A scalable solution for backup and restore that has an easy setup
The solution's updates and rollouts of the patches cause a lot of problems. There's no other way around it. Recently, we have also faced RDS and print server issues. One of our clients experienced some remote desktop service issues. These things keep happening with Microsoft. They have a patch, and then they have some other rollout that fixes it. The solution should be more consistent with its patching updates.

Backup operations have become reliable and reporting now simplifies hybrid cloud protection
Veeam Data Platform has Veeam Enterprise Manager as well as Veeam ONE as valuable features, which allow us to generate various kinds of reports that are required for the customer. Instant VM Recovery is a good feature of the high-speed recovery features in Veeam Data Platform, and Continuous Data Protection (CDP) is also a good feature. Ransomware protection is a good feature added in Veeam Data Platform from version 12 onwards, and the ability to create immutable repositories is also a good feature in Veeam. The analytics part of Veeam Data Platform is a good solution because I have worked on various backup technologies such as EMC NetWorker and NetBackup. However, I have not used the analytical parts currently but will check it out. Streamlining processes as well as saving money are benefits that Veeam Data Platform provides for the end user, as it allows for application-aware backups and database backups without the need for various kinds of licenses that other backup software requires. Veeam offers socket-based licenses, instance-based licenses, and capacity-based licenses, which is a great feature.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Backup and Restore for SharePoint & Microsoft Office 365 is easy to use."
"The solution has good scalability."
"The stability has always been very good."
"The most valuable feature includes leaving the stub files behind and integrating that with the recenter feature."
"It's streamlined the backup and recovery for my customers in the sense that it has an easy management console that's easy to set up any type of instant recovery."
"The flexibility provided by Veeam Data Platform's hybrid deployment options is very simple, efficient, and user-friendly."
"Veeam ONE effectively centralizes the view of different tools."
"The most valuable feature is the continuous backup."
"Its stability and scalability were the main reasons for going for this solution. It is highly scalable, and its stability is also powerful. It has a friendly interface, and its monitoring and performance are the best in the market."
"The restore capabilities are the most valuable features."
"The solution's most valuable feature is that its reports are detailed compared to other tools."
"It is a stable and scalable solution that's easy to operate and restore."

Cons

"The solution's updates and rollouts of the patches cause a lot of problems."
"We need more options for the backup schedule."
"The user experience needs a little refreshing touch."
"I think the solution itself keeps up with everything else. Sometimes it would be nice if they could move a little bit quicker and have faster updates, but in terms of the features, it's absolutely fine and adequate."
"Veeam Backup Replication is a bit difficult to use. If you have used other solutions such as Commvault, you will find it is much easier to use. Veeam Backup Replication does backups in a different way that is not as simple as other solutions. Doing backups of SQL Servers is much easier in Commvault. However, the difficulty could be the lack of experience I have had with Veeam Backup Replication."
"The tech support could be better."
"Perhaps the interface could be improved, though it has always been fine for me."
"Agent backups could be better. I have many problems with agent backups, particularly on Linux and MySQL databases. MySQL works well with Microsoft products but not with other products. The database backups are not working correctly, and we are losing business. I am not getting any support; administration is also a significant problem."
"Backup management features are crucial for ensuring the reliability and automation of backup processes."
"The endpoint protection console is not centralized."
"The solution's pricing may be expensive compared to other products."
"The Cloud version is not ready, they need maturity and ease of deployment in terms of management."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Regarding CloudArchiver, you purchase per terabyte."
"The solution could also be cheaper."
"The solution’s pricing is expensive."
"It is not expensive and I would rate it five out of ten."
"Its price is reasonable for a big company or a big client. It is not too much. It is cheaper than VMware."
"The price of Veeam Backup Replication could be reduced. The customers are looking at other products because the price is higher than some of the competition."
"I don't pay for the solution, so I can't comment on the cost."
"Veeam ONE is cheaper when you compare it with one of its competitors in the ops space, VMware vRealize Operations. There's a separate department that deals with the licensing, but my company is using CSP licensing, which is the service provider licensing, so my company doesn't fall under the normal volume at the Veeam Universal licensing program. The cost is commit-based and depends on what your point commit is. The point commit works differently, and it's similar to your sales provider license. If you commit to using one thousand five hundred points, you get a certain price. If you commit to using the eight hundred points scheme, you get a certain price. As you grow the point scheme, you get a different price range, so it doesn't matter whether you're using Veeam One, Veeam Availability Suite, Veeam Backup and Replication, Orchestrate, or whatever the product is."
"The price of Veeam is much lower than the IBM solution."
"We try to use perpetual licensing, and there are no additional costs. They have recently moved to universal licensing, which is more expensive, and I would like them to go back to host licensing."
"The solution is fairly priced. I rate the pricing a five out of ten."
