What do I think about the stability of the solution?
It's stable.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
It's scalable. We have more than 100,000 people using this solution.
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
We used multiple servers, including Linux and Windows Server.
How was the initial setup?
The initial setup is easy. It took me about 30 to 40 minutes to set up and deploy this solution.
What about the implementation team?
Sometimes we do it by ourselves or else we used to go to some technicians.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
We pay for the license, and it's fine.
What other advice do I have?
I would recommend Windows 10 to new users.
On a scale from one to ten, I would give Windows 10 a ten.

Information Technology Supervisor at a renewables & environment company with 501-1,000 employees
A huge step up from previous versions
Pros and Cons
- "It's very straightforward. There is virtually no learning curve at all."
- "The updates could be improved. Sometimes when we update, there are instances where it fails or crashes."
What is our primary use case?
It's all right. It does the job. We use it for emails and troubleshooting widgets — stuff like that. Within our organization, there are roughly 100 employees using this solution.
What is most valuable?
Windows 10 is easy to use. It's not like Windows 8 where it had that "start menu" that took up the entire screen. I didn't like that one.
It's very straightforward. There is virtually no learning curve at all.
What needs improvement?
The updates could be improved. Sometimes when we update, there are instances where it fails or crashes. I wish they would sort that out. When the update is downloaded, maybe we could have a method of checking that the downloaded update from Windows is alright so it doesn't damage our computers before restarting it.
For me, that's the most troubling part — crashing after we've updated it. I've experienced that many times. There are instances where it has actually corrupted the Windows OS, then we have to reformat it.
Every time I have to reformat and install Windows, I have to remove so many pre-installed games and other unnecessary junk. I don't like that. It's just a bother having to remove them again and again and again.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been using this solution since it first hit the market.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
Stability-wise, Windows 10 is great.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
It's very easy to expand Windows 10.
How are customer service and technical support?
I have to contact technical support from time to time. They're efficient, I always get what I need from them.
How was the initial setup?
The initial setup is simple. It's just like any other setup of Windows.
What about the implementation team?
Typically, I set it up myself. My team also knows how to deploy it. Installation takes roughly 30 to 45 minutes.
Sometimes we have to maintain it. Sometimes it slows down and we have to defragment it. Often, it's actually the computer itself that's slow simply because it's dirty; so we have to open up the computer and clean it. We handle all maintenance on our own, including cleaning the computers if they're dirty.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
For Filipino standards, it's quite expensive. We pay per license. So far, there have been no hidden costs.
What other advice do I have?
Windows 10 is a big step up from Windows 7. Windows 8 was not that great. Overall, Windows 10 is a lot better than previous versions.
You'll have to update as soon as Windows 7 is no longer supported. If you stick with Windows 7, there are going to be security risks as it's not supported and updated by Windows. That's a big deal if you want security, etc.
I would absolutely recommend Windows 10 to others. Overall, on a scale from one to ten, I would give this solution a rating of nine.
Which deployment model are you using for this solution?
On-premises

IT Solutions Architect at nds Netzwerksysteme GmbH
Reliable and well-known, but licensing could be improved
Pros and Cons
- "The usability is satisfactory."
- "Windows explorer does not support two windows systems."
What is our primary use case?
While we use this solution, we also sell it.
We sell Windows, and we install it for our customers.
How has it helped my organization?
I don´t think that Windows 10 has improved our organization. In fact, Microsoft has reached a standard in nearly all branches to be the standard OS for the most common things. So nearly in every branch we sell PCs or sell maintenance we have to do it with Microsoft Software, especially with Microsoft OS.
What is most valuable?
It is well-known. I use it because everyone is using it.
The usability is satisfactory.
What needs improvement?
Windows explorer does not support two Windows systems. For example, in Mac OS, you can open tabs such as your windows browsers, and you can switch between devices or file systems. This can't be done in Windows Explorer. You have to open two separate windows and you can only do this when your monitor is large enough, or if you have more than one monitor.
The licensing should be more flexible.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been using Windows 10 since it was released.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
Windows 10 is a stable product.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
Windows 10 is now nearly also over eight years old. One of the main topics that help this OS to be so popular is, that most software that is written on this planet is working with, that nearly every device that has a USB connection could be recognized by your computer. Windows 10 is stable and has good scalability.
How are customer service and support?
We have not reached out to technical support. If Windows has a problem, we can usually fix it ourselves. We also rely on Google for assistance.
How would you rate customer service and support?
Negative
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
In private, I use Mac OS, which I prefer to Windows 10.
I have used several operating systems, as well as Outlook, Microsoft Office, and Microsoft Planner.
How was the initial setup?
I do not install this solution, my technical colleagues install it.
What about the implementation team?
We implemented the solution in-house.
What was our ROI?
As I mentioned above, Microsoft doesn´t give resellers the opportunity to gain real money with the product itself. Microsoft wants the partners to build themselves some solutions around their ecosystem. But Microsoft did not understand, that most resellers are not inevitably software programmers or designers. Most of the resellers are solution providers in a maybe "older" category of service.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
The licensing fees could be more flexible.
Some of the issues we're having are when your company wants a license or when we don't know if that license can be merged. It is extremely difficult for Microsoft as a company because Microsoft is based in the United States and we live in Germany. We also have other options available here. In this regard, Microsoft is very rigid and unforgiving.
Which other solutions did I evaluate?
On the OS side, you have no choice. You are heavily connected to the facto standard from Microsoft. Also in the matter of email client systems, if you use an exchange, you can't use other email client systems with the same comfort. The same when it comes to office programs.
What other advice do I have?
I would rate Windows 10 a seven out of ten.
Which deployment model are you using for this solution?
On-premises

Pros and Cons
- "The initial setup is very straightforward."
- "We'd always be happier if the enterprise version was a little bit lower in price."
What is our primary use case?
We use it for everything. We just don't use any other version at the moment. For the last four, five years, we are just using this one version, Windows 10.
What is most valuable?
The performance of the solution is good. We have found the product to be stable.
The interface is also good and it is very easy to use.
The initial setup is very straightforward.

We'd always be happier if the enterprise version was a little bit lower in price.
For how long have I used the solution?
I've used the solution for four or five years now.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
The solution is stable. There are no bugs or glitches. It doesn't crash or freeze. It's reliable and we have found the performance to be very good overall.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
We have close to 200 people using the solution at this time.
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
For the last few years, we haven't used anything but Windows. We upgraded from Windows 7, which is what we used previously.
How was the initial setup?
The initial setup is pretty straightforward. It's not overly difficult or complex. A user shouldn't struggle to set it up.
In terms of deployment, you do need more people and more time if you have to do it in multiple geographical locations. In our case, we use around 10, and they cover our locations very well.
In terms of maintenance, just to look after the OS and all those things, we have a team of five.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
While we would always prefer a lower cost for licensing the product, for the kind of quality the software system is providing, I cannot complain. You get pretty good value.
What other advice do I have?
I'd rate the solution at a nine out of ten. We've been pretty happy with its capabilities.
I would recommend the solution to other users and organizations.
