Offers some features but needs better customization and analysis tools
There are solutions that can perform better, but due to pricing for our corporate implementation, we had to stay with this solution. It accomplishes the necessary tasks, but there is room for improvement. The features are not as customizable as we would prefer, but they are workable. If configured properly, you can perform a drill-down analysis. However, I have not used this feature much for our infrastructure on the network side.

Helps reduce response time but has room to improve customization complexity
We are not working on simple standalone solutions like Kaspersky DDoS Protection or Hybrid Cloud Security. Once you understand Zabbix, then it is easy to customize those web pages and graphs for our customer use. It is fully automated to your requirements. Zabbix is working fine with no issues, and I am satisfied with it. We have combined Zabbix and SolarWinds. The integration works fine, and it is easy to integrate Zabbix with the IT environment. We were trying to purchase MDR (Managed Detection and Response), but we are not working on that. I don't have real experience with MDR. We are using Falcon software for that. We are working with Falcon Complete, not with Sandbox. We are not using Kaspersky for business or cloud protection. For that, we are using Zabbix CrowdStrike Falcon Complete solution. I have given this review an overall rating of 8.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The initial setup is straightforward."
"The product is useful for switches and IP phones."
"Overall, I rate SolarWinds Network Device Monitor ten out of ten."
"The deployment process is quick."
"Since our devices are spread out across the world, we can see the status of these devices without having to send someone physically to a remote location, which saves money."
"The Network Device Monitor itself is very useful."
"There are vital features of auto-plugin core ports"
"Overall, it is a good user experience and the dashboards are very usable."
"The best feature is that Zabbix can report everything, and everything in Zabbix is free."
"This is a stable product."
"There are a few problems but if they fix them, then Zabbix is a very good tool compared to others."
"We purchased Zabbix for a good price, including support; it's cheaper than Datadog and ScienceLogic."
"It has an intuitive UI with beautiful graphs and customizable maps."
"The flexibility of taking monitoring data from such a wide variety of platforms - beyond traditional IT - makes Zabbix a highly flexible solution."
"The solution allows for good integration with other products."
"The most valuable feature is network traffic monitoring."

Cons

"The data is in the system but we are unable to pull it because reporting is not integrated and versatile."
"Although I haven't explored all of the features available, I wouldn't mind if the software were made to be a bit more customizable."
"There were certain aspects that weren't supported exactly. I was just able to monitor some basic things."
"When an organization's network grows, the complexity of the dashboard becomes an area of concern where improvements are required."
"SolarWinds Network Device Monitor could improve by being more user-friendly. The network has so many features which make it difficult to find how to configure how to use it. It is not simple to customize."
"SolarWinds Network Device Monitor could improve the features. We don't have the complete model for the database, and the monitoring for the database is up and down. We expect that we could monitor the blocking items on the database but we don't have that feature."
"There are solutions that can perform better, but due to pricing for our corporate implementation, we had to stay with this solution."
"Technical support needs to respond to its customers faster. We are not 100% satisfied with the level of support we get."
"When it comes to Zabbix flow, I would not be comfortable working with Zabbix as there's a bit of a lack on the reporting and automation front."
"When using this solution in enterprise monitoring, you are able to see that there are some issues with equipment that could be causing a problem. Sometimes you want to make a root command that you do not want to be executed automatically. What we have tried to do is open an SSH session directly from the solution's interface but it is not possible."
"Performance is very important to our clients, and this solution doesn't perform very well."
"Implementing Zabbix is difficult. I've deployed many solutions over the years, and Zabbix is the hardest to implement. You have to do some development to get it to work with IBM, Micro Focus, or HP products."
"The dashboard and the graph section could be a little bit more professional."
"The user interface could be better."
"They need to improve the APM solution, the Application Management solution."
"Look and feel."
