A good solution for large enterprises, but is expensive when compared to other solutions
Regarding the decision of increasing the number of users, it depends on the organization's choice, whether to opt for CapEx or OpEx. Both options involve expenses over the years. Building an in-house Exchange solution requires investing in hardware, storage, connectivity, and administrative resources. Office 365 shifts the budget solely to OpEx as a subscription service. Scalability is another factor. Starting a new company favors Office 365 due to cost efficiency. As the organization grows, the choice depends on available resources and technical expertise. An internal Exchange setup is feasible with skilled engineers, while Office 365 suits those lacking in-house resources.

The data retrieval process is seamless
The permission structure plays a big role in the solution's setup process. The deployment process involves setting up all connectors between the Veritas Enterprise Vault, emails, and file servers. At our company, we found the permissions created a complicated situation often during the setup of Veritas Enterprise Vault. The deployment of the solution overall took around a week for our organization.

Quotes from Members

Pros

"The platform's most valuable feature is the mailbox roles."
"All features are useful; they meet the purpose of an email server."
"Microsoft Exchange is a powerful solution. It can easily integrate with Active Directory and other business applications. It does not require any training, it is flexible and simple to use. When comparing Microsoft Exchange to other solutions, such as Lotus Note, it is more straightforward for business."
"Microsoft Exchange is comparable to the Outlook client. Both are Microsoft products, and most people are familiar with Outlook. This is why the best feature of Microsoft Exchange is the ease of use. It is more compatible with the client software, especially for Microsoft Outlook. There are a lot of features available that are required for businesses users."
"Microsoft has a very good support team."
"The most used feature of Microsoft Exchange is the email capability, especially since it integrates with the calendar."
"The solution can scale well."
"Microsoft Exchange is a user-friendly product that is easy to manage and configure."
"The stability is excellent."
"The archive allows the customers to search any items as far back as five or ten years ago."
"Organizations can streamline governance processes and improve compliance by utilizing automated classification to tag and categorize data."
"Veritas Enterprise Vault is an archive solution for email and files."

Cons

"Deployment should become a bit easier, the process is a bit complicated. You have to have done it one or two times before you get it right. The first time you do it, it won't be perfect. There are a lot of complications compared to Gmail For Business, which is a bit easier when it comes to configuration."
"The product or service could be improved in terms of Microsoft Outlook client compatibility."
"Microsoft could make it easier to combine comments in the GUI. It isn't easy to do certain things in Exchange, primarily if the administrator isn't used to the command line, so I think the customer interface could be improved."
"The default storage capacity is too small."
"When we started using Exchange on the cloud, we had a lot of initial problems relating to our main database and we also experienced issues with the accidental deletion of inboxes, amongst other things. In fact, many of the files we had moved to the cloud had disappeared. There also seems to be a problem with the retention of information."
"One major area for improvement is the need for repeated authentication when running a meeting."
"It is costly, so it depends on how much you want to pay."
"The pricing could be better, and it could have an easier implementation."
"The deployment phase is very hard."
"Cost is high for Veritas Enterprise Vault."
"The integration needs to improve."
"The quality of support by Veritas has declined in the last year."
"Veritas Enterprise Vault's cloud backup solution should include the journal archiving feature along with the standard licensing package."
"One of the big disadvantages is that the product doesn't cover structured data"
"The product is a very complicated solution. It is not easy to upgrade and get alerts of issues. You have to check it all the time to see if there is an internal error."
"Veritas Enterprise Vault should improve its indexing and customization options."
