Originally we looked at Turbonomic as a replacement for our existing virtual management tool as it offered us a real-time view of our environment, which is something we never had before. But it became obvious to us that there was a lot more being offered in the product that we could leverage to ensure our VMware environment was running efficiently.

The VM rightsizing tools and the intelligent placing of workloads have helped us to not only streamline what we have but, in conjunction with the sizing tools, has allowed us to look at future scenarios and potentially reduce our spend on physical kit in the DC.

The old interface was not the clearest UI in some areas, and could be quite intimidating when first using the tool. Subsequent releases have had the option of an updated UI which is not only much cleaner in its look but is also much more intuitive in its operation.

We have been a customer for over two and a half years now.

None, deployment was extremely quick and simple, well within the time quoted on the documentation.

None, we have rarely rebooted or had to spend any time on the appliances or the tool. Apart from upgrades, it's been running constantly since the initial install.

We used another tool to give us insights into our VM environment but due to the way it gathered data it was always at least 24 hours out of date. Turbonomic gave us the ability to look at near real-time data coming directly from out VMware environment.

Initial setup was very straightforward with very simple steps to follow.

All implementation was done in-house with no initial input from Turbonomic.

The tool has demonstrated that considerable savings could be had by reducing the amount of physical hardware and, therefore, licenses that are needed.

We felt the pricing was very fair for the product. It is in no way prohibitive for larger deployments, unlike other similar product on the market.

We looked at numerous solutions including SCOM, Veeam, and custom solutions.

The ability to connect to many different environments along with the integration with partner systems make this an essential tool in our IS VM management strategy.

On a quarterly basis we take the VM right-sizing report and, based on the Turbonomic recommendation, we make the changes to resources. So far, no issues reported and it allows us to right-size our VM and use the resources properly. Along with that, the Projected Cluster report enables us to share the monthly report for capacity planning.

I know form v5.7 it supported RDM LUN, but it shows very few details. It would be great if Turbonomic allowed us to get the report for VM with RDM with its compatibility mode.

Like vROPS, which allows you to dig more into VM performance issues and provides the details to get to the root cause, if Turbonomic would do that that nothing would be better.

Turbonomics is doing great in enhancing their product.

Ease of navigation throughout the interface.  It is smooth and seamless with very little to no latency when moving between screens and objects.

As a small organization I am solely responsible for the server/storage environment. With running as lean as we do, this product has simplified the decision making process for maintaining and managing the environment.  Decisions can be made much faster as data is in front of us that is up to date and on demand.

The only areas that I believe could be improved are more built in reporting for monthly/yearly benchmarking from an executive standpoint.  For example, a report that can be used as a metric to show the overall stability of the environment from a weekly/monthly/yearly perspective such as utilization index to verify that we are using resources as efficiently as possible.

I have been using this solutions for around 9 months.

No, with the virtual appliance that can be deployed from an OVF template.  I think I was looking at the interface within a few minutes of deployment.  Just beware it does take some time to gather data that can be analyzed.

We haven't had any issues with stability.  It has thus far been very stable.

The customer service is fantastic.  I needed a custom report template built and it wasn't available on their GreenCircle support page, so they custom built a query and had it back to me within a few hours.

I evaluated a slew of solutions and Turbonomic (then VMTurbo) was heads and tails above the competition.

I really like the capacity dashboard, that allows us to plan our upcoming projects to ensure we have enough resources to support the project.

Our VMWare servers run a lot smoother with this product as it continues to look at resources and ensures our servers are on the best host at that point in time.

I think the web interface could be better, I know they are working on a new one so I'm looking forward to seeing the final product when its released.

The resource monitoring and usage reporting have helped keep the VMware clusters balanced and running smoothly. It also helps rightsizing over-provisioned virtual machines (VMs) for resource reclamation.

We are over 75% virtual, so the importance of our virtual environment stability and performance are vital. Turbonomic has been excellent in keeping us running smoothly.

Maybe a few more canned reports. In addition, the ability to create custom views to get to VMs that may require more babysitting for resource usage instead of having to drill down every time.
