The embedded analytics and data visualizations in Oracle Primavera Portfolio Management specifically help us make data-driven decisions from the accurate insights gathered from different sources. Oracle Primavera Portfolio Management has positively impacted my organization by increasing predictability. It has brought awareness to the executive level with the ability to integrate with other systems, which is flawless and seamless, thus enhancing collaboration in my organization. We have been able to deliver projects on time to our clients, meeting the deadlines and timelines while also hitting the cost timelines. The use of Oracle Primavera Portfolio Management has increased the odds of timely project delivery through efficient tracking. The best features Planview Portfolios offers are visibility enhancement, robust system performance, and comprehensive resource management. This enhanced visibility in Planview Portfolios ensures that all users can easily track progress, identify bottlenecks, and make informed decisions to optimize workflow efficiency. When discussing robust system performance, the system's robust performance in meeting our various work requirements effectively and efficiently stands out. I also love the financial breakdown, planning and prioritization, and attribute collection on projects in Planview Portfolios. Quotes from Members

Pros

"The most valuable features were the cost breakdown structure and work breakdown structure."
"Oracle Primavera Portfolio Management has one of the nice dashboards because it gives the company a clear picture on the way a project is going."
"The most valuable features were the cost breakdown structure and work breakdown structure."
"Oracle Primavera Portfolio Management provides comprehensive project oversight tools, including project scheduling, resources, resource management, and portfolio oversight functionality, providing a holistic view of projects which helps enable stakeholders to make informed decisions based on real-time data while ensuring timely delivery and efficient resource allocation."
"I like Primavera's planning capabilities."
"It is very, very good in planning for large projects."
"Oracle Primavera Portfolio Management has positively impacted my organization by increasing predictability, bringing awareness to the executive level with flawless and seamless integration to other systems, enhancing collaboration, enabling us to deliver projects on time while hitting cost timelines, and increasing project managers' efficiency to manage multiple projects and lower costs by approximately thirty percent."
"Delay analysis and extension of time claims are some of the key features."
"The data is the most valuable because the reporting that we provide out of Planview is priceless when compared to any other tool. The reporting has a variety of reports. It has the capabilities of Power BI. It gives us all these dashboards that we can show to our executive leadership, and they have been very well-received."
"The biggest impact has been getting all these global groups into one space so we can even have intelligent conversations about what are we trying to accomplish. Before, it was just different regions doing whatever. Now, we're all talking the same language, and that's good."
"We do a lot of big projects which are pretty expensive to structure the product development around and see the progress. Every time we start a project, we have to expense the spends for certain amounts. We need some baselines, like predictive versus actual."
"The look and feel of it is pretty clean."
"The portfolio management gives you a view of all the projects as well as all the information about the total amount of effort, time, and cost being spent on the projects. It gives the organization how much money and effort should be spent towards projects so they can budget and do better capacity planning in the next fiscal year. It gives them visibility into their resources and if they have capacity."
"Planview has helped connect funding and strategic outcomes with work execution. That is the key use that we have for it. We use it to validate the work that we're doing and the funding that we need. The difference between the previous version and current version for us would be the ICPM and the way it gives us different scenarios. We can go in and build that out."
"A lot of of the value is around the project metrics so far but as I get more plugged into the strategic management, it's strategic planning and programs and then tying that into outcomes. I work with executive leadership and that's really what they're looking for, to say, "Okay, what outcomes do we want to achieve and how are we going to get there, plan that out, sequence that out, and then get the work to do that? And then track the work back to where we're headed with our outcomes.""
"We use time reporting. We convert time reporting into financial costs and do contractor and capacity planning for our resources. We track our work. So, that's the module we use extensively. As a matter of fact, we have upwards of 300 open projects at this given moment. It is pretty close to 300 open activities that are working."

Cons

"Primavera could be better integrated with other products, and it needs more cost management features."
"There is scope for development in integrating with some AI products."
"There is a need for improvement in the interfacing and possibly better integration with other programs."
"One area for improvement for Oracle Primavera Portfolio Management is that printing from the software can be difficult, and some of the views in Oracle Primavera Portfolio Management are hard to adjust."
"I would rate the technical support by Oracle at five out of ten."
"There is a need for improvement in the interfacing and possibly better integration with other programs."
"For us in LATAM, the pricing is extremely high. That is why I only work with oil and gas and mining industries because they have substantial budgets."
"The reporting could improve project management. We need multiple source reports. If someone is new to the support it has a steep learning curve."
"Visualization and reporting areas could use improvements by having canned reports."
"When you think of planning at a PI level, roadmap planning, or release planning, I think they should make a little more headway into how agile delivery works, tying it back into the financials and the planning to Planview. I think it would be good."
"There's still a lot of reluctance within the organization. We're not using all of the capabilities that we have today. We're still doing our strategic and capital investment planning on spreadsheets rather than using the capabilities that exist within Enterprise One. I definitely need to leverage the experts here at Planview to help drive a culture change. There's just a lot of reluctance on behalf of people within the company to put data into the tool."
"The administrative tabs are very confusing, especially in terms of configuring screens and users. It's not very intuitive versus many other applications that I have worked in the past. I have to go to separate sections than I think I have to in order to get to the place that I need to adjust something."
"We've been using it for a while, so it's about maturity. It's about being able to build out things in Agile groups and teams and some of that. Then really trying to drive into the direction of Lean Portfolio Management and more Agile program management, I think is where we're heading."
"The resource area needs improvement. The improvements that have been made recently in the later versions have been good improvements, but I think there are some more improvements needed there."
"I would like to be able to copy and paste from Excel into work and assignments along with roles and hours, as opposed to having to type it out one by one."
"We have required more time from our resource managers to spend time in the tool. The adoption has been slower than we would have hoped. So, I would think from a rollout perspective, if Planview could help us with material which gets non-Planview users or previously light Planview users to become more heavy users of the system, then this would help us with the rollout."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The solution itself is cost-effective."
"My company has made an annual payment towards the costs of the solution. Price-wise, the solution is okay."
"The solution is highly priced compared to one of its competitors."
"Oracle Primavera Portfolio Management is an expensive solution. There is an upfront cost to purchase the solution and then there are annual fees to use the solution."
"I don't know about the actual pricing. I have not come across any costs in addition to the standard licensing fees."
"We have several hundred licenses. It costs us several hundred thousand dollars a year."
"Planview is a little pricey. From a licensing perspective, for just a simple timesheet user who does nothing in the system but reports time, the licensing is a little pricey, but you have to look at it from what it is that you get. We have 6,000 users, and I don't manage the system at all. I just have to do add them to the system. The servers, maintenance, OS levels, security patching for the OS, and all other things are not something that we maintain. So, you have to look at it from an operational perspective. It is not just the product itself. A holistic view has to be taken when you look at the product and how you're going to support it. I would have to hire an entire operation staff to bring it in-house, and at the end of the day, that might cost me more."
"The licensing part is a bit costly in comparison with the other available PPM tools."
"When we went through that process, I believe it is competitive with others on the market. However, there are less expensive options available. It's a more premium offering at a higher price."
"We overbought our licenses. We looked at our needs three to four years down the road and tried based our contract on that. However, we were over aggressive. We use about a third of the licenses that we have. We're looking to adjust the makeup so we can start utilizing the amount of money that we are spending. Right now, we're overspending, and my organization is not seeing the value in Planview because we are paying so much for licenses that we're not using."
"Our licensing fees are approximately $50,000 USD annually."
"I don't think we have necessarily purchased everything that I would have liked to have seen."
