
"The functionalities could be simplified as it is a bit difficult to learn."
"In general, the systems application needs improvement."
"It isn't easy to get qualified people who know how to work on this tool. All my administrators are learning as they go. Since this is the only cloud solution provider in Saudi Arabia, and it has only been around for one year, I am sure that this will change with time."
"The packaging part of the software needs improvement. It lacks customization abilities for users. Giving them VMs for machine learning or running their own programs like Azure and Amazon, for example. Things like scalability based on the requirement of the tools. Oracle still lacks these kinds of things. For example, if you need a VM from Oracle, you need to pay for a monthly fee. They started developing containership but it's still at the initial stage and it's still lacking. They also need to develop integration between packages."
"There's a need for further customization to unlock the platform's full potential."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"It pretty much has a standard price. There is no hidden price with IBM Public Cloud."
"The licensing fees are straightforward and predictable."
"Pricing is not as fair as Amazon or Azure."
"The price of IBM Cloud is very cheap compared to competitors AWS and Azure."
"In order to be competitive, you have to commit to a contract for at least one year, but you pay a fixed monthly fee."
"We are using the trial version of this solution, so we have not paid anything."
"IBM Public Cloud is pretty cheap. They have an ongoing free tier that basically won't expire, so as long as your solution is small enough, you can have a test set that you can use for demos, which will cost you almost nothing."
"IBM has a lesser price compared to other cloud service providers like Azure and AWS."
"I rate Oracle Cloud three to four out of ten on a scale from one to ten, where one is cheap, and ten is expensive."
"It is cheaper as a solution model. It isn’t cheaper than SAP but offers more features and competition."
"The cost may be a bit high for many potential users."
"The solution is expensive. I would rate the pricing as ten out of ten, where one is cheap and ten is expensive."
"Costing depends on if you have an existing license for the application and for the operating system."
"Oracle Cloud Platform's pricing is comparable to other solutions, but it is definitely not cheap."
"Improvements can be made with respect to flexibility in the licensing model."
"The licenses for this solution are very comprehensive and, therefore, very economical; there is only one cost, and it covers all available features without any chargeable add-ons."
