Benjamin Mpolokoso - PeerSpot reviewer
A stable product that offers excellent ROI and reliable technical support
It is a good solution but quite complex, especially when integrating with other systems. Some simpler products like Sage are much easier to integrate with. I think it is because of the product’s proprietary database, MSSQL. Other databases are more open source. They use MySQL in the background, so it is easier to integrate with other products. Overall, I rate the solution an eight out of ten.
Marisol Caamaño - PeerSpot reviewer
Reliable product with straightforward setup process
Overall, Dynamics SL served us well for many years. However, organizations should consider more modern solutions, especially those that support transactional processing, to avoid the inefficiencies associated with batch processing. I would advise looking into more modern solutions that avoid batch processing. While it was reliable, its batch system is outdated compared to newer transactional systems. I rate it a nine out of ten.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The most valuable feature of Microsoft Dynamics AX is customization."
"In terms of features, GP offers a wide range of strong capabilities, particularly in the financial module."
"One of the valuable features of the solution is how easy it is to use."
"A valuable feature of Microsoft Dynamics AX is that it is stable."
"It is easy to use, and it has a great UI. It has very well-structured modules. In terms of setup and configuration, they're logically placed, which makes it easy for any user to pick up information and learn more about the system, rather than just be plain key users of that business operating system."
"The tool makes it easier to manage things."
"I am impressed with the tool's vendor collaboration. It is also easy to connect with third-party applications."
"Almost all of the features that we use are efficient. Live master planning successfully handles all of our company's requirements."
"It's pretty easy to set up."
"The solution has provided a good return on investment by ensuring our financial and operational information is accurate and timely."
"If I put myself in the customer's shoes, it's easier to use. Reporting would be a very valuable feature."

Cons

"At times there are issues related to reporting, sometimes with the integration between two or three modules, and sometimes to the logic itself."
"The on-premises and desktop versions are not user-friendly."
"This solution could be improved with more expert resources and an easier implementation process."
"Microsoft Dynamics AX could be improved by having more features available. We are going to 365 now, to use all the modules, because we found that there weren't many new things we were able to develop with AX. There were a lot of things that weren't available, so we are moving and integrating other things. The customization of upgrades should also be faster. We would also like to see more security features."
"The product needs better admin control. There is room for improvement in flexibility, reporting, and dashboards. Artificial intelligence should be incorporated. I have concerns regarding partners, specifically in the implementation and deployment of Microsoft Dynamics."
"Microsoft could provide more flexible hardware requirements that can scale with the volume of data being processed rather than providing only a minimum requirement."
"The product needs improvement in procurement planning. It also needs to include a production scheduling feature."
"The user interface could be better."
"The product's primary improvement area would be its batch processing system."
"An area of improvement could be around automation and predictability."
"The licensing of the solution should be adjusted. The policies aren't ideal. They should make it easier to understand. Right now, it's too confusing."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"I purchased the license once, and there is a license with a partner that I pay for annually."
"The platform's price offering is good."
"The tool is cheap."
"Go for cloud implementation, if cost is critical."
"The solution is expensive."
"It has a pay-as-you-go subscription."
"One client was looking at a $5M SAP proposal and we got AX in just under $2M, and they were very happy with it as they have several sister companies that face $500K SAP upgrades/maintenance seemingly annually."
"The product's license is expensive. My company is located in a region where we have to pay the most for the tool due to our currency and inflation scenario."
"If the value proposition is clear for the customer, they won't see it as an expensive solution. A solution becomes expensive when it doesn't do what it promises."
"The licensing costs were reasonable."
