We use this product to backup the Office 365 tenant. This includes SharePoint, OneDrive, Exchange, Teams, etc.
Owner at a tech services company with 1-10 employees
User-friendly, knowledgeable technical support, and the email backup features work well
Pros and Cons
- "The most valuable features are the email backup and the SharePoint backup."
- "It is not a traditional restore process and it is somewhat limited in what we can do."
What is our primary use case?
What is most valuable?
The most valuable features are the email backup and the SharePoint backup.
We can restore data that is based on a search, which normally satisfies our requirements.
The interface is pretty user-friendly and if you get stuck, the technical support is really well-versed on the product.
What needs improvement?
It is not a traditional restore process and it is somewhat limited in what we can do. We need to know specifically what data we need to restore, or a timestamp. If someone comes up to us and asks for the last six months of somebody's email then we can't do that.
With respect to the reports, I would like to enhance the reports on what was backed up and added. To have it show you the amount of growth in the ecosystem, of the sectors of Exchange, SharePoint, and OneDrive would be useful.
For how long have I used the solution?
We have been using AvePoint Cloud Backup for just more than a year and a half. We are part of the MSP program.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
There are five in our organization who are using this solution.
How are customer service and support?
Technical support is excellent.
How was the initial setup?
The initial setup is somewhat straightforward, although I don't like how the licensing works. You can't buy direct from AvePoint and then the licensing gets weird.
It is really quick to deploy and can be completed in a couple of hours.
What about the implementation team?
The deployment was all done in-house.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
This product costs more upfront but in the end, it's cheaper than the competitors once you back everything up.
I don't like how the licensing works because you purchase the license from a third-party and then you get the product.
I am not sure, but I believe that the cost is $7 USD per user.
Which other solutions did I evaluate?
We evaluated other solutions before choosing this solution.
What other advice do I have?
Overall, this is a good product and I can recommend it to others.
I would rate this solution a nine out of ten.
Which deployment model are you using for this solution?
Public Cloud

Security Administrator at a tech services company with 11-50 employees
A scalable solution that offers platform backup and supports more services than other tools in the market
Pros and Cons
- "It is the only product in the market that offers platform backup."
- "The restoration could be faster."
What is our primary use case?
We use the solution to restore messages and mailboxes.
What is most valuable?
It is the only product in the market that offers platform backup.
What needs improvement?
The performance could be better. It takes a couple of hours to back up a whole environment. The restoration could be faster. I rate the performance a six out of ten.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been using the solution for two and a half years.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
I rate the tool’s scalability an eight out of ten. It is a SaaS model. We have 3500 users. We need two administrators. We will continue using the solution in the future.
How are customer service and support?
The technical support is okay. The support must work on its speed of response and overall competence.
How would you rate customer service and support?
Positive
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
In my previous company, we used CodeTwo Backup. AvePoint Cloud Backup is better. It supports more services. It also supports public folders. Since it is SaaS-based, we do not have to maintain an on-prem server.
What other advice do I have?
We use AvePoint MyHub. We have AvePoint Cloud Records for records management. We also use the services of AvePoint Cloud Governance and the self-service portal for end users. Most of the services are okay. Overall, I rate the product an eight out of ten.

Sales Manager at a tech vendor with 10,001+ employees
Self-service integration enhances data protection and control over automated backups, offering robust restoration quality
Pros and Cons
- "I rate the overall solution a 9 out of 10."
- "AvePoint Cloud Backup's pricing could be lower and more flexible. Particularly, when dealing with smaller customers or more minor businesses, obtaining competitive pricing for bundles rather than on a one-by-one basis remains challenging."
What is our primary use case?
The primary use case for AvePoint Cloud Backup involves my customers migrating their solutions from on-premises Office solutions like Exchange, OneDrive, and Teams. They require a good backup solution for their data.
What is most valuable?
AvePoint Cloud Backup has proven to be beneficial with its self-service part and integration with Teams. Its good quality restoration solution is also noted positively. While it is the most expensive option, I deem it the best in the market and it has good control over automated backup schedules.
What needs improvement?
AvePoint Cloud Backup's pricing could be lower and more flexible. Particularly, when dealing with smaller customers or more minor businesses, obtaining competitive pricing for bundles rather than on a one-by-one basis remains challenging.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been working with AvePoint Cloud Backup for four to five years.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
AvePoint Cloud Backup is considered a good and stable solution, and I receive favorable feedback.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
Scaling from a small number of endpoints to thousands is not difficult for me. However, there are challenging commercial discussions I have concerning accommodating a customer base with diverse sizes.
How was the initial setup?
While the specific details of the initial setup are lacking, the initial deployment involved me using more hours than calculated but this issue is resolved with expert technicians.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
When I deal with enterprises, good pricing is achieved. However, pricing becomes less favorable for smaller companies. Offering a package plan for multiple small clients would be beneficial.
Which other solutions did I evaluate?
Offering both AvePoint and Veeam backup solutions is necessary for me to cover varying market demands and spending capacities.
What other advice do I have?
The product is highly recommended for my enterprise customers due to its quality. The score for the product is between eight and ten, based on satisfaction levels. My clients are satisfied, but AvePoint Cloud Backup is costlier for smaller or medium-sized enterprises. Commercial discussions can be challenging on that front. I rate the overall solution a 9 out of 10.
Which deployment model are you using for this solution?
Hybrid Cloud
If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use?
