Synergy is a bit pricier. When we compared it with Dell during the migration to this Synergy unit, our client also sought quotes from another provider. Ultimately, although we were slightly more expensive, they chose to contract with us due to their reliability and positive experience with the blade system. Adjusting to a different brand would have posed a challenge due to the learning curve. Ultimately, we negotiated with our account manager to improve the pricing, aiming to align it more closely with Dell's offerings. Dell's pricing was competitive.
The cost is high or a big investment and that is a drawback for some customers. A one-time investment of $80,000 to $100,000 is needed for high-end servers that are very stable. If these are your needs, the investment is worth it.
I can't discuss the exact amount of money we pay for licensing. The amount is confidential. It's my understanding that the deal we arrived at was very competitive.

The price point is a little high. We were able to get a good deal on a promotion, to go with it. It would be nice to see the prices come down a little bit.

We pay for licensing on the fibre channel uplinks, on the Virtual Connect, which is an add-on. This is in addition to the VMware and Microsoft licensing for the operating systems. Our IT infrastructure costs have not been affected by this solution. Most of our infrastructure surrounding and supporting Synergy was already purchased prior to it being set up.

We do a biannual renewal. I know how much that renewal is, but I don't know how much it breaks down to be just Synergy, since we have our VMware, all of our physical equipment, etc. all rolled up into one renewal, which is a little over $300,000 every two years. However, only a subset of that is the Synergy product. There was at least about a 20 percent savings in cost over our purchase based on the purchase price of the compute modules themselves versus what we've had to pay before. It was significantly less.

The licensing is more around the software for RGS, because we are deploying bare metal installs. It is mainly the operating system and any lights-out management. So, licensing is minimum. We are licensing it annually. When we made the purchase of the hardware, we added Professional Services to it. It reduced our IT infrastructure cost by a little because of the amount of capacity and it is bigger. I only have 12 blades in Synergy, where in the c7000, I had 16 blades. I lost four systems for customers in the way that we deploy systems.
The biggest cost is the VMware licensing. In our whole environment, the cost is in the millions. On this particular chassis, the annual cost is 12 blades times approximately $40,000.

Synergy is more expensive than Cisco.

You have to propose Synergy with your customer base.
The license comes with the solution.
We pay about £500 for the solution. I'm not aware of the exact licensing terms.

I worked with the technology and never handled the licensing aspect. I'm not sure of the exact costs.
The hardware licensing cost is reasonable.
We don't have to pay for Synergy because it's part of our plan.
We have already paid once. It is just the price for the permit and its use. It seems you don't have to keep paying for it, but I am not sure.
You can purchase support licenses for this product. Those would need to be paid on a yearly basis.
I cannot properly advise on setup, pricing or licensing costs.

We are satisfied with its price.
VMware is part of the cost. We bought the chassis, we bought the solution. The blades are roughly running us $60,000 a pop right now.
We outright purchased Synergy. Our TCO has been affected by five percent.
The platform that we run Synergy on is all virtualized. Our primary cost is likely VMware.
We bought everything outright to start with. We don't do much consumption-based stuff.

Since Synergies are expensive, our TCO may have gone up.

After buying it, I don't think there are any costs other than for regular support.
It costs us around $60,000 a year. The solution has reduced our IT infrastructure costs by 50 percent.
We do CAPEX.
