Users can easily deploy and manage it
The solution's most valuable feature is that it is simple to deploy and manage. I can't say what features of the tool I like since it is very much a deploy-and-forget product. We don't use any advanced features of the tool in my company. The tool's recovery options are good, especially since it integrates with Active Directory, making everything a simple process. The product's integration capabilities are good.

The primary function of it is to back it up off-site so that if you ever have any kind of data corruption, data loss, that you can easily recover that data.
They have done some drastic improvements just in the last year that have really met a lot of our needs. Being able to sync between computers was a big one; the ability to administer it through a web portal, that was a big thing; and it's all in Connected MX now. At the moment, I don't have anything that I would ask the product manager to add to it, because he's done a really good job of getting it to where it's at right now. Nonetheless, one thing they could do better on is knowledge and education about it. Nobody knows about it, and I feel that everybody needs it, they just don't know it.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The hard drive encryption is very good."
"Technical support is excellent."
"Integration with System Center Configuration Manager (C: and D: logical drives are encrypted before installing Windows via SCCM)."
"It is free and native to the OS. We don't have to worry about upgrades or maintaining the product. You encrypt the disk, and you save the recovery key. That's it. The person puts their password in, and after that, it is up to them. If they forget their password, they have to bring it in to get it unlocked."
"Whole Disk Encryption is great. BitLocker runs seamlessly during boot up."
"Microsoft BitLocker's most valuable features are stability and simplicity in terms of usage."
"The tool has improved the starting up of our notebooks and end-user devices."
"Feature-wise we have the ability to encrypt fast."
"The integration features are the most valuable. The integration is specific to each solution. It works well with SQL and Oracle databases and so on."

Cons

"I often have to make multiple attempts to log in."
"They could improve cloud integration regarding attribute and encryption key management."
"The solution could be improved if it was more user friendly."
"The reporting in Microsoft is very minimal."
"Microsoft BitLocker needs to be an all-inclusive solution. For example, a Trusted Platform Module (TPM) cryptoprocessor is required to use Bitlocker with your computer which keeps Bitlocker from adoption beyond Windows."
"I would like to see improvement in the solution's central management of passwords. Currently, we install it separately."
"If the encryption was faster then it would make the experience more pleasant."
"The console GUI could be better."
"On the exchange server, you do not have the best options for adjusting your mailbox. This feature is not included. Also, disaster recovery backups can be improved. Some other solutions, such as HP Data Protector, have more features."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The solution is expensive."
"It's not about pricing, because we are working with Enterprise companies that already have Windows Enterprise, so BitLocker comes already included as a Windows feature. It's free for Enterprise users. The price is only for deployment. The customer will pay for McAfee, however."
"Microsoft BitLocker's pricing is fair; I rate it a four out of ten."
"It operates on a subscription model on an annual basis."
"For reasons unknown, Microsoft products seem to be getting more expensive."
"Microsoft BitLocker is a free feature when you are using Microsoft solutions."
"We can activate the product at no cost."
"We already use Microsoft products, and Microsoft BitLocker is an add-on product that is free of cost for us."
