A good legacy solution that is reliable and has good support
We haven't done any implementation in the last ten years. That said, we did upgrade it in 2017-16 to the latest version and it was quite okay. It was complex yet not too much. I'd rate it three and a half out of five in terms of ease of setup.

Centralizes our enterprise-wide functions but could benefit from cloud migration
We have dealt with customer service, and it was awful. For a system this size, it felt like we were merely buying software from them. They weren't really partnered with us on it. Reporting bugs and getting feedback, as well as having engineers work on issues, was very transactional. There was no real ownership on Oracle's part. During several support cases, it became difficult to determine ownership at Oracle and get status updates. The on-premises Oracle support is not great in my experience, and I think this is true in the industry. We've read about their software as a solution, and theoretically, their SaaS portal support is a lot better.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The solution's UI is user friendly and has good performance and good search facility."
"Menu creation is easier now."
"I like that JD Edwards World is perfect for my use cases, but what I like best about it is its navigation."
"I think JDE ERP is very flexible and very convenient for the users. I think EnterpriseOne is more convenient for users to do the inquiry and do the data entry. The UI is better than JDE World. For JDE products, including the World version, is very flexible. It's a good product for clients."
"It has worked fine for many years."
"We've found the initial setup to be easy."
"The most valuable feature of JD Edwards World is its ease of use and unique functions."
"The ease of use is consistently there."
"The initial setup is easy."
"The most valuable features are the financial-related capabilities."
"The system is reliable and the backbone of financial and other core systems in many organizations worldwide."
"The supplier invoice payment process is very easy and is integrated from the requisition to the payment (and to creating the asset)."
"EBS has lots of application families and lots of features. It is modular in deployment and flexible enough to let the customer increase the built-in capabilities and enable new applications when needed. These are very important things at hand in case there will be a need to expand the product capabilities and/or implement new projects."
"I think one of the best use cases is centralizing supplier and customer data into our finance system. We identified there were so many duplicate suppliers and customers and so a lot of time was spent reporting."
"Valuable features include expense management and the accounting suite of products."
"Financial reconciliation and reporting."

Cons

"Its end of life is already announced, so I don't expect lots of improvement coming from the product anywhere anymore."
"I would like report creation to be easier."
"I have more than 18 years of JDE experience in JDE EnterpriseOne and World versions. I think JDE is good but compared to SAP and Oracle EPS, we can see which area needs to have some improvement for JDE."
"There is no support from Oracle here. We only have third-party support."
"Improvements are needed in transitioning JD Edwards World to a more stable and reliable cloud product, particularly in terms of GDPR and data privacy compliance."
"The integration technology could be stronger at this point."
"World is old, so everybody is looking to just upgrade or migrate from it."
"Update interface capabilities and data maintenance tools to modern standards."
"I would like an end-to-end in terms of processes. There are different modules, however, there's not that end-to-end that we are looking for in terms of process automation."
"I would rate the support for Oracle E-Business Suite a four out of five."
"Oracle E-Business Suite is a bit outdated because it's been developed more than ten years ago, and this is an area for improvement. My team is still getting used to the solution, so there could still be some features that have not been enabled or features my team isn't aware of yet. There have been issues with the Treasury module of Oracle E-Business Suite, so this is another area for improvement. My company hasn't decided yet on whether to implement the Treasury module or just go with another solution. Another room for improvement in Oracle E-Business Suite is the design, as it needs to be optimized based on usage patterns. What I'd like added in the next release of Oracle E-Business Suite is the time attribute. The solution still has dashboards being rolled out, so the time attribute could already be there or is still in the process of implementation. I also didn't find much use for the Projects module based on my company's requirements. The integration of Oracle E-Business Suite with the rest of the Oracle tools isn't very tight as well, but it could be because of customizations here in India, where the integrations work seamlessly everywhere, except in India. You'll find gaps because of customizations in India which are very, very irritating. For example, if a procurement is moving in the system then all the data has to move from one module to the other, but in the Oracle E-Business Suite Procurement module, you'll notice breaks or gaps that require you to manually transfer that data, so I'd like this improved in the next release of the solution."
"The implementation can take quite a bit of time."
"We expect Oracle to go into continuous innovation mode and provide simplified integration solutions."
"It's more expensive than other options due to licensing costs and core-based hardware."
"E-Business Suite's user experience and interface could be improved."
"The issue of frequently applying patches and updates to fix bugs. Oracle should improve upon this issue, especially since it happens too frequently."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The pricing for JD Edwards World could be more affordable."
"The price of JD Edwards World is reasonable. Since it is a legacy solution the price has been reduced."
"You have to pay for a license, and the license cost is calculated based on the number of users you have."
"Oracle generally gives a lot of discounts."
"Licensing and costing of Oracle EBS is very complex. We recommend to use a system integrator during the negotiation process since Oracle sales representatives sometime do not know the actual minimum requirements and may oversell the necessary licenses through ignorance."
"Oracle E-Business Suite is heavy subscriptions based and the solution's upgrades, under the technology licensing, are quite costly. Additionally, support is an extra cost. The price of the solution could be reduced."
"This is a highly-priced application and would not be affordable for small or medium business domains."
"It's quite expensive, even though they gave us a discount."
"Pricing for Oracle E-Business Suite is seven out of ten. You must pay extra for maintenance and technical support, apart from standard license fees."
"We pay about $300 a year in order to license the solution."
"At our various customers, the software tends to pay for itself in less than two years."
