The web console is quite helpful but policies tend to be a bit complex to set up
Pros and Cons
  • "The web console is quite helpful, as is the visibility view for deployment. Updates do things like Device Control Management, which I can control."
  • "The policies tend to be a bit more complex to set up, so we do need some expertise in setting up the policies."

What is our primary use case?

We use it for the security of our products.

What is most valuable?

The web console is quite helpful, as is the visibility view for deployment. Updates do things like Device Control Management, which I can control.

What needs improvement?

The policies tend to be a bit more complex to set up, so we do need some expertise in setting up the policies. This requires some preparation and knowledge.

For how long have I used the solution?

We have been using Trend Micro Apex One about a year. I think it is the latest version.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

We don't have any issue with stability.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The scalability is good. You can do it for almost 100 endpoints.

How was the initial setup?

The policies tend to be a bit more complex to set up, so we do need some expertise in setting up the policies. This requires some preparation and knowledge.

What other advice do I have?

I would recommend Apex One, probably the upgraded version. Maybe the XDR will meet today's needs, i.e. the XDR upgraded version. I would give Trend Micro Apex One 7 out of 10.

Good protection, good ability to detect ransomware and malware, and competitive pricing
Pros and Cons
  • "Its ability to detect ransomware and malware is the most valuable. Its protection is also good."
  • "The portal is a little bit slow in loading. The cloud portal or management control should be a little faster. There seems to be a lot of load on their servers over there. Maybe they are using one server for multiple customers. It would be great if they can increase server performance in the cloud. Its technical support and reporting can be improved. There is no proper reporting, and there is no PDF or things like that. They should include detailed reporting. An attack happened at a client's site, but we couldn't get the report on the same day. We were unable to provide a detailed report to our client. We approached the technical support, and even they didn't give proper answers. They need to improve the reporting capabilities, or the technical team should support us in providing these reports. They should include reporting in the solution. They should also insert sandbox analysis in Apex One."

What is our primary use case?

We use it for protecting our endpoints. Both Apex One and Worry-Free Services are cloud-based services.

How has it helped my organization?

It has been detecting the management activities and quarantining them so that the continuity of our business is maintained. We had a ransomware attack, and Trend Micro was there to stop the attack, and we are still in business.

What is most valuable?

Its ability to detect ransomware and malware is the most valuable. Its protection is also good.

What needs improvement?

The portal is a little bit slow in loading.

They should also insert sandbox analysis in Apex One.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using this solution for more than a year.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It has good stability.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Its scalability is good. We can scale it. We just need the licenses. In my company, we have 20 users, but we have also deployed it for our clients. We have plans to sell it more to our clients.

It is scalable for on-premises versions, but we need to do a few things to our database. For on-premises versions, we need to improve server performance as well.

How are customer service and technical support?

Technical support should be improved. It is not as good as the other products. We had to generate a report on one of the attacks that happened, and they weren't much responsive.

How was the initial setup?

The cloud services are straightforward, but the on-premises version of Apex One is not straightforward. It is a complex installation of Apex One.

The deployment duration varies. We have to first prepare all the prerequisites, which takes a lot of time. Overall, the installation takes up to two days. For a large enterprise, the deployment would take one to two days.

What about the implementation team?

We are an integrator, so we implemented it ourselves.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Its pricing was good. It is very competitive with all the other vendors.

What other advice do I have?

I would recommend to install and implement this solution. It is a good solution. For every solution, there'll be pros and cons.

I would rate Trend Micro Apex One an eight out of ten.

It's more effective and easier to integrate than most of its competitors
Pros and Cons
  • "It's easier to integrate Apex One than Kaspersky. It also performs well, and the customer feedback has been positive."
  • "I would suggest making the on-prem and cloud versions easier to manage via Apex One Central, a centralized management platform for customers and agents."

What is our primary use case?

I've done migration before from the cloud to Apex One on-prem, configured the security settings, and installed the agent on the client's endpoints. I've helped customers migrate from Apex One on-prem to Apex One Vision One in other projects. Also, I've set up Apex One Central to manage them all.

What is most valuable?

It's easier to integrate Apex One than Kaspersky. It also performs well, and the customer feedback has been positive.

What needs improvement?

I would suggest making the on-prem and cloud versions easier to manage via Apex One Central, a centralized management platform for customers and agents.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've been using Apex One for almost six months. The company was using it for a while before I join it.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Apex One is scalable.

How are customer service and support?

Trend Micro support is generally more helpful than the support for other solutions,

How was the initial setup?

Apex One is easier to install Kaspersky than other solutions.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

There are licenses for Apex One's individual security features, so it depends on what the customer needs. But in general, Trend Micro is cheap, and many customers require it.

What other advice do I have?

