Enhance secure remote access with feature-rich VPN and content filtering
We mainly use FortiClient as a VPN client. Additionally, we use it for anti-malware, anti-spam, and as a content filter. When a user is outside the company, we can use FortiClient as a content filter to control the sites the user can access FortiClient has improved our security posture by…

Effortless to use and is one of the easiest products to deploy
Huntress is effortless to use. It's one of the easiest products to deploy. Pushing out through our RMM is simple, and using it is straightforward once it's on a machine. The end user doesn't have to do anything. Everything comes back to us. I love that the alerts are human-curated. They take a look at alerts before we get them. Other products are very noisy. They'll send you an alert about anything. About 95 percent of those alerts go to Huntress first. They check to make sure that it's real and only alert us if it's actionable, something that requires our attention. When I get an alert from Huntress, it must be looked at. I love that. It saves a ton of time for my people. It can fix low-severity threats. Their team is 24/7, whereas my team is not. We want them to take action on known bad things. Sometimes, that means fixing the problem or isolating the machine so multiple machines aren't getting hit. I love that they can address those issues within a very short time.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The connection speed is fast. I can connect quickly at any time, and there are never any interruptions to the FortiClient connection. I could easily code into the client's server with that connection, with no lag."
"The service is centralized."
"Installation was easy."
"Compared to other similar solutions, it is faster in connecting."
"It is very simple to use. I've used some of the others in the past, such as Cisco AnyConnect, which was a nightmare. I've used a couple of others, but FortiClient is very simple to use."
"Fortinet FortiClient is not disruptive, and its interface is great. It has an in-built VPN, which is very useful."
"The solution's most valuable feature is its integration capabilities. The processing is fast and the reporting is also very good."
"The initial setup of this solution is easy."
"Users usually note improvements in a matter of days. In others, it is immediately. It varies according to the environment."
"The solution's most valuable feature is that it has a manned security operation center, not AI-driven."
"I have found it valuable that this solution is always there and always armed."
"It is incredibly efficient for our engineering team because Huntress provides all the information needed to fix issues, not just flag them."
"Huntress helps by highlighting potential issues, allowing us to take proactive measures."
"The EDR tools are the most beneficial. We protect all our clients' endpoints through their security operation center, which runs through the EDR. We like that it's a small installation that doesn't take up much processing space, and we can quickly install it on our machines. We push out the agents automatically and get everybody up and running quickly."
"The most valuable aspect of Huntress is its ability to isolate legacy systems from the network, preventing the spread of threats."
"Foothold detection is a valuable feature, acting as a valuable second set of eyes for both us and our clients."

Cons

"The deployment status is not good in Mac devices and sometimes in Windows-based devices using GPO, like Active Directory, that are not on the local network."
"With Fortinet, some clients have to wait two to four days for a response. That is the biggest complaint from end customer about Fortinet's technical support."
"The features for application control and device control must be improved."
"Compatibility issues between different versions."
"There are compatibility issues, and sometimes, especially with macOS, it's difficult to set up properly."
"More integration would be beneficial."
"It would be extremely useful to have an automatic updating feature."
"The tool is expensive."
"The application control system could benefit from improvements in identifying and managing both whitelisted and blacklisted applications."
"One area for improvement in Huntress would be to allow for PSA integration from a specific IP address or hostname for better security measures."
"It would be ideal if they could create some incentives to help more partners get clients to onboard it."
"I would like the API to be a little better. They are getting there."
"The integration with our RMM could be better."
"Not every time, but sometimes when we click on the remediation, the auto-resolution of the alert, the screen gets stuck, and I need to contact support so they can confirm the remediation was applied, and they have to close the ticket."
"I'd like it if Huntress could scan for software that's out of date or has open vulnerabilities. That would be useful for us. Scanning for vulnerable software would be helpful. Also, we've set it up to create a ticket in our ticketing system when there's an alert. It would be nice if closing that ticket would also close the Huntress alert. It doesn't do that right now, but they're working on adding that feature."
"The Huntress is not a standalone solution. It really needs to be used with something else such as Microsoft Defender or another antivirus solution. It would be nice to see the product fleshed out by the Huntress team and include the antivirus solution part as well. I want it to be a full-fledged XDR product. It would push the tool to a higher price range but it would be nice to see the fleshed out features. I want them to integrate more features from the XDR realm."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The price is reasonable compared to competitors, it is very good."
"We are using the free version of this product."
"Fortinet FortiClient comes free with the purchase of the FortiGate solution. There is a license required for this solution. You later can upgrade from the free version which will allow more endpoints. The cost of the license subscription is based on how many endpoints you require."
"The solution is more cost efficient than Cisco, as FortiGate tends not to charge for the client license, which allows one to make free use of whatever is supported on the device."
"It is not that expensive. It was within the range. A dollar per user per month is nothing."
"The pricing is good because you get and end-to-end security solution in one package price."
"The cost per port is very less as compared to the other technologies."
"Licensing was free up to ten users and after that, it was pretty reasonable."
"The tool’s price is very good. You just need to pay for the standard license. However, you need to pay the additional cost for Microsoft Defender."
"It is simple. It is reasonable. They raised my prices this year. We never like price increases, but they continue to add value, so we just keep adding agents as we grow and as our clients grow."
"Huntress is priced fairly for the services and value it provides."
"The Huntress pricing is an excellent value for what the product provides."
"It works well for an MSP."
"The pricing model for Huntress is similar to competitors and is charged per endpoint."
"While other options have emerged since Huntress' arrival, I believe it still offers the best value for the features and services it provides."
"I rate the product pricing six out of ten for the Malaysian market. However, I would rate it a three out of ten for the Australian, New Zealand, or Singapore markets."
