I work at a big organization, and we pay for Platform Plus - the more expensive version of Salesforce Platform. We were using Platform Starter before, however, it became inefficient for our growing needs, so we upgraded to the pricier version. Now we have more features and can manage more objects, which is very much appreciated since we also create more applications than before. However, compared to other solutions in this niche, yes, it may be a bit more expensive. We are not likely to switch to a competitor since we are so used to it by now, but it would be great if they had discounts for bigger companies with more users.
My company started using Salesforce Platform first through the free trial and now we are paying for the edition called Platform Starter. This is the cheaper option which offers fewer monthly custom objects for access and requires additional fees if you want to use certain features. We find it to be fairly priced and it works fine for us, since we manage a lower number of applications per month and do not use all the features. If our company continues to grow and expands the projects we are working on, then we will consider upgrading to the more expensive edition. For now, we are content with what we are paying for.
