Project teams have improved collaboration and have delivered complex portfolios on time
The best features Oracle Primavera Portfolio Management offers include a great user experience, as Oracle has invested heavily in user experience. The application is intuitive and user-friendly, and it also includes project budgeting, cost capitalization, expenses, embedded analytics, and data visualizations that come built-in with the software. The embedded analytics and data visualizations in Oracle Primavera Portfolio Management specifically help us make data-driven decisions from the accurate insights gathered from different sources. Oracle Primavera Portfolio Management has positively impacted my organization by increasing predictability. It has brought awareness to the executive level with the ability to integrate with other systems, which is flawless and seamless, thus enhancing collaboration in my organization. We have been able to deliver projects on time to our clients, meeting the deadlines and timelines while also hitting the cost timelines. The use of Oracle Primavera Portfolio Management has increased the odds of timely project delivery through efficient tracking. The software supports mobile and tablets with a modern user interface featuring embedded analytics, enabling project team members to access all their tools and information in our organization. The efficiency of project managers has increased, allowing them to manage multiple projects and thereby lowering the cost by approximately thirty percent.

The best features Planview Portfolios offers are visibility enhancement, robust system performance, and comprehensive resource management. This enhanced visibility in Planview Portfolios ensures that all users can easily track progress, identify bottlenecks, and make informed decisions to optimize workflow efficiency. When discussing robust system performance, the system's robust performance in meeting our various work requirements effectively and efficiently stands out. I also love the financial breakdown, planning and prioritization, and attribute collection on projects in Planview Portfolios. Planview Portfolios has positively impacted my organization since I started using it. It has enabled me to gain insights into the full scope of work consuming resources. I am able to know where the resources are being consumed more, especially which resources are consuming the most. Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The solution's tech support is good."
"Oracle Primavera Portfolio Management provides comprehensive project oversight tools, including project scheduling, resources, resource management, and portfolio oversight functionality, providing a holistic view of projects which helps enable stakeholders to make informed decisions based on real-time data while ensuring timely delivery and efficient resource allocation."
"The ability to streamline the process of obtaining signatures from our contractors is valuable."
"I like Primavera's planning capabilities."
"It is very, very good in planning for large projects."
"The most valuable feature of Oracle Primavera Portfolio Management is accuracy."
"Delay analysis and extension of time claims are some of the key features."
"The integration with Unifier, which is also an Oracle tool, ensures that the data is correct and timely."
"I would say it works really well for forecasting remaining effort, especially in terms of forecasting the dollar amounts. We've gotten pretty good at adjusting rates because we have a lot of contract workers."
"We are able to see where everyone in the team is in terms of hours, where there is capacity, and where we can actually add them, e.g., other projects that they're not currently staffed to."
"I like that the data that we store is available for everybody. We're not trying to hide anything. Being an administrator, I know a lot about the tool. It is very easy to show somebody how to use the tool and get used to it. Hopefully that user doesn't come back and ask the same question twice is really what it is about. It's a very intuitive product as well. For what we use the tool for today, it's easy to learn and pick up."
"The portfolio and technology management are well built."
"We can view a project both at the top level and dig into the particularities. It's given us greater visibility into the work itself."
"The resource management and assignment features are valuable. The timesheet management is also valuable because that is a requirement for us. So, the ability to see timesheet forecasting and timesheet actual submission from resources has been very useful and valuable to us."
"We use expenditures quite a bit. We put in forecast expenditures and then we actualize them below the line in the little box in the bottom tray. Being able to track the project with relevant milestones is also valuable. Milestones are valuable because it helps us to keep the project on track. The expenditures are valuable because we need to be able to understand expenses that are beyond the regular resources in the projects."
"We're still in an early stage. Things will change as we use it more. I did program reports that are important and that will provide us with value."

Cons

"For us in LATAM, the pricing is extremely high. That is why I only work with oil and gas and mining industries because they have substantial budgets."
"The scalability has room for improvement."
"The solution's user interface is an area with shortcomings that need improvement."
"They should work on integrating the solution with ERP."
"One area for improvement for Oracle Primavera Portfolio Management is that printing from the software can be difficult, and some of the views in Oracle Primavera Portfolio Management are hard to adjust."
"The reporting could improve project management. We need multiple source reports. If someone is new to the support it has a steep learning curve."
"Primavera could be better integrated with other products, and it needs more cost management features."
"There is scope for development in integrating with some AI products."
"The technical support is a little overworked. At least, they have been in the past year. We need them to focus on somethings from time to time. You can tell that they're really focusing on many things. It has gotten better, but I think they could still use some relief."
"My experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing reveals that the cost is a bit not affordable for a small organization, but for medium and large enterprises, I would say it is very cost-effective and affordable."
"We had issues with the data rephrasing."
"It is not an end-user-friendly product, and that's really the biggest thing. The hardest or the biggest hurdle I've ever had to face was adoption. I did the installation of the HP product in 2011. The company used it from 2011 to 2015, and the adoption was very high. When I was given the Planview product, adoption was very low. It wasn't as extensively used. We actually had people who wanted to go back to HP PPM because the interface of Planview was so broken, and it still is to some degree. So, it is not user-friendly. It doesn't flow the way a project manager thinks. What we did with HP PPM was a lot more manual programming. It wasn't as nice in terms of the interface, and it wasn't as pretty, but you could design it and build it so that everything flows with the way you worked, but Planview doesn't quite do that. There are a lot of screens. You have to jump back and forth. There are so many different places you have to go to just to do some basic tasks. That's the biggest thing that has really hindered adoption."
"When it comes to reporting there are some challenges with integration."
"One area where Planview Portfolios could be improved is the reporting module, which needs to be more flexible as it is not easy to switch between data representations easily."
"Our challenge will be this tool is complex. It is not necessarily easy to start and learn from the beginning. How do you get people who are not professionals to adopt it, use it, and not be mean about it?"
"Sometimes within the application, when you pull a report, it takes awhile performance-wise for the reports to pull up."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The solution is highly priced compared to one of its competitors."
"My company has made an annual payment towards the costs of the solution. Price-wise, the solution is okay."
"The solution itself is cost-effective."
"Oracle Primavera Portfolio Management is an expensive solution. There is an upfront cost to purchase the solution and then there are annual fees to use the solution."
"Our licensing costs are about a quarter of a million dollars per year."
"We have unlimited licenses for all of our functionalities. Since we went global, we went with that model."
"We are on the Flex licenses."
"We have several hundred licenses. It costs us several hundred thousand dollars a year."
"We recently did a new bundle for all of Enterprise One. It includes some of the newer pieces, like Projectplace and LeanKit. It bundled our CTM in with it as well. I think the total came out to be about $900,000 a year. This is for unlimited licenses."
"We overbought our licenses. We looked at our needs three to four years down the road and tried based our contract on that. However, we were over aggressive. We use about a third of the licenses that we have. We're looking to adjust the makeup so we can start utilizing the amount of money that we are spending. Right now, we're overspending, and my organization is not seeing the value in Planview because we are paying so much for licenses that we're not using."
"Our licensing costs are probably $150,000 to $180,000 a year with 270 licenses total."
"We have portfolio managers, resource managers, project managers, and time reporting licenses. These are the licenses that we have."
