Efficient data integration and transformation with seamless cloud-native integration
In our small business unit, we currently have around four users, with two of them utilizing Matillion within our organization. Considering our growing needs, we're contemplating transitioning to an enterprise SaaS solution where we would share the same instance. Currently, each user is billed individually, but consolidating to a shared instance seems more efficient. Scalability is excellent when using the SaaS solution, easily reaching a rating of ten out of ten. Each data pipeline request is encapsulated within a Docker container and spun off, allowing for instant scalability. Overall, I would rate it a nine out of ten in terms of performance and scalability.

Can seamlessly translate protocols and produce fairly quick results
Using the solution was great. It was part of the project that we didn't worry that much about. What I also liked about it was that even though I'm not that technical, I could go in and look at thoughts and events and confirm that the information we were looking for was making it across. I could check at the interface level and lessen the burden on validation within the application. The instrumentation within the solution is important. The ease of implementation is very important. Our partner development team had little trouble dealing with these diverse systems, with JSON on the one hand and SOAP on the other. The product’s ability to seamlessly translate protocols is great. The API-led connectivity is great. The reason that we took on the product was that we wanted to learn about it. We wanted to figure out how to use it. A big payoff for this will be in EHR integrations. These systems are all alike, yet they are all different. They all use EPIC, and each installation is a little bit different. It’s a challenge when we go to different hospitals. MuleSoft has made a name for itself in using the integrations.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"It's been able to do everything we require."
"The most valuable feature of Matillion ETL is the ETL. The solution is open-source which provides advantages, such as good performance and high efficiency. Additionally, it supports three data types which eliminates predefining the data, and we can write script models in Python."
"The product has a good user interface."
"The tool's middle-dimensional structure significantly simplifies obtaining the right data at the appropriate level. This feature makes deploying our applications easier since we utilize a single source without publishing data from various sources."
"The most valuable feature of Matillion ETL is its user-friendly graphical interface."
"It has good integrations with Amazon Redshift and other AWS services."
"The solution's most valuable feature is the CDC (Change Data Capture) component."
"It's highly scalable. It takes upon itself the Redshift scalability, so it's very good."
"We use simple queues and exchanges to route messages to multiple queues. The publish/subscribe model is also helpful."
"The API toolkit is the solution's most valuable aspect at this time, for our organization."
"It is very easy to use for building connectors. It comes with a lot of connectors. For example, it has different adapters for NetSuite, which are very easy to use. It also has Salesforce connectors. The object store feature is also really easy to use. Mule Anypoint Platform is also good in terms of performance and how it is managed behind the scenes."
"The initial setup is quite easy because the solution has a good interface through which the configuration, mapping, and so on can be done."
"It's easy to use and comes as a bundle package with the Anypoint Platform, removing the need for any complex setup."
"It is a stable product...The initial setup was simple."
"The solution is very scalable with solid performance and the capability of extending it using any custom Java in case you don't have anything out of the box. MDP is strong. It is good compared to other products regarding its capabilities in managing or orchestrating the issue load."
"The most valuable feature is their integrations and very good API management."

Cons

"The product must enhance its near-real-time data capture feature."
"Sometimes, we have issues with the solution's stability and need to restart it for three weeks or more."
"To complete the pipeline, they might want to include some connectors which would put the data into different platforms. This would be helpful."
"Matillion ETL should include more enhanced capabilities for extracting data from the SAP systems."
"In the next release, we would like to have connections to more databases."
"The current version is a bit more limited because it's on a virtual machine, and everything executes on that one virtual machine."
"While the UI is good, it could be improved in its efficiency and made easier to use."
"It can have multi-environment support. We should be able to deploy it in different environments. Its integration with SAP connection is not so nice, which should be improved. It can also support an on-prem database."
"The initial setup should be made easy and the documentation should have some guidance."
"Mule Anypoint Platform is complex for beginners. Users without programming skills will find it complex. It should also improve its pricing."
"Price-wise, it is a good product since it is reasonably priced...Mule Anypoint Platform can get too complex for non-technical people."
"This becomes an expensive solution over time."
"The runtime management and connectors could use some work and are vulnerable to breakage after upgrades."
"Lacks intelligent management data and intelligent mappings."
"Mule Anypoint Platform should improve its pricing. In my experience, a customer using the sandbox version couldn't upgrade to the final version because it exceeded their budget. Another area for improvement is the login mechanism. We need to integrate with third-party products for strong authentication, but it would be better if MuleSoft had its own robust login mechanism."
"Mule Anypoint Platform could improve by having more up-to-date adapters to do work in a digital space."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"It was very easy to purchase through the AWS Marketplace, but it was also expensive."
"The AWS pricing and licensing are a cost-effective solution for data integration needs."
"The prices needs to be lower."
"The absence of licensing commitments makes it easy to experiment with the tool, and if we decide it's not suitable, we can simply stop the ETL instance and cease incurring charges."
"It is not necessarily a cheap solution. However, it's reasonable priced, especially with the smaller machines that we run it on."
"The solution's pricing is not based on the licensing cost but on the running hours when the Matillion instance is up and running."
"It is cost-effective. Based on our use case, it's efficient and cheap. It saves a lot of money and our upfront costs are less."
"The product must improve its pricing."
"Regarding pricing, I believe there could be room for improvement to align with user expectations."
"I can't give you a straightforward answer because sometimes it depends on the usage. If you're going to have fewer than 5 million messages, it is free of cost. If you're going to have more than 5 million messages, they're going to charge $100 per month"
"Price-wise, it is a good product since it is reasonably priced."
"On a scale of one to ten, where one is cheap, and ten is expensive, I rate the solution's pricing as four or five out of ten."
"The product's price seems to be competent in comparison to other products in the market."
"The solution is the priciest in the market which is an issue for some clients."
"Mule is not the cheapest integration platform out there, but it deserves the price we are paying."
"Licensing can be complex as is the case with most iPaaS/cloud offerings."
