Discontinuation of Hardware and limited firewalling capabilities
Overall, I would rate the solution a four out of ten. For UTM, I will not suggest Seqrite. But for EPS and antivirus, it is good. Cost-wise also and some features. The features wise also, it is good. And support is also good. We can get support on WhatsApp. So support-wise, it is also good.

As for areas where Sophos Cyberoam UTM can be improved, it's hard to say; I have not at the moment seen anything that I could not get a solution for, but if there's anything, I'll make sure to raise that with the Sophos team. Regarding the documentation, I find that it is still lacking, although the YouTube videos, user training, and knowledge forum are now better than they were before. Sophos Cyberoam UTM should move in the direction of AI capabilities, as the world is moving toward AI. Sophos Cyberoam UTM is not promoted enough. I see FortiGates organizing student competitions and Cisco doing CCNA classes, so Sophos should follow that route as well.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"It has an MDM solution."
"The solution works really well overall."
"The solution's interface is user-friendly, and the web protection is good. The tool is highly stable. The product is scalable. The technical support is good. We chose Sophos Cyberoam UTM because their focus on security research is higher compared to other brands. It's an all-in-one solution with antivirus, EDR, wireless protection, and web protection integrated into one box. The initial setup was straightforward."
"Our experience with this product so far has been wonderful."
"The SSO is introduced in our premise only."
"If you know what you are doing it is really straightforward and quite simple to deploy, setup and then go have a drink."
"Web and content filtering are valuable in preventing people from abusing the network and pushing up the bandwidth price."
"The solution is stable and reliable."
"The virtual Cyberoam has allowed us to segment our cloud customers via a virtual firewall instance per customer as a second level of security behind our primary systems firewalls."

Cons

"This solution is not accurate. Sometimes, the switches got hung. So sometimes, whatever policies we have deployed were not working properly."
"There are times when the device gets too hot and begins to misbehave."
"We use different workarounds and find different solutions for it, depending on the client's needs. We shouldn't have to, we should just be able to use the product as it comes with Cyberoam, rather than having to revert to other products."
"Sophos Cyberoam UTM could have a more advanced reporting function."
"Cyberoam configuration is done through the browser, which is one of the places that viruses spread."
"It isn't missing anything."
"Our experience with technical support is not good. I didn't understand if there was an issue with the physical device, or if it was a technical issue, or if it was their technical support."
"Sophos Cyberoam UTM has room for improvement in specific rules-based objects and redesign. The solution also needs to improve in adding rules and policies, including renewing and finding policies."
"Sophos VPN connectivity could be improved, as it can be lengthy, and users take longer to connect"

Pricing and Cost Advice

Information not available
"The solution’s pricing is average. The product is worth the money."
"The price is very competitive and the licensing is easy."
"Cyberoam's pricing depends on the services you subscribe for. Most firewalls right now, especially UTM, focus on services and stagger all the services. If you want a particular service, you pay for it."
"There is a license required for this solution and we are on a three-year contract. I am satisfied with the price."
"It is very reasonably priced as compared to other solutions in the market."
"I rate Cyberoam's pricing a five or six out of ten since it is affordable."
"There are no costs in addition to the standard licensing fees."
"I have no comment about the pricing."
