The sales and distribution modules are robust, and reliable, and seldom encounter issues
In GP, there are certain features like financial reporting that aren't part of the core GP package. Users might need to install additional components for these features. For example, there's a reseller product called Management Reporter, but many users would prefer to have the reporting capabilities integrated within GP itself, rather than relying on external tools. The manufacturing module in GP is quite basic, and those who require more advanced manufacturing capabilities often turn to third-party modules or tools. Additionally, you might be aware that in 2028, GP is expected to reach its end of life. Microsoft has already ceased selling GP to new customers. It's essentially the same product, but this marks the final year for GP's availability.

Implementation simplifies ERP management with comprehensive data integration and visibility
A lot of people would say the pricing. SAP is seen as quite expensive even now. It doesn't work for smaller or medium optimizations. The licensing and pricing could be looked at. In Brownfield migration, the trade-off between greenfield and brownfield means you either keep it clean or match the business requirements. Sometimes, it's not possible to do both. While ValixAPI provides significant support in making those decisions and the SAP consultant is very useful, we are still dependent on past history and how it was originally set up. I wouldn't call that a real disadvantage, yet more accessible consulting would be beneficial. Incorporating all other cloud products, like APO or IPP, into the S/4 house might also help.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The most valuable features of Microsoft Dynamics AX are field services and the vendor collaboration portal. Both of the features are very good."
"I am impressed with the tool's vendor collaboration. It is also easy to connect with third-party applications."
"It is flexible and cost-effective."
"There's a moderate amount of scalability available."
"The installation is extremely simple, and I have had no problems with it."
"It is easy to use, and it has a great UI. It has very well-structured modules. In terms of setup and configuration, they're logically placed, which makes it easy for any user to pick up information and learn more about the system, rather than just be plain key users of that business operating system."
"One of the valuable features of the solution is how easy it is to use."
"The response time of the solution is very good."
"Only SAP payroll products can handle data management in IT and HR, processing millions of payrolls monthly for big organizations. S/4HANA payroll can manage massive volumes of data, process payroll in minutes, and provide outcomes. Other applications cannot process more than 4000-5000, but SAP S/4HANA payroll has been proven for 30-40 years."
"I have found the user interface very modern and it has simplified many user jobs, such as the embedded logistics. They have introduced central finance which has been a benefit."
"The insights given help us make strategic decisions."
"The scalability has been good."
"Our customers use the solution mainly for their business uses like HR operations."
"Offers an excellent UI"
"We use the solution for a retail customer. As an administrator, my activities involve system installation, troubleshooting, and performance management."
"I find everything I need in S4/HANA."

Cons

"There should be the capability for users to enhance the application by using a low-code or no-code product from the Microsoft family."
"Change management could be better."
"The product must be made accessible online."
"The implementation was completed within one month."
"The user interface could be better."
"The product takes some training to get up to speed on all functionality and modules in Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 ERP system."
"The solution in general just needs a few quality improvements."
"There is room for improvement in the licensing model and associated costs of this solution."
"In my opinion, there's room for improvement in SAP S/4HANA based on customer requirements. The solution already includes advanced technologies like AI functionalities, but improvements can be made in areas like UI and pricing. For example, making the UI more user-friendly or reducing the cost could enhance the overall experience for clients and customers. The goal is to provide everything customers need with just one click, ensuring convenience and efficiency in accessing information and performing tasks."
"So, there is room for improvement in pricing. HANA is not a simple product; it's quite complex by design."
"When we want to raise a ticket on the SAP portal, the process takes a longer time, and there are many selections that confuse the user."
"The two things that need to be improved are price and customization."
"This product would be improved by adding more reports."
"The solution is complex technically because both an old and a new path exist."
"The disadvantages of this product include the lack of integration with platforms like LinkedIn."
"It's an expensive solution"

Pricing and Cost Advice

"It has a pay-as-you-go subscription."
"Comparatively, Business Central appears to be more cost-effective. Microsoft offers Business Central at only $70 per user per month in the US. In contrast, GP requires an initial investment, including around $9,000 for the GP license for three users and additional expenses for hardware. Therefore, the initial investment for GP is quite substantial. On the other hand, cloud-based ERP products like Business Central do not entail the same upfront investment and operate on an ongoing, subscription-based model."
"The product's license is expensive. My company is located in a region where we have to pay the most for the tool due to our currency and inflation scenario."
"Licensing is stable, and overall, the users are satisfied with it."
"It is not the cheapest solution, but it is also not the most expensive one. It's in between and is cheaper than SAP but more expensive than other local vendors. It is worth the cost."
"It's too expensive for customers to take this on themselves. As partners, we will buy this on behalf of the customers and then charge this value for each project."
"The pricing is expensive."
"The tool is cheap."
"The pricing is a five out of ten, with ten being expensive and one being cheap."
"The solution often does not survive our shortlist round because it is very expensive when compared to other products."
"Licensing works on a subscription model for the cloud version and it's a one-time fee for the on-premises version."
"The solution's license cost is on the higher side."
"The implementation costs of SAP is substantial."
"The price of this product is an issue for some customers."
"We pay for an annual license."
"As for pricing, it depends on the business size and flow. If it's a medium-sized business, it might seem affordable, but for larger businesses with complex processes, it could be considered expensive."
