At home, I use it for myself. There are no captive portals or anything like that, only wireless access. Only wifi.
IT System Technician at a computer software company with 11-50 employees
Reliable, with no captive portals, that is simple, and quick to install
Pros and Cons
- "It functions properly and includes centralized management for access points and switches."
- "They have access points that are in the firewalls, and I believe the firewalls could be significantly better. They use the USG firewall, which I believe is a poor device. VPNs for example, it is really bad, it is difficult to configure, and I don't like them at all."
What is our primary use case?
What is most valuable?

They have access points that are in the firewalls, and I believe the firewalls could be significantly better.
They use the USG firewall, which I believe is a poor device. VPNs for example, it is really bad, it is difficult to configure, and I don't like them at all.

Ubiquiti Wireless is very stable.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
I have not yet experimented with the scalability of Ubiquiti Wireless.
I am using it at home.
How are customer service and support?
I have not contacted technical support.
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
I have worked with Cisco Routers.
For testing, and learning purposes, I have been using CentOS, which is now Almal Linux or Rocky Linux.
I have also worked with Sophos and Bitdefender.
I have used Mikro Tik.
How was the initial setup?
It is quite easy to set up.
It most likely took me an hour.
What about the implementation team?
I watched some Youtube videos.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
There is no licensing fee required.
I think the price is okay for the product, but the price could always be cheaper.
Which other solutions did I evaluate?
I work as a system engineer and research solutions at home. I switched to a different product after a few years.
What other advice do I have?
Three years ago, I would have, but things have since shifted a bit. I prefer to have everything at home. Ubiquiti requires a cloud account now, which I don't like, therefore I wouldn't recommend it at this time.
I would rate Ubiquiti Wireless an eight out of ten.

President at a tech services company with 11-50 employees
Inexpensive with good WiFi coverage and good reliability
Pros and Cons
- "Overall, it's a straightforward solution."
- "There isn't any technical support."
What is our primary use case?
We primarily use the solution for small businesses.
How has it helped my organization?
We found the WiFi coverage good and it was easy for the company to set up. It continues to be stable as well.
What is most valuable?
They are our cheap solution. It's not overly expensive to use.
They integrated well within our small business, which was required.
It's a stable solution.
We don't have any issues when it comes to running a standard deployment.
The coverage of Wi-Fi is good.
Overall, it's a straightforward solution.
They do offer a lot of documentation.
It's very cheap to replace, however, they last a while. If you want to buy one, it's no trouble. We've sold more than 500 and we maybe changed three wireless access points in five years.
What needs improvement?
Especially after the last year, we would prefer if there was an option to have complete cloud control and not local control. It's better to have something that's completely cloud-based.
There isn't any technical support. There is only a forum where it is hard to get answers.
If you buy one and you would like to extend the warranty, you don't have the possibility to extend the warranty. If the full warranty expires, if the Wi-Fi brakes, you must buy a new product.
For how long have I used the solution?
I've been using the solution for five years.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
The stability is quite good. There are no bugs or glitches and it doesn't crash or freeze it is reliable. It's been issue-free.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
The product can scale.
How are customer service and support?
Technical support is non-existent. They have only a forum where you can ask other people or maybe technician questions. However, usually, when we post an issue, we never get an answer
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
We've used many different solutions in the past and really like Ubiquiti. Our clients have used Fortinet and Meraki, however, those are best suited for larger enterprises.
How was the initial setup?
The solution is very easy to set up.
We basically just propose the solution and the client will look at the price and agree to it or not. If they do, we install it. that's our basic implementation strategy.
You can deploy the product in about two hours. You only need one person to deploy it. It's not labor-intensive.
Depending on the customer, we may have only one site or maybe multiple sites where we need to deploy the solution with one controller. Some customers have only one site, and others might have ten. All the sites may be interconnected by a VPN.
What about the implementation team?
We are able to install the solution ourselves.
What was our ROI?
I'm not sure if the customer has seen an exact ROI.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
The price of the product is reasonable. While I can't speak to the exact pricing, it is quite inexpensive.
You don't need a license. You simply buy and install the device.
For €100, you have Wi-Fi and you don't have to worry about a license. For the customer, it is a good solution. With Meraki, for example, you must buy the product, you must buy the license, and you have a license with an annual commitment or a pluriannual commitment. Clients must pay every time. With Ubiquiti, you buy the device, similar to what you would install at home, and you don't need to worry about anything else.
What other advice do I have?
We are a customer and an integrator.
It's my understanding that we are using the latest solution, based on the firmware that they released.
It's got a pretty low learning curve. You might only need one day to have a look at it and understand everything.
I'd rate it eight out of ten. It's pretty great for small businesses, however, to take it to the next level, a large company likely will need to acquire it.
Which deployment model are you using for this solution?
On-premises

