Easy to set up with good security and rapidly improving capabilities
In terms of stability, the performance parameters do come into play. It's good on the regular office front, however, on the development side, if somebody is using it in a development environment, they need to make some configuration changes in terms of what directories should be excluded from the real-time scanning. I had to do that kind of stuff. I don't do that with the Microsoft product, for example. It runs, and it scans the entire system with no issues. The solution is stable. Regular updates were available in the product versions. They were updated, and they gave regular signature updates also so that the product checked all the boxes.

Light and powerful solution design; useful to have
My impression is that the initial setup process is quite straightforward. If you know what you're using it for, the initial setup can be quite easy and the solution is not that hard to use. When it comes to the steps taken for the implementation, you would select the OS you're using and when the files are sent to the appliance you check, and in the appliance configuration, it must be like the visual governance environment. You must set up the OS you have so that appliance can scan or analyze your file. To maintain this solution, you must always have at least one all-around person tuning this solution.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"ESET Endpoint Security is stable. When comparing the solution to competitors it is more stable."
"The most valuable features for me in ESET Endpoint Security are the antivirus feature and detection."
"The protection and device control features are the most valuable. I found its user interface and integration pretty good. It is very user friendly as compared to other products."
"The most valuable feature of ESET Endpoint Security is the antivirus for the endpoints."
"The maintenance is easy."
"They do a program where you can renew for three years. It's very reasonable, as far as the cost per year, because you can renew for three years. They will also do multiple computers, so I actually protect all my family computers, as well as my work computers, all under one license. This means I only have to deal with re-upping my license once every three years. That's the big thing for me."
"We do not have a domain structure yet but we can manage our client stations via this solution's managing interface. This means that we don't need to have any extra management platforms."
"The most valuable features of ESET Endpoint Antivirus are that it is lightweight, it will not take up too much CPU and memory of the server or workstation. The detection is good and easy to use."
"Fortinet FortiSandbox's most valuable feature is the security it provides against threats, such as ransomware. Additionally, it integrates well with APIs."
"Fortinet FortiSandbox puts suspicious files in quarantine, analyzes for virus risks, and lets them out of quarantine if it detects no risk."
"Compared to other solutions, it's easy to configure and implement because of the templates. The timing of scanning files is faster."
"The solution has the highest stability...The solution's setup is not complex as they are already included in Fortinet."
"The most valuable feature was the EDR, endpoint detection and response."
"The solution extracts an attached file before reaching the user and notifies the user if there's something malicious in the attachment received along with an email."
"The dynamic behavior analysis is excellent. We have many attacks caught by the FortiSandbox as zero-day attacks. Additionally, the administration is simple and can be customized to fit your companies needs."
"The most valuable feature is the protection and the way it works, the technology is what I like the most."

Cons

"They need to improve licensing for VMs. When ESET is uninstalled from a VM, the seat stays on the license management server. We have to manually delete the seat from that server because it doesn't know how to handle it. I contacted exclusive ESET support here in Croatia and they told me there is no solution for this yet."
"The problem was that it didn't support Windows 7."
"The user interface of ESET Endpoint Security could be more user-friendly and more features could be added."
"I used Avira previously and ESET lacks certain aspects in comparison to Avira."
"While the pricing is good, they could always lower it a bit."
"The solution could be more user-friendly."
"They should focus more on the offline market as well. Everybody is connected nowadays, and they want to do everything via cloud or fast internet connections, however, that's still not possible in many situations."
"I've had a few other instances where the program stops running, and then you have to restore and reset it."
"There could be more templates and a higher number of simulated VMs to configure more use cases. Sometimes we need to configure many use cases in many different environments, and if the number of VMs that we configure is limited, we have to remove some and reconfigure the environment if we need another environment."
"The integration is limited. The solution needs to offer better integration with multiple vendors."
"It should be easier to import custom virtual machines. Some of the VMs that are in FortiSandbox don't have the applications that we have in our environment. We need to import a VM with specific applications that we use in our environment. Have all the licenses because this is a real environment. You need a license for the Windows client you run on it. It's possible to import custom VMs, but it's a pain to do it. I would like a tool that simplifies the process."
"The use cases in Fortinet FortiSandbox are not good. It is difficult to upload a custom VM for Fortinet FortiSandbox. The integration of Fortinet FortiSandbox with other Fortinet or FortiGate firewalls is not good. VMs are already installed in the hardware and are working fine, but we tried to approve the custom VM many times but did not succeed."
"Fortinet FortiSandbox can improve by decreasing the time of analysis response. Other solutions have a better response time, such as WildFire."
"The delivery feature in my country is extremely bad."
"The product is good but it could be speedier. In addition, it's quite complex."
"I don't know if it is viable to do an improvement like this. When there are passwords in the password-protected files, it can't scan them or do things like this. I don't know if an algorithm or something else could make it better. Nowadays, many legitimate office documents have passwords."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The price of the solution is reasonable compared to competitors."
"Pricing for ESET Endpoint Security could be lower because here in Hungary, it's expensive."
"Its price is reasonable."
"The price of the solution is reasonable compared to the other products out there. It is definitely in line with the competition."
"There is a license needed to use the solution and the price depends on the features you want to use. The overall price is reasonable."
"The solution's license is moderately priced."
"The cost of the solution is hard to justify even if the EDR operates well."
"It is just under $20 a user per year, and there are no additional costs. I would rate it a five out of five in terms of pricing."
"Fortinet is more reasonable than Palo Alto."
"I rate the product's pricing a five or six on a scale of one to ten, where one is low, and ten is high."
"The license for Fortinet FortiSandbox depends on the use case."
"The solution is affordable."
"There are additional costs, which isn't included in the licensing fee."
"Altogether, it is about €10,000 for the Sandbox and Email Gateway."
"We are on an annual license to use the solution. We have an additional feature that is integrated with S5, which is working well."
"Fortinet FortiSandbox is a nominally priced product, so I would not say that it is a very cheap tool."
