My experience with Akamai in improving website security has been good. They are well-regarded for their technology, especially in their main area of expertise. However, expanding into other areas is a bit tough because people mainly know them for what they are already famous for. We're working on showing that they are effective in other technologies too. Akamai's cloud security solutions have positively impacted our organization. While the market perception might not fully reflect their effectiveness, their products are highly regarded. This perception challenge may stem from Akamai's historical approach and the market's existing knowledge about the company. Akamai is stable, reliable, and user-friendly, typically delivering optimal performance. However, smaller companies might struggle to grasp the full value, particularly in complex security aspects like micro-segmentation. For those considering using Akamai, my advice is to engage with others who have experience with the platform. While Akamai is a well-known brand, it is important to recognize that its expertise lies in complex security areas more suited for enterprise-level companies. For smaller businesses entering this market, it is essential to establish Akamai as a trusted name through effective communication and understanding of their specific needs. The value and benefits of working with Akamai lie in their ability to provide real solutions to the problems they address. They are a strong company with robust products, capable of resolving the specific needs their customers face. Overall, I would rate Akamai as an eight out of ten.
Overall, I would rate the solution a nine out of ten for enterprise level. But when it comes to small and medium businesses, it is a five out of ten. It is not a solution for SMBs. It's actually because of the three parts. The first point is that migration and customization are actually hard components. When you don't have a lot of room for expenditure on those components, Akamai needs a dedicated team with experience in Security Data and a lot of skillsets. That's why it's hard for people to jump onto it. From the resource component, it's very costly, and Akamai's charges are also high. So, any organization with a high-tech budget can definitely afford it, but companies with 10-15% of their revenue as a technical budget probably won't be able to. That's where they have a lot of room for improvement if they want to onboard those early users.
The solution's maintenance part is something that only one person can manage. I think for all the web-based applications, we can switch to Akamai. I recommend the solution to those who plan to use it. I rate the overall product a nine out of ten.

My company does not have to get involved in the maintenance of the product since it is a cloud-based solution. Akamai is a highly reliable platform. It is a very good solution offering unique features to users. The scaling capabilities of Akamai platform are its best feature that nobody in the market can match or offer. I rate the overall solution a ten out of ten.
Fastly is just beating Akamai on computing at the moment. It's a very fast-evolving space. They are all trying to release new functionalities. In some respect, Akamai is better than CloudFront. It's a big decision to decide which CDN to work with. If someone plans to use the product, they must engage Akamai's teams and get a good idea of what these platforms are like. For enterprises, Akamai will clearly tell them what they are dealing with. Akamai would want to have quite a few conversations with the individual teams to get a feel for the functionality they can give. Overall, I rate the solution a seven out of ten.

For companies who wish to implement Akamai I would advise doing this through a partner like us, we have the expertise and knowledge of different solutions and setup's, and have compared other similar solutions. Some solutions could use different products like CloudFlare, so a client should look for an independent integrator instead of going direct with a vendor.

I rate Akamai eight out of 10. At end of the day there, I defer to Gartner's Magic Quadrant. They're one of the premium leaders on the OTT side, and we are a media organization. They're right on top of the Gartner report, so that's a good product.

It takes time to set up this solution to work. I would not recommend it for an on premises environment or if a client has a network of their own. In this instance I would recommend they build their own CDN instead of using a cloud CDN. This solution's suitability depends on a clients requirements. I would rate it an eight out of ten.
Akamai is a powerful solution that aims to enhance the performance and reliability of websites and applications. With features like excellent performance, robust security measures, and efficient content delivery, it optimizes user experience. It also offers bandwidth optimization, caching, online asset security, and protection against DDoS attacks. Users value its wide network coverage and reliable customer support.
I recommend the product to other users. I'd rate the solution eight out of ten.
