Users can easily deploy and manage it
The solution's most valuable feature is that it is simple to deploy and manage. I can't say what features of the tool I like since it is very much a deploy-and-forget product. We don't use any advanced features of the tool in my company. The tool's recovery options are good, especially since it integrates with Active Directory, making everything a simple process. The product's integration capabilities are good.

The primary function of it is to back it up off-site so that if you ever have any kind of data corruption, data loss, that you can easily recover that data.
They have done some drastic improvements just in the last year that have really met a lot of our needs. Being able to sync between computers was a big one; the ability to administer it through a web portal, that was a big thing; and it's all in Connected MX now. At the moment, I don't have anything that I would ask the product manager to add to it, because he's done a really good job of getting it to where it's at right now. Nonetheless, one thing they could do better on is knowledge and education about it. Nobody knows about it, and I feel that everybody needs it, they just don't know it.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"While it helps mitigate unauthorized data access by enhancing file and system protection through encryption, the tool is really enhanced with the combination of other Microsoft Security and Compliance features like data labeling."
"Microsoft BitLocker is a Microsoft native product that provides good encryption."
"Feature-wise we have the ability to encrypt fast."
"Technical support is excellent."
"Being able to encrypt an entire hard disk has been most valuable."
"It is easy to use. It is usually easy to recover someone's privacy. The manageability is much easier than McAfee. I think that Microsoft is a leader in this area. We are in the Microsoft school so our judgment of McAfee will be a little bit unfair as we recommend Microsoft all the time because of the easy manageability and support. I think that McAfee is designed for a different customer and every time we open a ticket with their support, it takes a very, very long time. The main difference is just the manageability and support. In terms of the solution itself or the functionality, I know that McAfee is very strong, but manageability and support, for us, is much more important. It's strengthens the solution for us."
"It is easy to use and administer."
"It seemed easy, straightforward, and secure."
"The integration features are the most valuable. The integration is specific to each solution. It works well with SQL and Oracle databases and so on."

Cons

"The solution lacks the ability to allow its user to provide limited access to someone."
"Technical support has not been very good."
"The solution could improve by having a centralized GUI for management."
"There are options which could be implemented to make it a little more like PGP Whole Disk Encryption."
"The reporting in Microsoft is very minimal."
"Some of the technical internal functions, such as encryption protocols or something similar, could be improved."
"In future releases, I would like to see a feature where I can have a view of each device that has BitLocker to see if these machines are encrypted or not. So, I just want a view or a dashboard that can tell us so that I can remediate and add BitLocker to those systems or devices."
"If integration with Active Directory are not mandatory for him, I think that there are many other solutions in the market that equal or are much stronger than Microsoft."
"On the exchange server, you do not have the best options for adjusting your mailbox. This feature is not included. Also, disaster recovery backups can be improved. Some other solutions, such as HP Data Protector, have more features."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"This solution is included with Microsoft Server and my clients did not have to pay for anything extra."
"The solution is cost efficient."
"We can activate the product at no cost."
"I don't know the costs. In terms of Microsoft licensing, we are at E3 on the business, and we're in the process of pricing out and moving to E5. So, a lot of this is included within our licensing agreements."
"We already use Microsoft products, and Microsoft BitLocker is an add-on product that is free of cost for us."
"The tool is cheap compared to the products offered by competitors. If one is cheap and ten is expensive, I rate the tool's price as one."
"On a scale from one to ten, where one is expensive and ten is cheap, I rate the solution's pricing an eight out of ten."
"BitLocker is included in our license and doesn't cost us anything extra."
