Brings reporting, planning, and prediction together in one seamless workflow
I think the areas of SAP Analytics Cloud that could be improved or enhanced are mentioned by users or companies, and they would definitely mention the price in terms of planning licensing. From a consulting point of view, I don't see any major weaknesses. It is reasonably well-developed, and the perfect strength is that innovations are coming on a quarterly basis. It is slightly behind other tools in terms of the number of graphical outputs. Some tools have it faster, but every increment of innovations contains new features. On the other hand, it is perfectly fitting to the SAP environment, with seamless integration to all SAP modules, not only ERP but also SuccessFactors and other tools from the SAP family, for example, integrated business planning for the production planning. This is really a highlight compared to other tools.

Provides great flexibility in terms of data transformation
I really like the flexibility the solution provides in terms of data transformation. Workday introduced Prism Analytics mainly because many clients wanted to merge data from different systems and then work with it to get some insights out of it. For that, they previously used tools like Power BI. Workday Prism Analytics gives you the power to do all the data transformations within Workday itself without taking out crucial data to a third system. I really like the way Workday has enabled Prism Analytics to be that one solution where you can bring everything. It also provides you the flexibility that things like the security model of Workday are still in place. You don't have to redo your security configuration if you do the data transformation outside Workday.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"SAP Business Data Cloud is quite helpful for live data reporting, replication, and data transformation."
"There is a lot of seamless integration and you can avoid a lot of licensing costs."
"This product provides good reports using a single pane of glass."
"The most useful feature of SAP Analytics Cloud is planning because it helps users with making predictions and forecasts. Clients can forecast, make data allocations, and other actions. The solution is useful for planning."
"The ease of use of the solution is its most valuable feature. We haven't tried all of the features yet. The graphing and the ease of using the analytics tools have been great. It's all drag and drop; you don't need to code anything."
"SAP Business Data Cloud has positively impacted my organization by ensuring that there are multiple projects which are still on BW, so there will be very little downtime for them to use or to still keep reporting the existing data from BW."
"The visualizations have been the most valuable feature."
"The most valuable feature of the tool is machine learning."
"The solution is stable and reliable, with minimal issues affecting its performance."
"The customer service and support are pretty good."
"The product is easier to use compared to other applications."
"I really like the flexibility the solution provides in terms of data transformation."
"Feature-wise, I feel that the solution's stability is good."

Cons

"There is no direct connector from SAP to Redshift, so we are required to use a third-party product that was recommended by SAP."
"I dislike when they do a lot of verification before I begin. I need to follow various steps to get into the system, and I hate this one."
"In my experience, I would rate SAP support as two to three out of five."
"There are significant hindrances in the reliability area of SAP Business Data Cloud related to connections. On one project, we created two to three connections for each module; however, when we moved from the development phase to the UAT or quality check phase, we found that our connections had expired, which meant redevelopment work, loss of time and money, and we also lost the trust of the customer."
"The technology used by the tool is old, making it an area where improvements are required."
"The integration with other vendors and solutions could be improved."
"Regarding the deployment process, I find it complex. SAP requires more configurations, and it is not easy to install SAP."
"One potential improvement is how we can transpose data. With SAP, if you have data from one system with a declared data type and a different system with another data type, the transfer is tricky."
"It is not a very scalable product."
"One area for improvement in the solution is the ability to manually update individual rows or columns of data once it has been uploaded."
"When you create certain objects, a lot of the time, the fields are text. They’re not numeric, date, or any other field type"
"There is not much flexibility in how we can add external data within Workday Prisma Analytics."
"The visualization techniques must be upgraded."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"This solution offers value for money and you get what you pay for."
"It is a bit expensive, but really worth it, especially if you are already using other SAP tools."
"SAP Analytics Cloud is a bit higher [in price]. Because, if Microsoft can afford a better product and lower cost, SAP can afford at least the same, or even lower."
"It is not the most expensive one. You have to do the cost-of-ownership analysis and take a lot of things into consideration to come up with the conclusion that it is cheaper or not, but its price is reasonable. It provides value for money."
"The product is expensive."
"The price is competitive. There is a power user license and normal user license, but the normal user license is reasonable."
"The pricing is based on an annual license and is rated a four out of ten."
"Compute and storage features should be sold separately."
"The solution is very expensive."
"I do not know of the licensing cost, but there are additional costs like 5,00,000 for recruitment modules."
"Based on whatever I have heard, Workday Prism Analytics is considered an expensive tool."
