Offers good performance, good solution and smooth implementation
I do have a suggestion: it would be helpful to have even stronger security features to help protect against interference from other nearby access points that aren't part of our network. If there are access points from other brands installed nearby; they can cause interference and disrupt the range of our Mist access points. So, the security features could be stronger, especially in terms of authentication. The connectivity is excellent, but security needs improvement. In future releases, integrating more AI features would be beneficial. If Mist had stronger AI features, it could provide better security against network threats and cyberattacks. So, this solution still needs to improve its AI capabilities. It would be great if the AI could improve the range of the access points, and auto-protect functionality should be there to avoid interference by other nearby access points and enhance threat detection. In the future, I'd like to see stronger threat detection features integrated with Mist, as well as better detection of nearby access points that might cause interference.

Affordable, resilient, and performs better than other solutions in the market
Assurance capabilities must be improved. There should be more Assurance features on the Wireless LAN Controller. A lot of it is bundled into the DNA Center. Having a little more Assurance regarding what the RF Spectrum looks like will be good. Juniper Mist has a lot of analytical data on the dashboard. The customers would be compelled to look at DNA Center as a longer-term and more comprehensive solution if Cisco were to give them an insight into some of the Assurance capabilities that might be available in DNA Center. The tool must provide something like RF Neighbor. It must enable organizations to receive signal strength and signal-to-noise ratio and see how clients perform in their wireless network. It must have a cap. If we want additional functionality to see our entire network, that's where DNA Center fits in.

Helps resolve network-related issues quickly and is reasonably priced
The tool has both advantages and weaknesses because it has several pieces of software on which it has been working because of buyouts. The tool has several branches of software versions, and you can consolidate it into ExtremeCloud, but it also has the disadvantage that sometimes people can get issues because the software on the hardware is different than they expected, especially if it is not converted to the tool used. The tool has simplified things, but it also adds a complexity that sometimes stumps some users. In the future, I think the tool’s onboarding setup of a new tenant could be smoother or faster. I also think that they could provide a simpler setup for first-level support so that it can be easier for them to have a support dashboard that would help them. I am talking about customer support organizations, so you usually have a high turnaround, but you need to have something that is easier to use and where you don't need so much training.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"It provides private network access, helping us protect our company’s devices."
"With Mist, every Wednesday they roll out new features."
"The artificial intelligence feature is very good."
"The solution is pretty generic and easy to use."
"In terms of reporting, in terms of all the user reports, it's very rich."
"Overall, we've been very pleased with the performance."
"The solution is very secure."
"You can easily monitor, manage, and cover all your IT equipment."
"Cisco Wireless technology allows us to logically segregate networks, to segregate the traffic between multiple types of endpoint devices, connected to the network. For example, corporate laptops are connected to one network, corporate iPhones will go through a different network."
"The feature that I have found most valuable is its durability because we can rely on this solution. It is also easy to configure. Lastly, if something happens, we get good support from Cisco."
"Cisco Wireless solutions are easy to use."
"The CleanAir features and the fast transition."
"Creating policies is simple."
"We are using Cisco access point 2802, and they are very reliable."
"Cisco Wireless is mostly stable with a low downrate and the signal rate is good. It is also easy to use."
"Compared to other solutions, captive guest network is one of the best isolation and tunneling."
"The cloud-based management interface allows us to fully manage all our wireless radios, ensuring consistency and ease of access."
"ExtremeCloud IQ is integrated with the Ekahau tool so that you can log in to the ExtremeCloud IQ portal, upload the cloud plans, draw all the interiors, and plan the APs with the real-time AP position."
"The HiveManager integration with the VPN Gateway is awesome."
"The dashboards are great and the user interface is quite intuitive."
"Everything can be seen from the dashboard."
"It's extremely easy to deploy. Even our access points are behind the net, not using real, public IP. We can easily add to the cloud. For deployment, we just need to let the access point take the DSCP from IP and then, even if it's not a requirement, we can see the serial number from the access points and add the serial number to the cloud directly."
"The tech who handles Extreme IQ tells me it's easy to use and learn. He felt like it was pretty intuitive. It comes with solid training materials. He also has talked about the security features that give you as much or as little control as you want."
"When we deployed the new IP that is managed wirelessly in the cloud, it fixed the problems. Now, we don't have any more reports, and everything works fine."