CEO at SoniqSoft JRMM sp. z o.o. s.k.
Easy to set up, stable, and no complaints about their technical support
Pros and Cons
- "The most valuable feature is the ease of setup."
- "The control system can be improved by making it easier."
What is our primary use case?
We are a solution provider and Ubiquiti is one of the wireless products that we implement for our customers. We also implement wired products, such as switches and gateways.
We primarily used this product for building industrial networks in production and manufacturing companies, especially warehouses. This includes offices, as well.
What is most valuable?
The most valuable feature is the ease of setup.
What needs improvement?
The control system can be improved by making it easier. You should be able to install it on Linux, by default. It should be delivered with this option, rather than having to rely on something by a third-party.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been working with this product for close to ten years.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
This is a stable solution.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
Ubiquity Wireless is scalable.
There are only 22 people in my organization that use this product but within our installation base, there are thousands of users.
How are customer service and technical support?
We have no objections and nothing to complain about with their technical support. Everything is fine.
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
We commonly use a couple of different products including those by Cisco and DrayTek. The choice of model depends on the size of the organization.
How was the initial setup?
The initial setup is very easy. The length of time required depends on how large the installation is. Some deployments are as little as one day, whereas others can take a month to complete.
What about the implementation team?
I was the architect of this solution and I used other companies to complete the installation and deployment. Our customers maintain this product themselves, as they have their own IT departments.
What other advice do I have?
We may increase our installation base for Ubiquity Wireless. However, I want to have an extended portfolio with all of the other products also available.
Overall, this is a product that I recommend.
I would rate this solution a ten out of ten.
Which deployment model are you using for this solution?
On-premises
Disclosure: My company has a business relationship with this vendor other than being a customer: Integrator

Reasonable pricing and very stable but needs better integration capabilities
Pros and Cons
- "The ease of the setup is one of its most valuable aspects."
- "The solution needs to improve its features and offer more to the customer."
What is our primary use case?
I used it briefly, primarily for a small deployment. That included the controller and a couple of access points. The deployment took place over the course of a few months. It was just for wireless connectivity in an office setup.
What is most valuable?
The ease of the setup is one of its most valuable aspects.
The pricing is excellent. The controller is actually free and we pay for the access points only.
What needs improvement?
The solution needs to improve its features and offer more to the customer.
The integration capability needs to be a bit more robust.
The active directory is where they could do some more work.
For how long have I used the solution?
I've used the solution for a while, here and there.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
Where I have used this solution, for the use cases I've dealt with, I've found the solution to be quite stable. There are no bugs or glitches. It doesn't crash or freeze. Its performance is reliable.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
For a small deployment, they are very good. I haven't used them in a very large deployment, and therefore can't speak to its scalability.
That said, it's my understanding that you can definitely add more access points if you need to.
The latest deployment was for an office of about 20 people. It's not a big job by any means.
How are customer service and technical support?
I haven't had any reason to connect with technical support and therefore cannot speak to how helpful or responsive they are.
How was the initial setup?
The initial setup is not overly complex or difficult. It's very easy to set up. That's a great selling point, actually. The implementation rolls out very simply and it's quite straightforward.
The entire installation is very quick and takes less than an hour to execute.
We have two admins and four engineers that can handle deployment and maintenance responsibilities.
What about the implementation team?
I can handle implementations on my own. I do not need the assistance of a consultant or integrator. It's pretty simple to do.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
The pricing is very reasonable. It's not overly expensive. The way you are charged is as follows: the controller is free; we simply pay for the access points only. It's very affordable.
You just have the one-off initial cost. You don't have to pay a monthly fee or anything like that.
What other advice do I have?
We're using the latest version of the solution. I can't speak to the exact version number, however.
In general, I would rate the solution at a six out of ten. It's a decent solution.
I'd recommend the solution to other users or companies that need a smaller-sized deployment. It's a cheaper option and would work well for them.
Which deployment model are you using for this solution?
On-premises

