High performance and flexible solution for companies with large amounts of data
My primary use of this solution is in the banking sector to process financial movements and generate reports. I also use it in the risk area of banking to detect thefts and risky behaviors Ab Initio reaches the highest performance and is very flexible in processing huge amounts of data.  An…

Performs real-time replication without data loss, but we cannot do much automation
The setup with the classic GoldenGate architecture was easy. Oracle has now moved to Microservices Architecture. It is a real pain. There are a lot of new things we have to learn. I rate the ease of setup of the classic architecture a seven out of ten. For Microservices, I rate the ease of setup a three out of ten. The deployment takes a couple of hours. We need one system administrator to deploy the tool. We need to maintain the tool. We are a team of four people. We need at least three people for maintenance. The time taken for maintenance depends on how big the environment is. We spend a lot of time on maintenance because our environment is big.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Co>Operating System's most valuable feature is its ability to process bulk data effectively."
"Ab Initio reaches the highest performance and is very flexible in processing huge amounts of data."
"The most valuable features of Oracle GoldenGate are the schema application and performance."
"The platform's most helpful features are its speed and its guarantee of data replication from one database to another."
"One feature that stands out for me is the data center capability."
"We can replicate data across different data centers and different technologies."
"This solution provides us with real-time replication and it does not affect the performance of other operations, which is very important to us."
"The most valuable feature is data replication capability."
"The product is reliable for data integrity."
"This is a powerful solution provided by one of the most respected companies in the computer industry."

Cons

"An awesome improvement would be big data solutions, for example, implementing some kind of business intelligence or neural networks for artificial intelligence."
"Co>Operating System would be improved with more integrations for less well-known technologies."
"We struggle with memory. It's limited. However, it may be because of our unique business case and how we use it that it's limiting for us."
"It would be better for Oracle Golden Gate Studio GUI to include other licensed products (i.e. Veridata or others)."
"IBM CDC has one central control while Oracle GoldenGate has two controls. In IBM CDC we can do all things in frontend. The solution needs to incorporate a feature where we can connect it to a standby database."
"The solution needs to improve its latency, monitoring and support."
"Technical support for Oracle products needs to be more efficient (at least locally in Egypt)."
"Troubleshooting issues is not always the easiest. It should be easier to troubleshoot. Their support can also be improved. They don't read your problem statement and waste a lot of time. GoldenGate for big data is actually a separate license. It is sort of a separate product, but it might fall underneath your GoldenGate category. If we're talking about big data, its interaction with big data sources is poorly documented."
"Additional performance metrics should be added and visible in a dashboard, displayed in a detailed manner."
"It would be great if Oracle added some enhanced features or more functionalities to Oracle GoldenGate."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Co>Operating System's pricing is on the expensive end since it tends to be used by big enterprises."
"The tool needs to improve its pricing."
"The one feature that I think Oracle could perhaps consider is, at the moment, the Veridata option is an extra cost. Golden Gate is an expensive product. You pay a lot for the best. But not including the Veridata license to prove that everything is working correctly... The big improvement for me would be to have that license built in. That would take it to the next level. That would make it a much better product. You may want to look at buying term licenses if you've just got a single migration to do. In that situation, you might want a term license for perhaps a year to save a lot of money, rather than buying a perpetual license."
"The price of this solution is good."
"Oracle GoldenGate's license can be expensive compared to other solutions like Qlik Replicate or SAP Replicate."
"We do like the price of this solution."
"Its price can be better. It is a bit crazy, and its licensing is very difficult to understand. I would rate it one out of five in terms of pricing. There don't seem to be any additional costs."
"Oracle GoldenGate's cost is high."
"We have purchased corporate licensing to use Oracle GoldenGate."
