The features I use in Cisco Duo include Duo Pushes to confirm my identity to the device, and eventually as MFA security was increased, I actually had to use exchange passcodes. Sometimes, I have to go into the site and get into Cisco Duo to retrieve the passcode, and many of them have been two-factor, where the sites send a passcode that I have to enter into Cisco Duo. It has been more of the latter. I have not seen issues with lagging or crashing on Cisco Duo's end; it was usually on the client end, often because someone set up a bad upgrade or there were connection issues with the Cisco Duo cloud through the administrative site.

Easy to use, reliable, and offers a straightforward setup
We are customers and end-users. We've dealt with the solution for a long time. We've seen how they developed as a startup, and how they've matured over time. They're actually quite advanced and they are sometimes cutting edge compared to other competitors. I'd recommend the solution. They do things very differently. They're very advanced and they're standards-based. They basically have got a very good vision in terms of how they do strong authentication. Other companies are actually following suit and following what they've done to support standards. They're quite advanced and simple to use, with a good support model. They have the edge compared to other solution providers. In general, I would rate the solution at an eight out of ten.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Duo Security has helped remediate threats more quickly and offers security end to end."
"As a former employee, I think it's top-notch when it comes to protecting internal and external threats and preventing unauthorized access to the network."
"The most valuable feature of Cisco Duo for us is the multi-factor authentication."
"Cisco Duo scales very well with the growing needs of my company; during COVID, when we had a higher number of users, there were no problems at all."
"With respect to our users feeling safe, secure, supported, and included, Duo Security is among the best solutions that we have ever used."
"Everybody loves it. They feel a sense of security when they get that prompt to send them a text, or an email."
"It is a great system regarding multi-factor authentication, specifically after we did the integration with Active Directory, allowing us to manage the users who use the VPN, our main gateway for VPN Cisco ASA Secure, with full administration."
"Cisco Duo seems very scalable—in my experience, I started with a small-medium business, and in my last contracting position, it was a large one for a major worldwide airline that had hundreds of thousands of devices that could use Cisco Duo, and it scaled very well."
"They are sometimes cutting edge compared to other competitors and have a very good vision in terms of how they do strong authentication, being quite advanced, simple to use, and standards-based with a good support model, giving them an edge compared to other solution providers."
"The technical support is quite good."

Cons

"There is another issue with removing the application from your computer. It is difficult to remove the application on Windows."
"Duo has some issues that we're trying to work through. For example, if I install it on a WordPress site and another admin needs to log in, they can't because Duo hasn't been set up for them. It doesn't appear that I can add permissions on a user-by-user basis. It's not obvious."
"Cisco Duo has not helped my company reduce its overall authentication-related costs, as it is a cost above what we already have."
"We were considering purchasing other products, like AMP for Endpoints, and it was not properly integrated with the firewall function. It might be better now with SecureX."
"I believe Cisco Duo needs to be improved on the delay process because there is a delay when we send a Duo Push or when we are signing into any applications."
"It took me a while to figure it out. I went to every user and forced them to set it up. I might have done it the long way."
"I wish that the support would be a little bit more prompt and a little bit more flexible because there are certain things that they will do and certain things they won't do."
"It already integrates with lots of products, but it can integrate with more products. There should be easy integration with Cisco products because sometimes, it can be quite complicated."
"There's nothing wrong with the solution that we can see. However, maybe they could improve slightly by incorporating decentralized identity blockchain models into their solution."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"I am not aware of the pricing. There are two departments, and I don't have any information about them."
"The cost was reasonable. Licensing was pretty straightforward for a change."
"It falls in line with everything else."
"Cisco has the most expensive products because market leaders tend to charge a lot."
"I rate the product pricing a seven out of ten."
"Their pricing model is a little bit weird. Currently, there is no price advantage in signing up for yearly contracts. There are no additional costs to the standard licensing costs."
"Price wise, it's not cheap, but it's not expensive at all either. It's in the middle."
"Its price is reasonable. It is not highly expensive."