Owner at It logic
Easy to install and maintain, good for point-to-point linking
Pros and Cons
- "Ubiquiti is easier to install than Mikrotik."
- "I would like local support from the parent company."
What is our primary use case?
We use Ubiquiti for point-to-point linking. We don't use it for Wi-Fi, we use it for point links and backward links.
We are resellers of Ubiquiti and we install it for our clients.
What needs improvement?
When you compare with Mikrotik, Mikrotik is more stable than Ubiquiti because they have their own protocols. They have two protocols, proprietary protocols, and CDMA protocols. Mikrotik only uses CDMA protocols.
I would like local support from the parent company.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been using Ubiquiti Wireless for years and we are using the latest version.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
It's a stable solution but Mikrotik offers more stability.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
It's a scalable product. The scalable range is from five kilometers to forty kilometers.
Depending on the model, if we are providing Mbps, we are using a higher-end model of Ubiquiti and Mikrotik for users.
How are customer service and technical support?
There is no technical support by parent companies. In India, there is only the import product. There is no channel or distributor of Ubiquiti or Mikrotik.
They should have local support available.
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
We use wireless products such as Cambium and Mikrotik.
How was the initial setup?
Ubiquiti is easier to install than Mikrotik.
You can install Ubiquiti in 30 minutes, and Mikrotik will take two hours.
Ubiquiti doesn't present any issues for our engineers to maintain but Mikrotik is a bit more complicated.
What other advice do I have?
We have plans to continue selling this solution.
I would recommend Ubiquiti, but my preference would be Mikrotik and that is the one that I recommend.
I would rate Ubiquiti an eight out of ten.

- "This solution should be more robust when it comes to connectivity and improve wireless technology."
What is our primary use case?
We use the solution for individuals that need access to the office network. This solution allows them to be connected to their mobile, desktop, laptops, and tablets, or any other kind of internal information which is being sent to the cloud.
What is most valuable?
I have found the most valuable features to be how user-friendly it is and how simple it is to do the configurations.

I have been using the solution for one year.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
I have found the solution to be stable.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
The solution is scalable. We have 100 people using the solution in my organization.
How are customer service and technical support?
The technical support is good.
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
I have been using Aruba solutions in the past and they have some advantages to this one. Aruba is more prudent and robust overall. However, in Aruba, you have to configure it a lot with many details.
What about the implementation team?
I did the deployment myself.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
The price has been fair for what I have been using it for. There is no license for this solution.
What other advice do I have?
I would recommend this solution to others. However, if you have the extra budget I would select Aruba instead.
I rate Ubiquiti Wireless an eight out of ten.
Which deployment model are you using for this solution?
On-premises

ICT Consultant at a tech services company with 11-50 employees
Stable, easy to install, and easy to use
Pros and Cons
- "We have found the product to be scalable."
- "I would prefer if the solution offered more integration capabilities."
What is our primary use case?
We deployed it alongside Linksys. The way I'm using it is the way I have used Linksys.
We can use it for WLAN deployments and outdoor wireless connectivity. We can use it for wireless hotspots - the long range type.
What is most valuable?
The management they have the UniFi Controller allows you to manage everything including access from the entrance location from the server.
The solution is stable.
We have found the product to be scalable.
Its server is easy to use.
The product is easy to install.
What needs improvement?
How easy it is to install depends on the knowledge base of the person doing it. It can get a bit technical.
I would prefer if the solution offered more integration capabilities.
For how long have I used the solution?
We've used the solution for more than four years at this point. It's been a while.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
The solution has been stable. There are no bugs or glitches. It doesn't crash or freeze. It's reliable.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
The scalability is very good. If a company needs to expand it, it can do so.
How are customer service and technical support?
I've never contacted technical support. I wouldn't be able to comment on how helpful or responsive they are.
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
We use the solution alongside Linksys. We later migrated to UniFi in one of our offices.
How was the initial setup?
The product is easy to install, however, it's technical. You need to have a technical person involved, and if you do it will be an easy installation.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
You buy the solution outright. However, I cannot speak to the exact pricing.
What other advice do I have?
I'd rate the solution at a ten out of ten. I've found the solution to be very good overall.
I would recommend the solution to other users and companies.
