Data protection improves while users adapt to user access complexities
Recovery options are useful with Microsoft BitLocker. When we get the recovery key from Microsoft, people who we show how BitLocker works did not know the facts about BitLocker. When we tell them about recovery keys, it is very difficult for them to get to the users who have issues in their PCs and do not have the knowledge. When IT asked about the scenario, it was difficult for them. They needed something where they could go to the administration portal to unlock the PC for the user, but we tell them that when a user asks for a recovery key, it consists of 32 numbers to unlock their PC. They observed cost savings after implementing Microsoft BitLocker because they requested BitLocker with System Center. They found that it did not have a high cost, as it is a built-in feature in Windows. When they asked about other solutions, it was very expensive for large numbers in other corporates or organizations. They were very satisfied with Microsoft BitLocker with System Center Configuration Manager.

A backup solution that offers very good integration at a good price
We primarily use the solution as a backup for our entire environment.  The integration features are the most valuable. The integration is specific to each solution. It works well with SQL and Oracle databases and so on. On the exchange server, you do not have the best options for adjusting your…

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"It's a straightforward solution for encryption."
"The platform provides good performance."
"I liked the way it works with our Microsoft tools. As we roll out Intune, we can validate if the device has been encrypted, and if not, we can push it down. It is pretty simple to deploy."
"Microsoft BitLocker's most valuable feature is endpoint encryption, and it's quite easy to manage."
"While it helps mitigate unauthorized data access by enhancing file and system protection through encryption, the tool is really enhanced with the combination of other Microsoft Security and Compliance features like data labeling."
"The solution works the way it's supposed to - stability and scalability are fine."
"The most valuable feature is the TPM (Trusted Platform Module), which makes the PC security stronger because somebody who is not from the team cannot access the PC without the decryption PIN."
"Whole Disk Encryption is great. BitLocker runs seamlessly during boot up."
"The integration features are the most valuable. The integration is specific to each solution. It works well with SQL and Oracle databases and so on."

Cons

"The solution needs to have better protection and improve its pricing."
"The biggest one for us is revoking access. So, even though someone downloads something to a device, we want the ability to cloak that device or data and bring it back or make that data unusable for that person. Currently, BitLocker doesn't give us that ability. It basically encrypts it. We're seeing if identity management or IAM allows us to do that. We're kind of looking at third-party software that does that for us."
"More customization options would have been nice, such as password selection, actions when the screen is locked, etc."
"The management of the product could be made a little easier."
"I often have to make multiple attempts to log in."
"The integration between Active Directory and BitLocker could be better."
"BitLocker should be available on standard Windows. We need to spend money on a Pro license to get BitLocker because it's essential to protect our customers' data. We don't want that to fall into the wrong hands."
"The people at the first level of support refer you to articles that do not pertain to the problem at hand."
"On the exchange server, you do not have the best options for adjusting your mailbox. This feature is not included. Also, disaster recovery backups can be improved. Some other solutions, such as HP Data Protector, have more features."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"I think it's reasonably priced because I've never heard any complaints from my company about its costs."
"It is a totally free solution."
"The cost of this solution is bundled in with part of the subscription for the Microsoft Cloud. We have users subscribed to Enterprise E5 and it comes with E5"
"The price of this solution should be more competitive."
"We already use Microsoft products, and Microsoft BitLocker is an add-on product that is free of cost for us."
"On a scale from one to ten, where one is expensive and ten is cheap, I rate the solution's pricing an eight out of ten."
"Microsoft BitLocker is a free feature when you are using Microsoft solutions."
"This solution is included with Microsoft Server and my clients did not have to pay for anything extra."