I rate Apex One eight out of 10. I recommend it. It is more generic than Kaspersky, and I would say it's more effective than most competing solutions.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Hybrid Cloud

Scalable and easy to setup, but support could be better
Pros and Cons
  • "The initial setup is not that tough. It's easy."
  • "The technical support should be more proactive."

What needs improvement?

While we consider all the features to be valuable, we occasionally encounter issues with the performance. My technical team would be in a better position than I to address these.

The technical support should be more proactive. I rate it as an eight out ten.

There should be better support for ransomeware. It would be nice to see proper security terms, technical improvisations in terms of security.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been working with Trend Micro Apex One for nearly two years.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I rate the scalability of the solution as an eight out of ten.

How are customer service and technical support?

There should be more proactice technical support and I rate this as an eight out of ten.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We did not really work with other solutions prior to Trend Micro Apex One.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is not that tough. It's easy.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The price of the solution is fine.

A strong security product for endpoint protection with good stability, good security capabilities, and good support
Pros and Cons
  • "It is very stable. It also has good security capabilities. It is a strong security product for endpoint protection."
  • "It would be great it can support endpoint encryption."

What is our primary use case?

It is mainly used for endpoint security. It can be deployed on-premises or on the cloud, so it is a fairly hybrid product.

What is most valuable?

It is very stable. It also has good security capabilities. It is a strong security product for endpoint protection.

What needs improvement?

It would be great it can support endpoint encryption.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using this solution for two years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It is very stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

We are securing more than 15,000 endpoints with this solution.

How are customer service and technical support?

Their technical support is okay. They have a good support mechanism.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We have replaced Symantec and McAfee with Trend Micro Apex One.

How was the initial setup?

Its installation has medium complexity. It is not very difficult, but it is also not that easy. It is an endpoint product, and the installation also depends on the number of users. The maximum number of individual deployments that we have done was about 8,000 users. We had around five engineers who worked for around three months for the entire deployment.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

It has a per-user license.

What other advice do I have?

I would recommend this solution. I would rate Trend Micro Apex One a nine out of ten.

Stable, flexible, and easy to use
Pros and Cons
  • "The product has proven to be very flexible over the years that we have had it."
  • "The integration capabilities could be a bit better."

What is our primary use case?

We primarily use the solution for endpoint security. It helps protect us from malware and viruses for the most part.

What is most valuable?

The solution is very easy to use.

The product has proven to be very flexible over the years that we have had it.

The stability has been very good so far. It's reliable.

We've found the initial setup to be quite straightforward.

What needs improvement?

I am a supervisor for the technical team. My technical team has used the product for the most part. I don't use the solution in a technical sense and therefore it is difficult to discuss what might be lacking or where changes may need to be made.

The integration capabilities could be a bit better. right now, it's my understanding that they are not as strong as they could be. It's an aspect that could be improved in future releases.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've been using the solution for about five years or so. It's been a while.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The solution is very stable. It's reliable and the performance has been good overall. There are no bugs or glitches. It doesn't crash or freeze.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

We have around 2,000 users on the solution right now.

How are customer service and technical support?

Technical support, in general, has been manageable. They are helpful and responsive. We're satisfied with the level of service they provide to us.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is very easy and quite straightforward. A company shouldn't have any issues with it. The process is not overly complex or difficult.

A full deployment only takes three to five days, and therefore isn't too time intensive in general.

We have three staff members that can handle deployment and maintenance responsibilities.

What about the implementation team?

We handled the implementation ourselves. We didn't use a consultant or integrator at all. We're integrators ourselves.

What other advice do I have?

We're systems integrators.

We're using the latest version of the solution right now.

Overall, I would rate the solution at an eight out of ten. We've been mostly happy with the product and its capabilities.

I'd recommend the solution to other users and companies.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

On-premises

Excellent application control, vulnerability protection, and behavior monitoring
Pros and Cons
  • "Offers great application control, vulnerability protection, and behavior monitoring."
  • "Lacking features, not yet fully mature."

What is our primary use case?

I'm a security engineer and we are partners with Trend Micro.

What is most valuable?

This is a very good product for our customers. I use the application control, vulnerability protection, and behavior monitoring which are all great features.

What needs improvement?

The main issue of the product is that it's lacking features and in that sense it's not a fully mature product.  There is currently no global exclusion list available and some features are not available. I think this will improve in the future.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've been using this solution for three years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

This is a stable product.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The solution is scalable.

This is a simple product and the initial setup is straightforward. We have installed it in over 15 companies. Deployment usually takes around two hours and involves two or three staff.

  • "Recently, we had a malware attack and considered looking at other cloud solutions because of this breach."

What is most valuable?

There is nothing valuable about this product.

What needs improvement?

Recently, we had a malware attack and considered looking at other cloud solutions because of this breach.

For how long have I used the solution?

One to three years.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The scalability is perfect. It has an LDAP view.

How is customer service and technical support?

The tech support is OK.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We looked at Symantec.
