Users can easily deploy and manage it
I use the solution in my company for encryption on desktop systems The solution's most valuable feature is that it is simple to deploy and manage. I can't say what features of the tool I like since it is very much a deploy-and-forget product. We don't use any advanced features of the tool in my…

The primary function of it is to back it up off-site so that if you ever have any kind of data corruption, data loss, that you can easily recover that data.
They have done some drastic improvements just in the last year that have really met a lot of our needs. Being able to sync between computers was a big one; the ability to administer it through a web portal, that was a big thing; and it's all in Connected MX now. At the moment, I don't have anything that I would ask the product manager to add to it, because he's done a really good job of getting it to where it's at right now. Nonetheless, one thing they could do better on is knowledge and education about it. Nobody knows about it, and I feel that everybody needs it, they just don't know it.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"It's very straightforward to recover data. It's safe for us; in case of lost information, it provides multiple options to recover the data."
"It is easy to implement and has AD integration."
"The best thing about it is the encryption type and the way it requires TPM when someone tries to access the drive."
"While it helps mitigate unauthorized data access by enhancing file and system protection through encryption, the tool is really enhanced with the combination of other Microsoft Security and Compliance features like data labeling."
"Whole Disk Encryption is great. BitLocker runs seamlessly during boot up."
"The tool has improved the starting up of our notebooks and end-user devices."
"The solution's most valuable feature is that it is simple to deploy and manage."
"Microsoft BitLocker's most valuable feature is endpoint encryption, and it's quite easy to manage."
"The integration features are the most valuable. The integration is specific to each solution. It works well with SQL and Oracle databases and so on."

Cons

"It would be good if Microsoft offered improved recovery options or if it could automate the recovery options a bit."
"It needs a management console."
"The implementation of BitLocker is not simple. There are many prerequisites and hours of study and testing."
"More customization options would have been nice, such as password selection, actions when the screen is locked, etc."
"Technical support has not been very good."
"If the encryption was faster then it would make the experience more pleasant."
"The customizations could be more flexible."
"Microsoft BitLocker needs to be an all-inclusive solution. For example, a Trusted Platform Module (TPM) cryptoprocessor is required to use Bitlocker with your computer which keeps Bitlocker from adoption beyond Windows."
"On the exchange server, you do not have the best options for adjusting your mailbox. This feature is not included. Also, disaster recovery backups can be improved. Some other solutions, such as HP Data Protector, have more features."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"On a scale from one to ten, where one is expensive and ten is cheap, I rate the solution's pricing an eight out of ten."
"BitLocker is already in Windows 10 and its price has already been "paid"."
"This solution is included with Microsoft Server and my clients did not have to pay for anything extra."
"Microsoft BitLocker's pricing is included in the Microsoft license, and you don't have to pay an additional fee for it."
"It is free. It is enabled as part of the operating system. Once you have an operating system license, you're licensed for Bitlocker."
"We already use Microsoft products, and Microsoft BitLocker is an add-on product that is free of cost for us."
"The solution’s pricing is reasonable."
"The solution is cost efficient."
