Allows us to set maintenance windows and deliver patches
We can set a maintenance window and push the patch. I prefer writing scripts, doing software deployment, pushing it, and distributing applications in servers for the corner of the whole location. We download patches from Ivanti, and it collaborates with more than 700 products. For third-party applications, we download the patches, set a role in our environment, and push it using the maintenance window time and activation date. For software deployment, we receive the service request to install and prepare scripts and then push it in many locations according and relevant to the service request for each location. The group or collection devices are affected by the policy.

Helpful for IT asset management and offer a good dashboard
I like the KACE software dashboard so much! It's convenient. I don't need to know technical details like file formats (PDF or whatever) for installation, even for applications like Adobe. Here's how I use it: Let's say I have a license for Adobe and I need to install it on a computer named Julian. I simply open a case, enter the name of the application (Adobe), open the dashboard, and search for the computer named Julian. Once I select the computer, it shows up in the dashboard. Now, in the same case, I can open a large batch of software, select the application (Adobe Acrobat again), and choose the computer named Julian. KACE then deploys the application with minimal errors, usually within one or two minutes. Julian even receives a notification on their computer that the installation process has begun. It's fantastic! Moreover, it helped so much streamline our IT asset management and inventory. Sometimes someone changes the computer assigned to someone else. For example, Juliano had a computer, and then Matos changed it to his own use. I wouldn't know about this change if it weren't for KACE. KACE automatically tracks this information and saves it for me, allowing me to call it up on the dashboard. For example, if I need to find Juliano's computer in the system, I don't need to search through endless spreadsheets. I just search for "Juliano" in KACE. KACE also lists other details like the last login user. So, if I see "Juliano" on KACE but a different user is logged in, that tells me something might be wrong. I find this functionality very helpful for IT asset management.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"We use the solution for security patching of Windows devices."
"The most valuable features are device management and support for upgrading applications."
"The solution is a good product and I have heard that the interface is more friendly than that of Windows."
"It is very easy to use, as well as extremely efficient and accurate."
"I like the product's Peer to Peer patching feature."
"Both in terms of features and operations, this is a good solution."
"We can set a maintenance window and push the patch."
"Ivanti Patch's most valuable features are the patch module and the package distribution."
"The Systems Deployment Appliance is magical when it comes to automating deployment... Not only can we have multiple images, specific to end-users' uses, but we have a plethora of post-installation tasks to install or configure the system, tasks that can be re-used for each system. You just have one basic base image, and then you use the post-install tasks to customize everything else. It is amazing."
"The software asset management has been a big help, even when it comes to license true-ups. I can use it to find out how many Tivoli we have, and boom, there's the number... And you can actually click on the information about the software and it shows, for example, that these five servers are where it's being reported. If you really want, you can log in to them and validate."
"It is excellent in terms of updating and configuring everything the way we need. For anything more complex, we do professional service engagements, and they're exceptional. For anything less complex, we just need to ask questions. Their support division is extremely good too."
"The most valuable feature of KACE is the mass package deployment. There are a lot of endpoint management solutions in the market. The way KACE responds is with the installation management feature, which is done in a very intelligent way, as well as scripting. It's wow. It's really wow. On top of that, there is a mass undeployment feature as well."
"We can get the majority of what we need with this product and do not have to spend money on something else."
"Patching is definitely the most valuable feature. It gives us good, centralized software, which comes in very handy since we are doing 400 servers at a time. It enables us to manage all the servers, and to deal with the application team regarding reboots and scheduling."
"The big pros of Quest KACE Systems Management are its simple interface, and simple, direct management. It's very easy to maintain and manage the device, and it's easy to get it up and running. You can have it up and running in an hour..."
"Asset management is most valuable. It is essential for all customers. The other features are also useful, but asset management is most important."

Cons

"It's a difficult configuration because you need to install many servers in a location, and you have to install the primary server in the main location."
"I tried to be a partner of Ivanti and, from this vantage point, the quotes are, perhaps, a bit high."
"There are times when there is an update that causes some issues. These issues should be sorted out before the release."
"The reports have to show the compliance level of the patching, which Ivanti does not provide."
"The product's support and configuration need to improve. It needs to be more scalable."
"Ivanti Neurons Patch for Intune needs to improve stability. We had issues with patching."
"I would like to have better support for the application."
"Customers sometimes ask about non-existent features, and we pass these requests on to Ivanti."
"There may be a good reason why some things are not easily able to be done, yet it needs work to compete with some of the other ticketing systems out there now."
"What could be improved is the possibility to use replicas in a secure way outside our network in order to maintain the machines that never connect to our corporate network."
"My biggest complaint is that almost every time they send out a new version, it fixes something and breaks another. Something that wasn't working in the last version now works, but something else stops; or they'll remove some dashboard that I really found to be nice and replace it with something totally different that I could care less about."
"It took a little bit of time to figure out how to use the KACE Service Desk. I like the way that I'm able to customize it. But when it comes to how our techs are able to use it, it's not as functional as our current solution, which is BMC FootPrints Service Desk."
"The solution needs to have the ability to push out managed feature updates from Microsoft in a more seamless way."
"When we have to do a rebuild on these machines, although it is rare, I would like to be able to do more than 10 at a time. With the current limit, it slows me down because I have to set up 10, then the next 10, and so forth."
"The GUI needs some work. I love all that it can do, however, it can be just be so cluttered at times."
"Its dashboard needs improvement. Currently, there is no way to modify the dashboard. There should be more flexibility so that we can create views according to our use case."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"While the price is a bit high, it may be equitable with the features one gets with the product, such as that involving the interface."
"For the one that works with SCCM, it is relatively inexpensive at $8 USD per node, yearly. The standalone product has two versions; the one that patches servers is about $45 USD annually and the version that patches workstations is about half that price at $22 USD."
"The solution is affordable."
"The solution is expensive compared to other products."
"The license can get expensive if you have a lot of nodes."
"We buy consulting fees from Software Factory, then we pay extra for it."
"The pricing and licensing are good. It's worth it."
"It is expensive in Brazil."
"It may be more expensive, but you get what you pay for."
"It was a very attractive price. This is a huge feature of this product. If you would "credit score" this product versus others out there on the market, this one has a very attractive price."
"n terms of pricing and licensing, my advice is that you need to assess what you need and then look at what they offer. It's easy to get caught up in the things that you want, but don't really need."
"Their pricing is per end-point device. There is an initial cost for the license for the server, which is pretty low, and then there is a per end-point device license, which is also fairly low. So, the pricing is still reasonable."
"Licensing is very straightforward. They don't overcomplicate it. This is not a Cisco product where you have to have 30 different licenses just to open the box. It's pretty much set-and-forget. You pay an annual license... The cost is in the mid to upper range, but the ROI exceeds the outside cost, especially once you've had the system for a while."
