Collects valuable endpoint data with good analytics and helpful scalability
This is a question for the partners who implement and install it. I am not involved in the implementation process, so I cannot suggest improvements. As mentioned, this is a query for my presales team, not me. I am part of the security team lead, focusing mainly on sales. Regarding the product, Fortinet could consider reducing the minimum order quantity for EDR, currently set at 500 pieces. In smaller markets like Serbia, Bosnia, Montenegro, and Slovenia, it can be challenging to find customers with 500 endpoints. My suggestion to Fortinet would be to lower this minimum order quantity to one.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Additionally, when it comes to EDR, there are more tools available to assist with client work."
"The solution acts like an advanced antivirus with extended features like logging and automated response to detected threats. This automation helps save time, as the system automatically handles malicious detections and responses without much manual configuration."
"It notifies us if there's any suspicious file on any PC. If any execution or similar kind of thing is happening, it just alerts us. It doesn't only alert. It also blocks the execution until we allow it. We check whether the execution is legitimate or not, and then approve it or keep it blocked. This gives us a little bit of control over this mechanism. Fortinet FortiEDR is also very straightforward and easy to maintain."
"It is a scalable solution...The initial setup of Fortinet FortiEDR was straightforward."
"Having all monitoring, response, tracking, and mitigation tools in one dashboard provides our analysts and SOC team with a comprehensive view at a glance."
"The most valuable feature is the analysis, because of the beta structure."
"The main thing is that I feel safe. Because the processes that have been used to get a handle on the attackers are much better than other competitors"
"The data collected from the endpoint where the EDR is installed is highly valuable for me."
"I like the tool’s response to malware and trojans."
"It is easy to manage."
"EDR's most valuable feature is its basic protection from malware and viruses."
"The pricing is decent."
"The content filtering options are good."
"It is a scalable solution...It is a stable solution."
"My impression of the stability of this solution is good. We have not had any issues with stability."
"The integration with our hypervisor is quite smooth, especially within the Kaspersky Enterprise environment. We have many virtual machines, and the integration is helpful."

Cons

"I did face some challenges using Fortinet FortiEDR, especially in the Mac environment. While the detections work well in Windows, Mac has limitations. If I need to configure something in the Mac environment, I have to open a support ticket because I can't do it myself; the support team has to apply the configurations on the backend."
"Making the portal mobile friendly would be helpful when I am out of office."
"I would like the solution to extend beyond endpoint protection and include other attack surfaces such as other network components."
"The SIEM could be improved."
"Integration with Azure and SaaS provisioning tools could improve Fortinet FortiEDR."
"To improve Fortinet, we need to see more features and technology areas at the endpoint level introduced."
"FortiEDR can be improved by providing more detailed reporting."
"The amount of usage, the number of details we get, or the number of options that can be tweaked is limited in comparison to that with other EDR solutions"
"Device control is lacking in EDR."
"Kaspersky EDR lacks protection from recent ransomware."
"The solution could always be more secure."
"An area for improvement in Kaspersky Endpoint Detection and Response is its technical support because currently, technical support is delayed."
"There is a problem with the solution, it came from Russia and we are looking for a replacement."
"They could provide a source of visualization for the product."
"They should include XDR features in the solution."
"Kaspersky EDR currently has limited OS support. They only focus on Windows Server and Windows. Kaspersky recently released a Linux version, but it's rudimentary. It does not have any advanced features available on Windows platforms. They should increase their footprint on the Linux side and support other operating systems on the market, like MacOS."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"There are no issues with the pricing."
"Fortinet FortiEDR has a yearly subscription."
"I'm not familiar with pricing, but it looks a bit costly compared to other vendors I think."

"The solution's cost is reasonable compared to other vendors."
"If one is cheap, ten is expensive, I rate the product’s price as a seven out of ten, especially if I compare it with CrowdStrike."
"Kaspersky's pricing is very competitive when it comes to comparison with the other solutions."
"Endpoint's pricing is good, especially compared to expensive solutions like Sophos."
"We have been satisfied with the license of the solution."
"EDR is priced on the cheaper side. Licensing for EDR is available on a yearly basis for around 80 SAR a year."
