A good solution for large enterprises, but is expensive when compared to other solutions
Regarding the decision of increasing the number of users, it depends on the organization's choice, whether to opt for CapEx or OpEx. Both options involve expenses over the years. Building an in-house Exchange solution requires investing in hardware, storage, connectivity, and administrative resources. Office 365 shifts the budget solely to OpEx as a subscription service. Scalability is another factor. Starting a new company favors Office 365 due to cost efficiency. As the organization grows, the choice depends on available resources and technical expertise. An internal Exchange setup is feasible with skilled engineers, while Office 365 suits those lacking in-house resources.

The data retrieval process is seamless
The permission structure plays a big role in the solution's setup process. The deployment process involves setting up all connectors between the Veritas Enterprise Vault, emails, and file servers. At our company, we found the permissions created a complicated situation often during the setup of Veritas Enterprise Vault. The deployment of the solution overall took around a week for our organization.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Microsoft Exchange is stable."
"The search tools are good."
"It is a very stable tool...It is a very scalable tool."
"It's an excellent product from Microsoft. It provides more flexibility to the end-users. As it's connected with Teams, it also enables collaboration."
"The most valuable feature of Microsoft Exchange is the collaboration tools."
"It is user friendly."
"The availability group settings are better, so it has inherent scalability. In 2010, they added several sensible rules."
"The product works very well."
"Veritas Enterprise Vault is highly stable and has low-maintenance."
"The data retrieval process was seamless with Veritas Enterprise Vault"
"We use the solution to archive emails."
"The archive allows the customers to search any items as far back as five or ten years ago."
"The most valuable feature of Veritas Enterprise Vault is the on-premise recall from your email into Outlook."
"Compared to other third-party products, the solution's most valuable features are its cost and security."
"Organizations can streamline governance processes and improve compliance by utilizing automated classification to tag and categorize data."
"User behavior is very smooth."

Cons

"It's not always the finest solution in terms of integration with products that are not from Microsoft. It integrates very well with Microsoft products but not with third-party products."
"The solution could be more user-friendly."
"I would like to see the search capability of the Outlook client improved"
"The calendar integration in Exchange is not that great. The email features are okay, but it doesn't integrate well with the calendar and appointments, especially Zoom appointments. It integrates fine with Microsoft Teams, but Zoom is a challenge."
"There are issues when you add your domain to Microsoft Tenant, and you try to create that. Which is a problem for me."
"The setup is difficult so could be easier."
"After 2022, users of Microsoft Exchange have to migrate mailboxes to Microsoft Exchange Online, and what I'd like to improve is for Microsoft to publish more on-premise versions for customers using Microsoft Exchange. Having more security is another room for improvement in the solution, particularly for mailboxes that develop the Exchange Edge rule to protect internal mailboxes. What I'd like to see from Microsoft Exchange in the future is for Microsoft to still update the latest, existing version which is 2022. I'd like Microsoft to still push more cumulative updates for Microsoft Exchange 2022."
"Exchange can be a little finicky, sometimes, or flakey. Last week, for example, I had gone into my calendar to check on some briefings that I had established, and then went back into my inbox, and suddenly the view had changed. I had no idea what it was that I had done, and I couldn't figure out how to get that view back. I took a productivity hit as a result of that, trying to fix it, due to the fact that it just wasn't what I wanted. It wasn't what I was used to working with. Two different tech support people had to work with me in order to get the view back to what I wanted just so I could be productive."
"The stability could be improved."
"The integration needs to improve."
"One of the big disadvantages is that the product doesn't cover structured data"
"I cannot perform application backup, and I am not able to repair the license."
"The platform's price could be affordable for small businesses."
"Cost is high for Veritas Enterprise Vault."
"Veritas Enterprise Vault's cloud backup solution should include the journal archiving feature along with the standard licensing package."
"Dealing with personal information, such as documents that contain a personal number, personal ID or something like that should be improved. Sometimes it works poorly in that regard."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Microsoft's licensing structure is too complex, but its prices are affordable, though not cheap."
"Microsoft Exchange is an inexpensive application."
"I don't have enough information about the licensing costs of Microsoft Exchange, but I do know that you need two types of licenses to run it. You need the product key and the client access key to activate Microsoft Exchange. This means that apart from the standard Microsoft Exchange licensing fees, you have to pay additional costs."
"Compared to the other options in the market, the licensing costs attached to Microsoft Exchange seem reasonable."
"It would be nice if it used less resources to run on-premise."
"I rate Microsoft Exchange's pricing a six out of ten."
"Its price is very affordable, and basically, it is the standard of the industry. We have the Exchange 365 subscription, which includes the usage of Exchange Online. I don't know the specific cost, but it is the retail price of Microsoft 365 E3 licenses. Microsoft's licensing is not very easy to understand. Microsoft changes rules every other day, which makes it difficult for us to understand the licensing not only for Exchange but also for other products. It can sometimes be really complex to understand what you need to have in order to comply with Microsoft licensing."
"This solution is expensive."
"Veritas Enterprise Vault pricing is average, and I rate the solution a five out of ten for pricing."
"There is a license required for this solution and it is typically is paid annually."
"Enterprise Vault is a little bit expensive."
"Veritas Enterprise Vault is an expensive solution."
"The pricing is very high."
"The price for Enterprise Vault is around €100 per user."
"It's an affordable solution"
"On a scale from one to ten, where one is expensive and ten is cheap, I rate the solution's pricing a seven out of ten."
