We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Customer Service

Sentiment score
8.8
Users generally find Fortinet FortiGate Cloud's support satisfactory, praising knowledgeable teams despite occasional slow response and language challenges.
Sentiment score
7.4
Fortinet FortiManager's support is satisfactory but challenged by slow responses and varying technician expertise, needing regional improvement.
If you are specific, you'll be able to go straight through to the correct level of support.
They provide extra support for partners and they provide us with great reports.
Technical support is not the greatest. L1 support works exclusively by script, sometimes not even looking at the case to see that the info they subsequently request is already included in the initial info provided when the case was opened.
After that, I was allowed to work with another engineer who was very good. He was very good both technically and his methods.
We've found them to be very helpful and have been satisfied with their level of support.
We get our support from Fortinet in Belgium, so we can communicate directly with a technician in Belgium.

Room For Improvement

Sentiment score
4.6
Fortinet FortiGate Cloud needs better integration, usability, security, performance reliability, and reduced costs as highlighted by user challenges.
Sentiment score
4.3
Fortinet FortiManager needs better documentation, support, stability, integration, and performance, especially in configurations, GUI, and monitoring.
We need some integration or communication between the endpoint and the firewall.
We want to consolidate all our firewalls into one portal so we can monitor all the activities from all the firewalls.
There's a need to improve or invest more in an application that can follow users wherever they go.
There are many features that are not mentioned in the documentation.
If I'm defining a subnet, I need to define it in two different locations.
Instead of paying separately and having all of these licenses, it would be nice to centralize everything and maybe reduce the price for a bundle.

Scalability Issues

Sentiment score
8.2
Fortinet FortiGate Cloud is praised for scalability and integration but may require hardware upgrades for extensive scaling.
Sentiment score
7.7
Fortinet FortiManager is highly scalable for managing many devices, though costs can rise with increased scalability needs.
The limitation is on the hardware, which will eventually have to go once installation becomes completely virtual.
I have clients that range from 50 users up to 16,000 on this product.
If we needed to expand it, I have no doubt it would be relatively easy.
We can add a new instance of FortiGate with a simple click.
If they have, for example, 50 devices and suddenly need 100, they just need to scale up.
It has been designed for a large environment.

Setup Cost

Sentiment score
7.9
Fortinet FortiGate Cloud offers value despite starting at $1,000, with mixed pricing perceptions and appreciated flexible scaling options.
Sentiment score
6.3
Fortinet FortiManager is competitively priced, scalable for large deployments, with varying perceptions on costs and additional feature fees.
The cost of the solution was approximately $800 per year.
There's extra pricing for the UTM and the hardware cost.
Unlike other firewalls, the cost of Fortinet FortiGate is low, and the functionality is nearly identical, which is why we chose it.
Fortinet products are the least expensive on the market in the category of firewalls.
Although there is a cost associated with Fortinet FortiManager, its price is undoubtedly justified by the value it provides in terms of the purpose it serves.
It isn't like other solutions where you need to pay for SD-WAN or additional bandwidth.

Cost-effective platform with valuable security management functionality
I use the product as a security and networking gateway. I have deployed instances in Azure and AWS as virtual appliances, and my main use cases are for connecting VPNs, routing, and securing connections between the outside and inside of the environment The platform's most helpful features for…

Easy to set up with good integration capabilities but we've had troubles when moving devices
We've faced an issue when we need to move devices. Templates need to be recreated instead of having the policies, et cetera, cut and pasted over. Everything should just move over when we need to move devices instead of recreating everything from scratch. For the IPSEC tunnels, Fortimanager doesn't have all of the features that are available on Fortigate.
