Offers reliable log retention and monitoring with prompt customer support
Fortinet FortiPortal ( /products/fortinet-fortiportal-reviews )'s most valuable feature as a free service is the log retention for at least seven days. It is useful for our service-providing company as I manage many clients and need reminders for UTM license expiries. The service comes bundled when buying licenses, providing these features for free. Fortinet cloud also allows for basic management such as monitoring expiries and storing logs from devices for a week if configured correctly.

Centralized monitoring enhances control while seeking greater flexibility and rapid response
I am still working for Lotus. We work with Palo Alto three series, Panorama, and Firewall Banu, specifically Firewall three series and five series I find this solution valuable for full monitoring, centralized control for reporting, and centralized management. These features are instrumental in…

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The documentation has been satisfactory."
"I like the tool's controller facility."
"The most valuable feature of this solution is application control."
"I am very comfortable with it, including it's reporting on threats and through its activities."
"Everything works perfectly, and stability has not been an issue."
"The role-based access controls give us granular control over what features to present to a customer, and the integration into FortiAnalyzer is the most valuable feature."
"From a scalability perspective, I found the solution to be completely fine...The solution's technical support is absolutely fine."
"I like the product's asset management which gives clear hardware details."
"Overall, the functionality was very good."
"We use the solution for centralized monitoring."
"Managing the firewalls in the branch locations from a central management console is easier."
"The main value of Palo Alto Networks Panorama lies in its ability to centralize management, similar to FortiManager."
"I find this solution valuable for full monitoring, centralized control for reporting, and centralized management."
"It's helpful that the solution allows us to control all the firewalls from one device."
"Technical support is helpful and knowledgeable."
"It is great that the records go back to 30 days."

Cons

"The solution is more expensive than other products."
"The tool should provide a 10-15 days extension for customers when their license expires."
"It's useful for us but if it had more educational reporting, it would good. It's not necessarily lacking but it's an area that could get better."
"I find their logging a little bit trickier to manage. The logging of events is broken up into a lot of different categories. Instead of breaking up my logs into several different places, I personally like to have all the events in one spot and then filter them down. In particular, I find that troubleshooting on Fortinet takes a little bit longer just because of those functional breakups in the logs."
"If you are a very small company or a person on your own, it's harder to get any response from technical support."
"The only complaint about Fortinet FortiPortal is the need for frequent firmware upgrades, as it requires constant updating due to potential security vulnerabilities."
"The product must have in-built SD-WAN connectivity."
"There can be defects in Fortinet FortiPortal when functioning at high temperatures."
"In the future, it would be beneficial if Panorama could include a firewall assurance feature similar to Skybox."
"There is room for improvement in the graphical user interface (GUI), which is becoming outdated, especially the NAT section."
"Price is probably one of the biggest things that we struggle with, specifically with Palo, and that's across their whole portfolio."
"It is very hard to understand the platform. It is not easy and user-friendly. You need a lot of experience to use Panorama. It is very complex, and you must know exactly what to do. I would like to have a more user-friendly product. FortiManager is comparatively very easy to use. It would be good if Panorama improves in terms of user-friendliness. It is also harder to use than Palo Alto Firewalls."
"In our version, there is no feature to transfer or upload a database of third-party vulnerabilities or signatures so that Panorama can convert them into its own database. This kind of feature might already have come in version 10."
"Its UI and usability could be improved. The way the UI looks could be improved to make it a little bit more intuitive. Other than that, it is a pretty simple product."
"The integration between Strata Cloud Manager and Panorama could be enhanced to allow customers to stay on Panorama for many years while still utilizing Strata Cloud Manager for deployment."
"The integration between Strata Cloud Manager and Panorama could be enhanced to allow customers to stay on Panorama for many years while still utilizing Strata Cloud Manager for deployment."

"The pricing is considered a little bit expensive, but depending on the client, it's worth it."
"We have a yearly license. The cost is not that high and not that cheap either."
