Logging and customizable rules have helped improve threat monitoring and detection
The logging is mainly what I consider one of the best features with Cisco Sourcefire SNORT. Being able to log and store it in a file allows you to push it to a centralized repository. The logging and reporting help improve incident response. You should always be logging threats, any sort of misconfiguration, and anything that could be an issue. It's important to at least log and monitor it. The basic rules provide a good baseline in assessing Cisco Sourcefire SNORT's ability in providing real-time analytics for threat detection, but as a professional, you should look to constantly modify that baseline. They provide extensive customizability so you can define your own rules. The customizability allows it to be adaptable in protecting against diverse network threats to the constant change.

Has improved network monitoring with AI-driven insights and centralized device management
The best features of ExtremeCloud IQ include the integration of different vendors in one dashboard, the evolution of the manager, and any devices in networking. The impact of ExtremeCloud IQ on my organization is positive as the deployment is for a hybrid solution, using third-party vendors and cloud solutions for Extreme devices, switches, IP, and access points or SD-WAN solution devices. My IT team is occupied with other jobs, and ExtremeCloud IQ helps with monitoring networking at low costs. For networking and access points, it acts as a controller in a cloud environment, eliminating the need for an appliance controller or wireless LAN controller, thus saving on investment and reducing TCO costs.

"The whole solution is very good, and stable."
"The solution is stable."
"The most valuable feature is reliability, and this solution is better than Check Point."
"It simplifies the configuration process by offering pre-defined base configurations, including security and connectivity settings."
"The solution is rather easy to use."
"It has a huge rate of protection, a low level of positives, is easy to deploy and implement, has an incredible price rate compared to similar solutions, and has a good support channel and technical assistance."
"What our customers like the most is that this device is so rugged, has very good performance and throughput, and its console is very easy to use with many features, which makes it different from its competitors."
"The setup is easy and the deep configurations are more robust than Meraki devices."
"The main reason why a lot of customers choose this solution is because of how scalable it is."
"It has been a great product."
"Aerohive makes it much faster and easier to deploy."
"For me personally I find the easy web interface for general system maintenance makes the product a joy to work with."
"Since these APs are controller-less they are very dependable and easy to configure."
"App and firewall security at the AP."

Cons

"Performance needs improvement."
"With the next release, I would like to see some PBR, so that you can do the configuration with the features."
"The pricing needs to be improved."
"The utopia is to see everything from one dashboard, but sometimes that's not very possible."
"I would like to have analytics included in the suite."
"If the price is brought down then everybody will be happy."
"The implementation could be a bit easier."
"The main dashboard of Cisco Sourcefire SNORT could improve."
"Pricing is a little high, but I have no complaints with the service or devices themselves."
"It needs to have a good Layer 7 and a better user interface."
"I know a school district, a big school district of mine, ripped out Extreme due to inefficiencies."
"In terms of what I'd like to see in the next release of the solution, right now, the inventory for ExtremeCloud IQ is awful. There's no stock, and you must wait a year and a half for new stocks. It's awful."
"The solution will show us that there are some issues, but when we try to find those issues, we can't see them."
"Integrating the network access control solution can be complex, as it essentially combines two separate products."
"The certification costs from suppliers are getting out of control, and it's not just Extreme."
"They can improve just the onboarding process. More user information about the introduction to the product would be helpful."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The cost is per port and can be expensive but it does include training and support for three years."
"We have a three-year license for this solution."
"I don't know the exact amount, but most of the time when I go to a company with a proposition, they will say, "This thing that you are selling is good, but it's expensive. Why don't you propose something like FortiGate, Check Point, or Palo Alto?" Cisco device are expensive compared to other devices."
"Licensing for this solution is paid on a yearly basis."
"If one is an extremely expensive product, and ten is cheap, I rate the tool's price as a five."
"Although the pricing is a bit high, I consider Aerohive to be well worth the money."
"The pricing is so cost-effective that it leaves no room for competition with other vendors."
"The product pricing is reasonable."
"I would advise that you be sure to compare apples with apples. Many customers just look at the price per AP and licences, and compare that against other solutions. But, they do not look at the complete picture such as: TCO - how much the equipment will cost you over, say, seven years? Will the customer need to change complete infrastructure when they want to buy the newest hardware? Does support include a lifetime warranty and RMA?"
"Customers need to pay a yearly licensing fee for ExtremeCloud IQ, which is a little bit expensive."
"Extreme licensing is based on the number of access points. When you buy the license for the first year, everything is included, such as access to mapping, etc. If you don't renew your software assurance for the second year, the access points will still work, but you can't use the cloud management tools."
"Start small and grow big. You can choose the basic Aerohive Connect free subscription solution and, later, if needed (in terms of functionality) you can upgrade to Aerohive Select."
"It is easy for customers to use this product because they are able to interchange the license depending on their usage rather than having to buy individual licenses for each asset."
