Effective threat prevention with responsive customer support
We are using Fortinet FortiGate as a firewall Fortinet FortiGate has been invaluable. It has helped save costs due to its various features, reliable performance, very good UI, low latency, and stability. The Threat Intel engine in Fortinet FortiGate is highly rated for its effectiveness in…

Affordable, easy to configure firewall with fast, responsive support
The absolute best part of Sangfor NGAF is their support. It's a 24/7 support channel, and the last time I requested their assistance I got a reply within three minutes. They helped solve the problem immediately. Sangfor also gives you a warranty for any issues or defects with their hardware. If you find any issue, they will replace the hardware within five working days. We send any hardware that is faulty to our local country partner and they will do the RMA. When it comes to deployment environments, I like that you have options. If you want a hardware firewall, then you can use their hardware. Conversely, if you want a cloud firewall, then they can provide that, too.

Gives us peace of mind with network security, application control, and web server protection
Our main use case for Sophos XGS is to protect our network and internet connection, which consists of Aruba, HP, Avaya, and Sophos switches. It's a very new product for us at this time, having previously used a variety of other security solutions including Sophos SG (now UTM), Sophos XG, as well as…

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Fortinet FortiGate is scalable for our users. Right now, we have almost 70 users. We do not have any plan to increase our usage of FortiGate. For maintaining the firewall solution, one staff member is enough."
"I like that you are able to manage FortiGate from the FortiManager to create a more centralized environment."
"UTM/NGFW features and FortiCloud for logs and backups are awesome."
"Web filtering and two-factor authentication are great features."
"The most valuable feature is the policy routing and application control."
"The notable features that I have found most valuable are that it includes the antivirus, and also IPS, and even SD-WAN."
"It blocks the vulnerabilities that can negatively impact us."
"Fortinet FortiGate is easy to use. Anyone can easily maintain it."
"It is a stable solution."
"Sangfor NGAF's standout feature is its powerful application control, enabling precise restrictions on mobile user access to approved applications."
"The tool's performance is good."
"Sangfor has the best capabilities for securing connections, securing web browsers, securing servers, and general threat protection."
"In terms of the most valuable features, the IPS report is quick and updated. Performance is also valuable."
"The most valuable features are the WAN optimization, the internet access gateway (IAG), and the central console, which allows us to implement on their firewall."
"The most valuable feature of Sangfor NGAF is its integration."
"The stability of Sangfor NGAF is good."
"The solution is stable."
"Spam filtering is what I love most about XGS."
"XGS' most valuable feature is ransomware protection."
"The features that I find most effective in enhancing network security include EDR and XDR."
"The most valuable feature of Sophos XGS is the application control."
"It’s popular because it’s easy to manage, the cloud console is excellent, and it supports VPNs. It can also integrate with endpoints, though this is optional. Regarding threat intelligence, customers in Central Europe often prefer managing their threat hunting rather than using the more expensive service from Sophos. This feature is handy for large international companies with many employees. Threat intelligence requires separate licensing and is optional. Customers can either manage it themselves or purchase the additional service from Sophos, which includes further actions and is more expensive. Smaller companies often don’t have the budget for this."
"The most valuable features of Sophos XGS are its integration into Software Central and its threat intelligence capability."
"The VPN is the best feature."

Cons

"The user interface could be improved."
"The updates Fortinet provides are sometimes unstable."
"The central management for the FortiGate Fortinet Firewall needs improvement. They have the manager to do the essential management for both SD-WAN and for the security policy. They should also improve the SD-WAN function."
"The feature which gives us a lot of pain is ASIC architecture."
"A sandbox would be good in order to be able to inspect the emails containing spam and be able to validate the emails that contain malware, prior to delivering to the customer."
"As far as wanting more scalability or things in the network diagram, it's going to cost you."
"They sometimes hide some features and if you want to enable them, you have to go in the CLI, enable the feature and configure it through the CLI. Customers, typically, like everything to be done by the GUI."
"FortiGate can improve its token system, as it requires a purchase before use."
"I feel Sangfor should follow the hierarchy and close deals via resellers instead of closing it all with their own team."
"Our experience with its customer support was quite challenging."
"I believe that IAM and NGFW need to merge into a single box, instead of there being two separate box solutions."
"They need to increase the number of ports in the firewall."
"The web interface needs to be improved, making it more user-friendly."
"Sangfor could improve their interface capacity on the 5100 series model and upgrade their hardware from one gig to 10 gig. This would improve the overall throughput."
"An area of improvement for Sangfor NGAF could be in the field of reporting and logging."
"An area for improvement would be the number of ports defined on the box. In the next release, I would like them to develop their provisioning stage of enrolling end devices."
"In the new release 19, there should be the implementation of a cloud service that you can use to set up the IPSec tunnels, and the SD-WAN from the WAN dashboard, and then you can push that configuration out to every firewall that you have."
"The support team are helpful when you eventually get hold of them which takes a long time. They can improve how quickly you get technical support."
"We need to know which feature is suited to different environments. More live sessions or time-bound training would help us understand better."
"The first time a person sets it up, they will need training."
"Sophos XGS's response to zero-day attacks could be improved."
"Sophos XGS could improve the automation system. It could be better if there was some level of automation, attacks automation, meaning if this happens, then it automatically executes a particular process."
"They should customers who are facing issues with their product reviews; they found bots in it. If they can do their proper research and use the user analysis and testing, that would greatly help the clients."
"I would like to see a history of the monthly bandwidth utilization, the bandwidth consumption for a period of time."
