AWS Secrets Manager is the most basic and stable secret manager. I recommend the solution to others.

What is our primary use case?
It is primarily being used by our application for most of its application secrets.
What is most valuable?
All our workloads are running on AWS, so integration with our workload is much easier on AWS Secrets Manager than going with another solution such as Thycotic.
The API interface provided by AWS Secrets Manager is much easier. AWS provides you a good set of APIs that you can interact with using Python, Java, etc. Access control is also completely possible on AWS.
It is an intuitive product. It is working well for our use case. We haven't seen any scenario where we are not able to use it.
What needs improvement?
If you don't have enterprise support, then you will not be able to get through to them to get the help. It is not only applicable to AWS Secrets Manager. It is also applicable to any service on AWS.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
I haven't heard of anything from my operations team with regards to any errors or any issues detected on AWS Secrets Manager. The access has been smooth. We have a lot of API integrations with AWS Secrets Manager. We haven't heard of any specific errors.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
It is an AWS-managed service. All AWS services that are managed by AWS come with their own scalability options. They are scalable by default. We have never faced any scalability issues. That could be because the number of requests that we are sending to AWS Secrets Manager may not have actually reached the max limit.
We have five or six applications that are integrated with it within six months.
How are customer service and technical support?
We have an enterprise account with AWS. They are good not only with AWS Secrets Manager but also with other products. We do get good support because we have an enterprise account. If you do not have an enterprise account, they do not provide you the support that you need. They push you to come to the enterprise account.
How was the initial setup?
The setup is straightforward on AWS Secrets Manager. It is a managed service. They manage it, and we don't deploy it anywhere. It is not the kind of solution that we deploy. We just provision it and use it.
What other advice do I have?
If your workloads are running on AWS and you want a quick and easy integration with a solution to manage your secrets, AWS Secrets Manager can do the job. If you're not hosting your application on AWS or you're trying to do something on-prem, AWS will still be able to solve most of your issues, depending on the use case. It certainly cannot act as a PAM solution.
I would rate AWS Secrets Manager a 10 out of 10. Everything is good, and I have not had any issues with it. It is a part of the overall workload. It is just a piece of interface for us to save the secrets.

We have been using AWS Secrets Manager for one year.

It is a stable product.

We have 10 AWS Secrets Manager users in our organization. It is a scalable platform. We plan to increase the usage in the next two to three years.
How are customer service and support?
The technical support team is professional. It does a thorough study of infrastructure to investigate the issues.
How was the initial setup?
The initial setup process is easy. The deployment time depends on the environment and its cost. It takes ten days to complete and requires one DevOps engineer to execute the process. We take help from Terraform to implement it.
What about the implementation team?
We implement the product in-house using documentation.

We purchase a monthly license for the product.

HashiCorp Vault is more advanced than AWS.

They should build a hybrid infrastructure and include more Amazon services. It is easy to use, scalable, and provides security. I recommend it to other companies.

What is our primary use case?
Using this product, we allow our users to store certain secrets. It will store them and allow users to access them when they want.
How has it helped my organization?
At this point, our needs are pretty limited and we don't use the product very heavily. It has been okay for our very specific purpose.
What is most valuable?
The most valuable feature is the ability to store key-value pairs.
The API is fine and works well.
What needs improvement?
We occasionally have problems with rate limits, although that is a problem more generally with AWS.
For how long have I used the solution?
We have been using AWS Secrets Manager for the past few months.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
Specific to AWS Secrets Manager, we do not have any issues with stability. However, sometimes we hit problems with things like rate limits.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
As our platform is new and we are still growing, we haven't yet tested scalability. We have not had a heavy load on the system so it's difficult to comment on how well it scales.
We have multiple deployments in different accounts, where each one is a different instance. Each instance could contain between 30 and 50 users.
I expect that as more people start using our platform, our need for this product will increase. However, that's probably between six months and one year from now.
How are customer service and technical support?
We have reached out to Amazon for support in the past, although not specifically for this product. In general, we are quite satisfied with their support.
How was the initial setup?
The initial setup was okay and it doesn't take long.
What about the implementation team?
Limited resources are required for deployment and maintenance.
Which other solutions did I evaluate?
We did not evaluate other options for this particular requirement because most of our work is one AWS, so it was a natural choice.
What other advice do I have?
We do not make much use of the interface. Rather, we use the programmatic interface.
In summary, this is a good product and well suits our needs. There are no missing options that are blocking our use case as of now.
I would rate this solution a nine out of ten.

I have been working with AWS Secrets Manager for about two and a half years.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
This is a stable product.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
I have not tested the scalability. I have about forty people on my team who are administrators and developers.
How are customer service and technical support?
We have a dedicated TAM in case we have any queries and we are in touch with them on a weekly basis. We work with AWS very closely and there are no issues in terms of support.
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
We did not use another similar solution prior to this one.
How was the initial setup?
There was nothing complex about the installation.
What about the implementation team?
The vendor assisted us with the installation. The setup was completed within a day.
What other advice do I have?
I have been using AWS for the past 10 years and am quite comfortable working in that environment. The Secrets Manager is just one of the AWS products that I use regularly.
Overall, this is a good product, we are satisfied with the support, and I recommend it.
