A good product when looking to do a backup on a tape in a small environment
We have 200 users working with this solution. Our primary use case of Veritas Backup is to backup, at a fine level, our Windows-based, small SMB level clients The product is good in a small environment when looking to backup on a tape. The console of Veritas Backup Exec is complex when compared…

Pros

"The solution is very user-friendly."
"Storage gateway feature is very flexible."
"Veeam is highly scalable. In one scenario, we started with 2,000 users and scaled up to 24,000."
"It's not complex to replicate and back up the system."
"Veeam Is very useful for most environments and can scale up in most environments - such as Amazon or Azure."
"We have evaluated other solutions but Veeam is the best for virtualization."
"Very reliable and easy to use."
"The product’s configuration and settings are very easy."
"The product is good in a small environment when looking to a backup on a tape."
"The product's most valuable feature is scalability."
"It's quite stable, and so far, we have had no technical issues with Veritas Backup Exec."
"The backup solution comes in different versions to support different platforms."
"The most important feature is the variety of backup applications it supports, including ERP systems and most other programs, such as Microsoft."
"The solution is stable."
"The most valuable feature of Veritas Backup Exec is the ease of use."
"It is responding very well, and its performance is good. It has a lot of options. For backup, you can connect it to a cloud or a physical hard drive. They also provide an API for integration with different platforms and products. However, we have not integrated it with another product."

Cons

"It would be beneficial to have enhanced solutions for database backup, particularly for Oracle databases in the context of SAP systems."
"Its import and export processes for information and policies could be better."
"The user experience can be better, as it is one of the areas with shortcomings in the product."
"The solution is rather weak when it comes to database integration."
"The ability to do more backups should be addressed."
"The product is expensive."
"The DR component should be part of the comprehensive package, not separate."
"The web interface could be more visual."
"It doesn't support the AIX platform."
"Something within the software itself isn't quite right. There may be a bug or glitch. It will work fine for weeks and then all of a sudden it just tanks."
"Veritas Backup Exec should be more user-friendly. The costs should also be much lower and it should be easier to go through the disaster recovery process."
"I would like to improve their ability to back up the cloud environment. Additionally, it would be nice to have simpler UI."
"This solution does not support image-level backup of a physical server."
"Veritas Backup Exec's dashboard feature could be enhanced."
"They can improve the reporting component. The reports aren't user-friendly at all. You have to download them to Excel to get statistics."
"Firstly, the GUI for 2014 is mostly confusing, i.e., if you need to add any additional technical features, then it doesn't require a change to the GUI."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The price is pretty cheap for our market."
"Although our license includes support, we have only really used the support when we were using Veeam for Active Directory. The rest of the time, we find Veeam easy enough to use without paying extra support fees."
"The price of the solution could be lower."
"The price of this product is very good."
"It's the market price. It isn't expensive, nor is it cheap."
"Room for improvement is actually more in the way of licensing. The really good and useful features are in the Enterprise plus edition, and that one is really expensive."
"Our licensing cost is $200 a year."
"The solution's pricing is cheap."
"I think, at least for the price I've seen, it could be lower compared to other products."
"The pricing is reasonable."
"We are satisfied with the price of this solution."
"It is affordable, but I hope that the price will come down a lot because of other competitors. It is a good price for the customer, but sometimes, the competition provides a much lower price. There are two ways to license it. You can license it per instance or per terabytes of data that we are mocking up. It is enough because it is not so complex. It is good when you're working with customers."
"The solution costs $700 per agent and is expensive compared to other products that offer better stability."
"The pricing is good."
"The pricing can be improved."
"The product is inexpensive compared to enterprise software."
