Cloud deployment strengthens process implementation and centralizes information for capturing company policies
Pros and Cons

  • "The maintenance capabilities of ARIS BPM and the strong underlying database are particularly valuable."
  • "I find it difficult to access the database as I want with direct querying."
  • "I find it difficult to access the database as I want with direct querying."

What is our primary use case?

I use ARIS BPM mainly for implementing company policies and legislation to capture processes. I try to use ARIS as a single point of truth, connecting it to a library or source systems to strengthen its use cases, as acknowledged by higher management.

What is most valuable?

The maintenance capabilities of ARIS BPM and the strong underlying database are particularly valuable. It provides strong impact analysis features compared to other tools, such as Visio and PowerPoint, which are not comparable. Initially, ARIS was a standalone product but now benefits from cloud deployment, which enhances access and distribution across my organization.

What needs improvement?

I find it difficult to access the database as I want with direct querying. I must write scripts, which requires specific knowledge. Software AG could improve this by making the database more open. The user interface could be more attractive and user-friendly, as the database consistency, although strong, can limit flexibility.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using ARIS BPM for about 15 years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The stability of ARIS BPM is quite strong, rated eight out of ten.

Although there are occasional issues with new service releases, I manage them well with the help of Software AG and by not being the first to implement new updates.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The scalability is rated between seven and eight. For user scalability, it is a matter of licenses, while functional scalability is supported and easy to implement. However, I do not use other interactive modules with each other, which limits my perspective on full scalability.

How are customer service and support?

Customer support is rated eight out of ten.

The consultants are fine, however, reliance on single experts for modules can be risky. Generally, they respond quickly to major incidents, which are rare.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I used multiple tools previously. Visio is still used but it does not directly compete with ARIS BPM as it serves different purposes. Workflow tools in my company also help visualize processes but differ from ARIS's use.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup involved asking the vendor to install it about 15 years ago. It is difficult to compare with current installations, which are now quicker as I have different environments and more familiarity.

What other advice do I have?

Overall, ARIS BPM is rated eight out of ten. There is always room for improvement, particularly in database access and user interface design. Developers need specialized knowledge to query data, which could be simplified.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Private Cloud

If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use?
