Provides all the frameworks and makes it easy to create environments for multiple projects
The best thing is that it provides all the frameworks and makes it easy to create environments for multiple projects using Anaconda. It is easy for a beginner to learn to use Anaconda. Comparatively, it is easier than using virtual environments or other environments because of the Conda environment. However, there are many things in Anaconda that people need to be aware of, so it can be challenging.

Has a drag-and-drop interface and AI capabilities
It's difficult to pinpoint one single feature because KNIME has so many. For starters, it's very easy to learn. You can get started with just a one-hour video. The drag-and-drop interface makes it user-friendly. For example, if you want to read an Excel file, drag the "read Excel file" node from the repository, configure it by specifying the file location, and run it. This gives you a table with all your data. Next, you can clean the data by handling missing values, selecting specific columns you want to analyze, and then proceeding with your analysis, such as regression or correlation. KNIME has over 4,500 nodes available for download. In addition, KNIME offers various extensions. For instance, the text processing extension allows you to process text data efficiently. It's more powerful than other tools like NVivo and Palantir. KNIME also has AI capabilities. If you're unsure about the next step, the AI assistant can suggest the most frequently used nodes based on your previous work. Another valuable feature is the integration with Python. If you need to perform a task that requires Python, you can simply add a Python node, write the necessary code,

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"It helped us find find the optimal area for where our warehouse should be located."
"The best part of Anaconda is the media distribution that comes as part of it. It gets us started very quickly."
"I can use Anaconda for non-heavy tasks."
"With Anaconda Navigator, we have been able to use multiple IDEs such as JupyterLab, Jupyter Notebook, Spyder, Visual Studio Code, and RStudio in one place. The platform-agnostic package manager, "Conda", makes life easy when it comes to managing and installing packages."
"Anaconda is an open-source platform that can integrate numerous other kits and models in one place."
"It has a lot of functionality available, supports many libraries, and the developers are continually improving it."
"The notebook feature is an improvement over RStudio."
"It's interesting. It's user friendly. That's what makes it outstanding among the others. It has a collection of R, Python, and others. Their platform strategy has a collection of many other visualization tools, apart from Spyder and RStudio, which is really helpful for data science. For any data science professional, Anaconda is really handy. It has almost all the tools for data science."
"The most valuable features of KNIME are its ability to convert your sub-workflow into a node. For example, the workflow has many individual native nodes that can be converted into a single node. This representation has simplified my workflow to a great extent. I can present my workflow in a very compact way."
"KNIME is easy to learn."
"It allows for a user-friendly approach where you can simply drag and drop elements to create your model, which is a convenient and effective idea."
"The solution is good for teaching, since there is no need to code."
"The hardest part is keeping a tidy workspace because of the many nodes involved. When teaching, it would be helpful if there was more emphasis on how to group nodes effectively. For example, turning frequently used nodes into a single component can simplify things."
"It's a huge tool with machine learning features as well."
"It is very fast to develop solutions."
"We have been able to appreciate the considerable reduction in prototyping time."

Cons

"Having a small guide or video on the tool would help learn how to use it and what the features are."
"I think better documentation or a step-by-step guide for installation would help, especially for on-premise users."
"The process could be streamlined as the number of actions needed to deploy is quite large compared to other tools."
"The solution would benefit from offering more automation."
"A lot of people and companies are investing in creating automated data cleaning and processing environments. Anaconda is a bit behind in that area."
"It crashes once in a while. In case of a reboot or something unexpected, the unseen code part will get diminished, and it relatively takes longer than other applications when a reboot is happening. They can improve in these areas. They can also bring some database software. They have software for analytics and virtualization. However, they don't have any software for the database."
"Anaconda consumes a significant amount of processing memory when working on it."
"Anaconda can't handle heavy workloads."
"In my environment, I need to access a lot of servers with different characteristics and access methods. Some of my servers have to be accessed using proxy which is not supported by KNIME, so I still need to create the middleware to supply the source of my KNIME configurations."
"It's difficult to provide input on the improvement area because it's more of self-learning. However, there are times when I am not able to do certain things. I don't know if it's because the solution doesn't allow me or if it's because of the lack of knowledge."
"Though I can use KNIME in a 64-bit platform in the lab, it's missing some features. For example, from my laptop, I can use the image reader feature of KNIME. However, in the lab, the image reader node is missing."
"From the point of view of the interface, they can do a little bit better."
"KNIME can improve by adding more automation tools in the query, similar to UiPath or Blue Prism. It would make the data collection and cleanup duties more versatile."
"The main issue with KNIME is that it sometimes uses too much CPU and RAM when working with large amounts of data."
"I wish there were more video training resources for KNIME. The current videos are very short, and most learning is text-based. Longer training sessions would be helpful, especially for complex flowchart use cases. Webinars focusing on starting projects and analyzing data would also be beneficial."
"They could add more detailed examples of the functionality of every node, how it works and how we can use it, to make things easier at the beginning."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The licensing costs for Anaconda are reasonable."
"The tool is open-source."
"The product is open-source and free to use."
"My company uses the free version of the tool. There is also a paid version of the tool available."
"Anaconda is free to use, but in terms of hardware costs, you might need heavy GPUs to run CUDA and other demanding tasks."
"There is no cost for using KNIME because it is an open-source solution, but you have to pay if you need a server."
"I use the tool's free version."
"KNIME is free as a stand-alone desktop-based platform but if you want to get a KNIME server then you can find the cost on their website."
"I use the open-source version."
"KNIME offers a free version"
"With KNIME, you can use the desktop version free of charge as much as you like. I've yet to hit its limits. If I did, I'd have to go to the server version, and for that you have to pay. Fortunately, I don't have to at the moment."
"This is an open-source solution that is free to use."
"They have different versions, but I am using the open-source one."
