Automates Java EE Application Deployment from an SCM system
Total build time has been reduced from four weeks to one week, then later to 24 hours. * Threat remediation: Combine with SecOps to link vulnerabilities to identified patches and create a remediation plan. * Compliance: Integrates role-based access control with pre-configured policies for CIS, DISA, HIPAA, PCI, SOX, NIST, and SCAP documentation and remediation. * Provisioning: Supports unattended installs and image-based, script-based, or template-based provisioning. * Configuration: Consistently manage change and configuration activities across a broad range of server environments with one tool. * Reporting: Assesses change impact or completes an audit using multiple dashboard views. * Patching: Supports and follows Maintenance Window Guidelines to ensure timely delivery of patches.

Has instrument analysis and anomaly control features that help indicate root causes and problems with your infrastructure
I have experience with other solutions apart from Micro Focus Operations Bridge, for example, NetIQ Operations Center and NetIQ AppManager. I also have experience with network performance monitoring solutions, for example, Microsoft SCOM, and some open-source products, such as Nagios and Zabbix. What makes Micro Focus Operations Bridge better than others is that it works as an umbrella and includes different models for different types of monitoring. At the same time, an open-source product does not give you this kind of functionality. Instead, an open-source product only gives you classic monitoring functionalities in some areas of network performance but not for all areas of monitoring solutions or infrastructure. Microsoft SCOM, at the moment, has many new features, and it's similar to Micro Focus which focuses on network performance and traffic monitoring, so my company uses it together with Micro Focus for monitoring.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Assesses change impact or completes an audit using multiple dashboard views."
"Supports unattended installs and image-based, script-based, or template-based provisioning."
"CLM has a multi-cloud portal because they have the resources to implement in various environments in various ports."
"By allowing end users to request their own services, the request process for systems is much quicker and more accurate."
"You can tie together your public and private cloud infrastructure into a "single pane of glass"."
"Integrates role-based access control with pre-configured policies for CIS, DISA, HIPAA, PCI, SOX, NIST, and SCAP documentation and remediation."
"Automates Java EE Application Deployment from an SCM system."
"The correlation feature is the most used feature. It allows you to correlate events from different sources and have more meaningful events."
"From our monitoring perspective or from a visibility perspective, HPE UCMDB is a must have. It's an amazing piece of software."
"Purely, its flexibility is the most valuable aspect. It is hugely configurable."
"Flexible dashboard with the availability of widgets."
"It allows us to build dashboards for individual parts of the business. Our team members appreciate that they can just get a view of their part of the world without having to worry about anyone else's."
"The most valuable features of the solution are its grouping scripts and event focus."
"The preloaded rules and ways to monitor your systems are a must."
"OpsBridge has good event correlation facilities and root-cause identification algorithms."

Cons

"The installation and configuration can be tricky due to it being built on Remedy."
"Needs integrations with other providers to provide a custom public cloud environment."
"One of the major problems is that support is not so good."
"I'm not aware of areas that need improvement."
"In a future release, we would like an improved upgrade process. When you upgrade it now, it first uninstalls everything and then reinstalls all the packages, which means any customization that you've done in the directories on the surface disappears."
"I know that in the next version, X1005, they're moving to more graphical overviews, which should help our senior managers."
"The latest versions of the service reporting dashboards need improvement, such as service modeling."
"What needs improvement in Micro Focus Operations Bridge is its resource heaviness because you need many resources to deploy and support it. It's a good solution for larger organizations, but for small businesses, not so much."
"It is a very complicated product. It's difficult to manage. Nowadays, products are very easy to manage, deploy, and integrate, but Operations Bridge is very complicated to manage."
"The setup process can get a little bit complex."
"Installing and upgrading the HPOM and Operations Agent software is not always easy and the process can be quite fragile. Once it is running, it is very quick and stable, but an upgrade can quite easily break something or terminate unexpectedly."

Pricing and Cost Advice

Information not available
"It is competitive."
"As OpsBridge is a suite of products bundled together, you may find yourself paying for software functionality that you don't actually use, e.g. Real User Monitor (RUM)."