Cons

"The product should include adaptive Wi-Fi to show a more accurate location."
"The price could be better."
"Improving third-party integration is key for Juniper Mist's next release."
"The pricing is very high in the Indian market."
"Enrolling into the tool is a tedious process."
"They should include SD-WAN features to it."
"Juniper Wireless AP can improve by continually improving its reporting and integration with other systems."
"The solution is expensive."
"In the next release, I would like to see some AI capability deployed. Other competitors like Mist and Juniper already have it. So, AI features need to be introduced next year."
"An expensive solution that small companies cannot afford."
"The technical support could be better. They aren't as helpful as they need to be when we run into issues."
"It's very scalable, but when you shift gears sometimes, you have to do more work than people anticipate."
"There are some areas of improvement needed in roaming and streaming."
"Before deploying a wireless solution, you have to read and plan every role, every windows system, put in your access point, and then make the audit. This solution is not the best one to do this. We use another solution that is called Eko. In the future, if this solution could have better auditing capabilities it would be better."
"The internet speed is high within environments. As you move further away from the access point, there is a decline in speed. Omada or Ruckus don’t have the speed degradation as you move away from the access point."
"The solution should introduce natural language troubleshooting processes. It will identify possible problems or errors due to the symptoms."
"The managing of switches within this solution could be improved."
"Certain features only exist or work in certain versions."
"ExtremeCloud should invest in an SD-WAN solution or integration with SD-WAN."
"I would like to see a remote phone application for monitoring APs when on the road."
"The licensing model could be improved."
"Integrating the network access control solution can be complex, as it essentially combines two separate products."
"We'd like to have a cloud dashboard from which we can see all devices."
"From our perspective, we would love to see Aerohive provide faster feature enhancement in their Virtual Appliance to match the features with the cloud solution more quickly."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Juniper Wireless AP's price is a little more expensive than other solutions, but you get what you pay for."
"The solution is expensive."
"I rate Juniper Mist's pricing a ten out of ten since it is expensive."
"The pricing is too high."
"I rate the pricing an eight out of ten."
"I rate the product price as a six on a scale of one to ten, where one is inexpensive, and ten is expensive. It is a reasonably priced tool."
"If a customer has a budget of around five lakhs in Indian currency, they can afford Juniper products."
"We pay maybe 1000 SEK per year, per access point."
"I think it's affordable. Maybe there are little differences, but it's not very expensive. But with all Cisco products, you have to pay more for the power supply. You'll have to pay for the PoE converter."
"The price of Cisco Wireless is in the high range compared to other solutions. The solution could be less expensive."
"There are annual subscriptions to use this solution. I have not been able to understand the licensing of Cisco. Some of the Cisco executives were not able to understand them either. When you first start out the price is zero but when it comes to a time of renewal you have to pay."
"Cisco licensing is usually provided on a yearly basis rather than monthly. You can get a hardware SLA or hardware and software SLA for a period of years. Longer terms influence the level of support that you get when it comes to Cisco SLA."
"The price of Cisco Wireless equipment is expensive."
"The solution does not come with a licensing fee."
"This is an expensive product."
"The pricing is a bit high."
"It is easy for customers to use this product because they are able to interchange the license depending on their usage rather than having to buy individual licenses for each asset."
"Customers need to pay a yearly licensing fee for ExtremeCloud IQ, which is a little bit expensive."
"Extreme is twice as cheap compared to Cisco due to the currency exchange. Normally, I think Cisco would be a little bit more expensive, but there wouldn't be that much of a difference."
"ExtremeCloud IQ's pricing is medium, but its support contract costs more."
"I did a multi-year license. It was a three-year license. It compares well with others in terms of the price. It is about a hundred dollars per year on a three-year scale."
"Start small and grow big. You can choose the basic Aerohive Connect free subscription solution and, later, if needed (in terms of functionality) you can upgrade to Aerohive Select."
"It is not the cheapest product but I think that the price is reasonable because you get a lot of support of it's needed."
"Extreme licensing is based on the number of access points. When you buy the license for the first year, everything is included, such as access to mapping, etc. If you don't renew your software assurance for the second year, the access points will still work, but you can't use the cloud management tools."
