Enables proactive threat detection and immediate response through AI monitoring
The most valuable feature of Darktrace is its ability to detect and counter threats before they occur. The autonomous response capability is always enabled, blocking threats immediately without hesitation. Additionally, the Darktrace email platform is a significant asset since it addresses incoming threats before they reach the network, enhancing our security measures. Protecting the business is essential, and ensuring security through 24/7 AI monitoring is invaluable.
Amr Shawky - PeerSpot reviewer
Replaces internal DNS servers effectively with strong support for network security
For users not already working with Infoblox, it is advisable to present it as a centralized integrated solution to handle DNS IPAM. Not all customers understand DNS security threats, so emphasizing its importance is crucial. On a scale of one to ten, I rate Infoblox Advanced DNS Protection as ten for the overall solution.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Darktrace is valuable since it offers full packet capture and detailed metadata."
"Its most valuable feature is its ability to identify malicious connected IPs from outside and the attacks that get through to the inside."
"Darktrace provides better visibility into network risks, allowing you to take preemptive action against risky user behavior."
"The AI-based pattern is the most valuable feature."
"The most valuable features of Darktrace are its full capabilities. You have visibility of everything."
"Artificial intelligence and machine learning functionalities are valuable."
"The Antigena feature is most valuable. Once it learns your environment, Antigena can step in and block a denial of service attack, a ransomware attack, or just about anything that doesn't belong in the environment. It can detect any type of attack that hits the environment because it understands what normal looks like for the network. It is very useful for an autonomous response."
"The most valuable feature of Darktrace and the most valuable feature is the artificial intelligence module because that is the tool that determines automatically if there is any risk or not in the network."
"The most effective feature we find is the ability to log traffic."
"Centralized management of DNS, DHCP, and IPAM helped us a lot in simplifying and automating the management of network and services."
"Infoblox's render scalability and technical support for the DNAT firewalling adaptation are seen as top benefits."
"Infoblox Advanced DNS Protection allows us to manage our overall addresses and IT in one location. Many companies are using this solution, it is very popular."
"The security of the solution is perfect. It's very good at protecting us from attacks."
"The solution helps to identify and mitigate DNS attacks."
"Infoblox DNS is quite stable. We haven't faced any failures post-implementation, and we haven't received any calls for troubleshooting or protection issues."
"I rate Infoblox Advanced DNS Protection as ten for the overall solution."

Cons

"The product is considered expensive compared to others."
"There is a high ratio of false positive information."
"In terms of improvements, fine-tuning is the area where we have to spend some time because it works on unsupervised machine learning. It would be good if they can improve their algorithm or technical functionality to reduce the fine-tuning effort. They can also come up with something at the endpoint level. So far, Darktrace has been a network detection response (NDR) solution. It does not offer much at the endpoint level or on user-client devices or servers. There should be more visibility at the endpoint level. It would be good to have the detection and response at the endpoint level by Darktrace. It should also have integration with an agile environment so that we can have continuous development and continuous integration in the application development environment. This is currently not there. It should also have internet-facing platform visibility, which is currently missing. They also need to improve the reporting and management dashboards. Currently, these are not so easy for a non-technical person. All these features would make Darktrace much better, and they would also be helpful in selling more solutions."
"Getting logs from different sources can be a challenge."
"It should be easier to access the Darktrace portal and its documentation. Only the customer can access their portal and support. It could be cheaper."
"In an upcoming release, there could be more customizable playbooks or a library of playbooks to choose from."
"Darktrace could expand into EDR (endpoint detection and response) and combine it with its network detection."
"The level of tracking within the network from the transmission level up to the machine level can use improvement."
"Infoblox needs to adapt its protection to better cover enterprises, particularly in the context of pricing when compared to competitors like Cloudflare."
"They are not supporting high query logging. They have a very limited size for the syslog, so they are usually asking for external storage, external network, and integration in order to keep the syslog. If you are considering the high volume traffic of the carrier-grade, then the syslog will hold for around five to 10 minutes. This is not enough time and it is being rotated. This is the main issue and the main limitation that we face with them that they need to work on."
"The solution is expensive."
"I think only the technical documentation and administration of box could be a little bit improved."
"There needs to be more capabilities in order to configure the console itself instead of the user interface dashboard. Configuring the DNS or DHCP through the console instead of the GUI dashboard would be better."
"They should release frequent updates for its on-premises version."
"The service monitoring information could be simplified of this appliance and the information displayed on the dashboards could be improved. I have not found one dashboard to be perfect. For example, in Splunk, I can create a dashboard in Grafana. However, in Grafana, it takes a very long time to create them. There should be another API to do it better."
"The solution's logging could be improved."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The pricing is expensive. It costs over $100,000 a year."
"I'm unfamiliar with the exact cost, but we have a yearly license and had to pay for Darktrace's services before the deployment. The product is very expensive, so some organizations can't afford to pay the total amount directly, meaning they often seek a partner or pay in installments, which increases the price more."
"We've budgeted about 50,000 Kuwaiti dinars for the solution. That is a yearly operating cost."
"Our customers feel that the price of Darktrace is quite high compared to other solutions."
"There is an annual license to use Darktrace."
"It is a very expensive product."
"The solution is about $6,000 per quarter."
"Darktrace is expensive. You can pay for the license yearly."
"There are no additional costs to the standard licensing price of the solution."
"Infoblox Advanced DNS Protection is a little more expensive than other vendors."
"The price of Infoblox Advanced DNS Protection could be reduced, it is expensive."
"I am not sure about the price of the solution, but I heard it is expensive."
"The solution is expensive."
