Good backup retention but it is not a reliable platform and it doesn't giving any sort of alerts that things are not working
StorageCraft wasn't getting full backup coverage. It was backing up around 1 to 2% of the points. It was not a reliable platform and it wasn't giving any sort of alerts that things were not working. The majority of stuff wasn't backed up, so we really weren't happy with them. That's when we went on the look for a new solution.

Backup operations have become reliable and reporting now simplifies hybrid cloud protection
Veeam Data Platform has Veeam Enterprise Manager as well as Veeam ONE as valuable features, which allow us to generate various kinds of reports that are required for the customer. Instant VM Recovery is a good feature of the high-speed recovery features in Veeam Data Platform, and Continuous Data Protection (CDP) is also a good feature. Ransomware protection is a good feature added in Veeam Data Platform from version 12 onwards, and the ability to create immutable repositories is also a good feature in Veeam. The analytics part of Veeam Data Platform is a good solution because I have worked on various backup technologies such as EMC NetWorker and NetBackup. However, I have not used the analytical parts currently but will check it out. Streamlining processes as well as saving money are benefits that Veeam Data Platform provides for the end user, as it allows for application-aware backups and database backups without the need for various kinds of licenses that other backup software requires. Veeam offers socket-based licenses, instance-based licenses, and capacity-based licenses, which is a great feature.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The backup retention was pretty good, and being able to archive users who had been backed up is good functionality because even if they've been deactivated it'll keep the backups and keep them protected."
"Veeam Is very useful for most environments and can scale up in most environments - such as Amazon or Azure."
"Simple and stable."
"It is way easier to take backup with Veeam Backup & Replication than the regular ones."
"We are satisfied with the technical support."
"The initial setup is not complex or too complicated; it's very easy and quite straightforward, and a company shouldn't have any issues with the process."
"It really just works, we don't have backup issues anymore."
"Simplified management"
"I think that the scalability is very good. We can't compare it."

Cons

"StorageCraft wasn't getting full backup coverage. It was backing up around one to 2% of the points. It was not a reliable platform and it wasn't giving any sort of alerts that things were not working."
"The physical system support needs improvement."
"We have problems with IOPS calculations real-time, uncontrollable IOPS of storage leads to storage infrastructure errors."
"Right now, replication it does in every 15 minutes. However, if it could do continuous replication or even bring it down to 5 minutes, then it would be great."
"Moving backup repositories and merging backup chains is either difficult or not possible as far as I know in the current release of Veeam Backup and Replication."
"The replication functionality only works for VMware environments."
"I would like them to move back to host licensing."
"Veeam One has its ransomware monitoring, but it's based on static parameters."
"We would like to have the ability to perform more things on the web interface. The heavy client is still needed to perform advanced tasks."

"My understanding is that it is a fairly small price point."
