Hello community,
I am the Executive Vice President at a medium-sized manufacturing company.
I am currently researching ERP solutions. Is SAP Business One a suitable solution for a manufacturing company? What are the pros and cons of this solution?
Thank you for your help.
Negative for SAP Business One in manufacturing sectors, because it is built for buy-sell, less production. For MTO, MTS, CTO, SAP Business One is less efficient for planning to control tasks. For the Taiwan marketplace and business models, SAP Business One cannot complete local ERP for less support for addon programs to fit ROI, compared to well develop local competitors.
For bottlem-up material quantity consumptions, MRP logic wil not fit alternative and phantom planning.
Hi Sanjay, Dynamics 365 Business Central has more features as compared to SAP B1 for production and manufacturing. It also supports multi-company and dimension options. I can share more features on its workflows on request. Regards
Hi Sanjay,
The most important issue to consider is that SAP B1 is a single company solution which means that should you have other legal entities in your group you would need to install another instance of B1 or create the new company as a sales area which is not ideal. The production side of the solution is fine for simple manufacturing models but maintenance is quite light so could be an issue should you want to manage you preventive maintenance extensively. There are a number of third party applications that have been integrated into B1 which extends the functional reach but also creates potential issues as your implementation may not be fully familiar with these...
If you want a more extensive overview of the capabilities and shortcomings please let me know.
Regards Emile
Dear Sanjay Sir,
SAP Business one is very useful for manufacturing industries. 70,000+ India manufacturing companies use SAP Business One. The benefits of SAP Business One are:
1. Quick Implementation and Deployment - SAP Business One only takes a few weeks to implement (especially with the help of an experienced ERP management consultant). And that’s good news because it means minimal interruptions to your business process. It also means you’ll be analyzing all the real-time data you can handle, faster than lickety-split.
2. Automatic Alerts - Nothing’s worse than missing important info, especially when it concerns your business. Luckily, SAP Business One has an automatic alert feature that sends you critical information without you having to query the system. Since many businesses operate with a tight limit on supply chain, budgetary and human resources, getting alerts in the nick of time is just one of the great benefits of this SAP ERP product.
3. Streamlining Your Operations - Imagine having all your data centralized and processed for total visualization. That’s one of the prime SAP advantages of Business One. Its core function is to act as a single system wherein your bookkeeping, inventory management, CRM and even human resource data (thanks to its robust HR module) are easily accessible by all members of your team. It truly brings everything together in one convenient digital location.
4. SAP Integration Already use SAP HANA? That’s ok. In fact, it’s ideal. Business One is primed and ready to fully integrate into SAP HANA and can allow you even greater insight into your business. It provides an even better platform from which to make key decisions based on real-time information so you can focus on driving growth.
5. Profitability - Increased transparency for business operations with the way that SAP’s structure works, you’re able to keep tabs on all of your processes from one location. Because data is uploaded and synced across all devices, your people, whether they’re seasoned veterans or entry-level go-getters, can understand reports such as financial statements quickly and accurately. Moreover, SAP Business One also handles the cost of the materials in the system dynamically which eliminates user intervention, and thus you can prevent manual mistakes in the system.
