We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"This product has unique capabilities that lead the product category in test data management, cloning and recovery.""Very user-friendly and the QSA is very good.""Actifio was very stable. Whenever they identified bugs, they would promptly provide us with patches.""They will assist me in achieving whatever budget issue the client may be having.""The solution helps reduce costs.""Very user-friendly and the QSA is very good."

"This product is flexible enough to allow for backing up data from physical machines, as well as from your cloud environment.""Best feature is its three-tier backup.""The solution offers a lot of really great features that organizations can utilize and take advantage of.""NetBackup is highly stable. We have more than 1,800 policies that run every day.""I think this is the best backup solution that we have. It is very good for the infrastructure.""The feature that is most useful for us is that it backs up every application that we own.""Unauthorized people cannot log in and execute commands.""Specific features that I could not do without are SLPs for replication and duplication control and AIR which makes DR easy."

Cons
"Lacks the option to price backup costs within the solution itself.""The solution doesn't support AIX software or in-cloud, and we have a lot of servers running on AIX and Oracle.""While the product does support various databases, the company needs to make more of an effort to support N-minus-one compatibility.""Google has stopped supporting the on-premise version of the tool.""The initial setup is complex.""Areas that need improvement would be the support for recovery in the physical environment."

More Actifio Cons →

"The biggest additional features needed are more cloud capabilities and security from ransomware.""The interface should be improved.""The product is not able to keep up with other competitors in the market.""What needs to be improved in Veritas NetBackup is its interface, e.g. they should make it more user friendly. Scalability for this product could still be improved, particularly its hardware appliance scalability.""Within their product lineup, they need to consolidate down to one product. Veritas doesn't have one product that does everything. So, Veritas can do everything, but you basically need to run two products. I would like them to combine all the capabilities into one release.""The restore tool is not friendly to newcomers.""Veritas NetBackup is an expensive solution, and its pricing could be improved.""The pricing could be improved, and the interface could be more intuitive."

    Reviews from Real Users

Mahdi B., Solution Architect and IT Consultant at Merdasco - Rayan Merdas Data Processing, says, “Veritas integrates well with the cloud, all databases, all operating systems, all hardware, and all software. Veritas also has solid malware and ransomware protection features. From time to time, we face a new kind of attack, and Veritas has always proven to be the best protection solution for some of my customers. Our customers who have faced ransomware attacks were able to recover their data in less than one day without any stress. Veritas is ransomware resilient and because of its implementation, it is not dependent on the operating system to work. Most of the functions of the Veritas software are isolated from the operating system and it's not dependent on the operating systems involved. This is very important. When some of our operating systems are infected by a virus, Veritas still works perfectly and protects our data. This feature is very well implemented in Veritas NetBackup.”

A PeerSpot user who is a General Manager at a comms service provider relates, “Veritas enterprise has many agents who perform the backup, whether it is a consistent backup or recorded backup. The solution has everything from the snapshot to the multiple database agents.”

Mir-Ali, Infrastructure Manager - Oracle SCM at a financial services firm, shares, “It covers all kinds of different architectures. Plus, it's very user-friendly and it is very reliable. Reliability is the most important thing because once the backup is done, if it is successful, then we're sure that it was successful and we will be able to restore it.”
