Good deduplication, easy to configure, and offers a free version
Nakivo B&R is running at Qnap NAS and is an optimal low cost solution an offers a free version for one year. There are reports for email and deduplication for saving storage space. It's easy to configure connections to ESXi and set backup jobs (or recoveries) with a schedule. There is an option to copy the backup to another ESXi host. Deduplication makes increasing backup jobs really fast and reduces the required storage. Qnap offers a lot of collaboration solutions for a small office and Nakivo minimally affects the system load. However, in a few models, TS-231P/TS-431X, you have to run Transporter as a VM at ESXi host - which is not simple to do.

Ensures backup management features while maintaining stability, quick deployment, excellent technical support and compatibility with various virtual machine environments

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Nakivo is an easy-to-use, robust and cost-effective backup solution. I highly recommend it."
"Backups are very easy to implement and schedule, the product is very useful, and the recovery procedure is very extensive and feature-rich."
"Nakivo Backup and Replication's web-based management interface enables intuitive, rapid, and seamless configuration and management of all backup and recovery functionality across the enterprise."
"With Nakivo, I have the peace of mind that all of my production environment is safely backed up and can be restored safely, easily, and quickly with a few clicks."
"The solution is stable; there is no need to retry any sort of jobs in daily operations."
"Nakivo has improved our organization largely due to the fact that it is an extremely robust backup system."
"The features that I have found most valuable are that it is a cheaper price and user-friendly."
"All in all, NAKIVO helped us save a lot of time."
"One of the most valuable features is the integration. Another good feature is the instant recovery."
"I think that the scalability is very good. We can't compare it."
"The technical support is excellent. It's one of the best I've met so far."
"Veeam ONE is a very good management product...The technical support is very good, and I think it's one of the best. The response time is very quick."
"It is a global major solution for quite a lot of people."
"No problems with stability."
"The pricing of the solution is fair."
"Veaam ONE is a very good product in virtualized environments."

Cons

"It would be helpful to be able to have a custom footprint so that only the required features are installed."
"It would be a good thing to have some use case and architecture examples online to understand integration in complex infrastructure."
"Using an independent bootable media to restore full physical machines would enable physical machines that may be serving as Nakivo Director or Transport machines to be reliably restored to service without undue delay, ensuring that an enterprise's local environment remains intact."
"I would like to have the option of creating a subfolder per job in the backup repository because we had an issue where some files were corrupted and we lost the backup of the majority of the VMs."
"We want the backup job to consume fewer resources, as the utilization is very high if we choose the best compression."
"Personally, I would like to have the ability to backup older legacy systems on the new versions as well."
"We are satisfied with Nakivo, but if anything could be improved, I think it would be more real-time as opposed to email support availability."
"I would like to see some additional models in the next release to make backups more functional."
"It would be preferable if they could introduce a complete Linux version instead of relying solely on Microsoft for management. There should be a unified integration of all their products. Currently, there are various products like cloud backup and others that exist separately. It would be better if they could create a single comprehensive platform or product, as opposed to having disparate products that lack proper communication between them."
"I face difficulties when trying to deploy Veeam ONE because my active directory restricts some particular rights."
"Occasionally, in the course of upgrading one's virtualization platform, the backup can be ruined."
"Veeam Backup & Replication should include a cloud solution."
"Veeam ONE should make available notifications through SMS."
"The support, reporting part and customization should all be improved."
"Veeam Backup Replication could improve by having better integration with the cloud. Additionally, they do not have direct integration to S3 or Azure storage for the backups of the VMs. This feature would be beneficial because we have to go through the scalable repository which I do not like."
"I am highly dissatisfied with their customer support approach."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The pricing, setup costs, and licensing are easy to understand, no matter how you want to implement it."
"It's really cheap, and our company saves a significant amount of money on IT backup solutions per year."
"Nakivo is cheaper per machine and per backup."
"The licensing model is very affordable compared to competitors, with a good quality-to-cost ratio, and the software is quite simple and fast to setup."
"As a free solution for a small environment, this is a great solution!"
"Talk to the sales department about all of the possibilities, as they will help you to find the best solution for your setup."
"It has a much higher bang for the buck than other products we evaluated."
"From the perspective of Indian users, the cost is a little bit high."
"Veeam ONE is cheaper when you compare it with one of its competitors in the ops space, VMware vRealize Operations. There's a separate department that deals with the licensing, but my company is using CSP licensing, which is the service provider licensing, so my company doesn't fall under the normal volume at the Veeam Universal licensing program. The cost is commit-based and depends on what your point commit is. The point commit works differently, and it's similar to your sales provider license. If you commit to using one thousand five hundred points, you get a certain price. If you commit to using the eight hundred points scheme, you get a certain price. As you grow the point scheme, you get a different price range, so it doesn't matter whether you're using Veeam One, Veeam Availability Suite, Veeam Backup and Replication, Orchestrate, or whatever the product is."
"Our licensing fees are paid yearly and the cost is about $12,000 Swiss Francs ($17,400 USD)."
"The changes in pricing have been an interesting aspect. It seems to have become pricier, resulting in a reduction in affordability. There are extra expenses involved, including hardware requirements and the procurement of operating system licenses, which must also be taken into account. I would rate the price seven out of ten."
"The price of Veeam Backup Replication is reasonable."
"If you have Veeam Backup and Replication with the essential license then this solution is free. If you were to purchase Veeam ONE by itself it is priced cheaper than competitors."
"The price of Veeam Backup & Replication is reasonable compared to IBM."
"Veeam Data Platform, it's pay-as-you-go. So, the more options you choose, the more consumption you have in monthly billing."
"The product is expensive for small businesses."

Nakivo is my favorite backup software. Below are the main benefits of Nakivo compared to Veeam 1. Low cost. 2. Backup storage with global deduplication (this is the main requirement of a backup solution. For Veeam, you need to pay for additional deduplication storage). 3. NAS appliance plugin (the backup solution can be fit on one NAS box storage. No need for any backup server). 4. The backup s...

For me, Nakivo has all Veeam features and also supports Oracle RMAN backup.  Nakivo has a very flexible deployment compared with Veeam (it supports the deployment using Windows and SQL only). It can be installed on NAS, VA, and many more. Most of the things have a reasonable price.
