Our primary use case for Apollo servers are as JBODs for Veeam. They form a great basis for a high density disk environment and as a landing pad for backups. There are Nutanix Apollo servers as well, which enable us to do the 4 nodes in 2U configurations or…

Whether to go 3 Tier (aka SAN) or HCI boils down to asking yourself what matters the most to you - Customization and tuning (SAN) - Simplicity and ease of management (HCI) - Single number to call support (HCI) - Opex vs Capex - Pay-as-you-grow (HCI)/scalability - Budget…

Answered a question: Cloud vs HCI: Pros and Cons
HCI is on-prem, so it's simpler and easier to manage and integrate with applications and your network. Something like a Nutanix can give you a lot of functionality of the cloud without having to deal with the massive headache that is designing your network and applications…

The differences typically fall under the hood or are more soft differences. In general, servers are commoditized and in most environments, HPE and Dell servers are mostly the same. HPE has done a lot more with developing the Silicon Root of Trust and are considered more…

It depends on what you actually need to do. Apollo servers are designed for significantly more disk density. If these are hypervisor hosts, the DL360s will generally be more useful. If these are standalone servers running single applications that require a lot of storage…

Does VMware support segment routing? If so, HCI supports it. This isn't a storage issue, it's a VM/network issue so support will be purely upon the hypervisor. If you need to know if AHV or Hyper-V support it, I sadly don't have any resources.

It doesn't matter that it can operate over multiple connections. Planned downtime, patching, upgrading/etc all lead to possible split brain situations, as well as any unplanned downtime or hardware issues with one of the servers. It is *very* clear that Starwind prefers…

To be clear on all of that, the answer is "no, we cannot prevent split brain without a witness". Which is completely fine but in a production, business environment, that condition isn't okay. Does a witness appliance exist? Can I install an arbitrator or failover manager…

The aspect that is most important depends entirely upon the business objectives and needs of the client. Some need scalability, some need a specific application compatibility, some need specific hypervisors, some need to focus on DR/backup capability. It's not a great…

You mentioned that it doesn't require a witness? This doesn't seem accurate to me. If the heartbeat connection is severed, both nodes will believe they are the master and will have no way to validate which is actually in charge. You cannot have an HCI solution with only…
